|What happened to custom sections in Google News?||TRose11209||12/15/11 9:02 PM|
I used to be able to see all my blog posts on Google News with a custom section framed as (author:"Tom Rose") but it doesn't recognize that term any longer. What happened? Anyone know?
Thanks in advance!

The author: search operator is no longer available. For author-specific Google News content, I would recommend use of the Authorship capabilities in Google News, introduced last month. Integration with Google+ circles means easier following and engagement between authors and readers.

Doesn't that mean, though, that my authors of choice have to be signed up to Google+? If the highly utile "topic:" search operator is still available, why do away with the "author:" one?
Not to get all strident on you, but this really sucks. I've been using, and loving, that function for months.

I agree, Rodney. I'd love to know why this was taken away. That was a great feature for we prolific writerly types.
