|Bigger images, realtime coverage and Google+ posts||Erik S.||5/3/12 12:02 PM|
Hi Google News Users!
We've got some exciting changes to the Google News experience, starting today: along with bigger images on the main page and a realtime coverage section, we're also featuring relevant Google+ posts for a more social perspective. For more info, please check out our Help Center articles, linked below.

Is this supposed to be a good thing? All the bigger image accomplishes is to bring Google News closer to perfecting the look of a cheap-azz wordpress theme, and it loads like one too. Text all over the image until it straightens itself out. Yeah, real classy.
Ya screwed up Gmail and Blogger. Guess it was just a matter of time before ya got around to mucking up the news page, too.
Two thumbs down, Google.

Can we get rid of the larger images? It looks awful on my screen and looks horrible. It seems like every time I get used to the last nauseating change Google makes to its news, they alter something else, and in the words of Honest Bob and the Factory-to-Dealer Incentives, "You don't look right".

Sorry Erik, but this is horrible.
There is a reason I use the Classic view as it has small pictures.
As with literally ALL other changes (new gmail, new groups, and now new news) this is a step backwards.
LEAVE WELL ENOUGH ALONE!
I do not want google+ anything in my news.
This could be the straw that breaks the camels back. Google's new look is all around bad news...

I'd prefer to have the smaller images again. The larger images just take up more space. I want more headlines, not wasted space.
Thank you for at least providing a way to turn off the inclusion of useless Google+ posts.

I can live with the bigger images...but why the goofy animation? That is so needless. On FF 12 on a new PC it's kind of jittery and jagged. Not nice and smooth. It has a jerky, choppy quality to it. There is NO need to enlarge the image which moves my eye from the headline.
Think about it. I'm looking at story headline, so I click the down arrow and the story headline gets scooted over and my eye has to readjust to see where it landed. Why do that?
Seems like Google just tinkers with the news page for hoo-hahs.

How do you turn off the larger images?

Please offer an opt-out setting for the Google+ post integration. I know that's the new Kool-Aid with you guys, but really, someone spouting off in a post about the story du jour is not news, it's noise. I go to Google News for the, well, News. Honestly, these people aren't even in my Circles, why the hell do you think I care what they think?
The more you try to force on us crap that is irrelevant to the original purpose of your sites, the less inclined we're going to be to keep using them. Pass it up the management chain, would you?

There is a way to opt out of the Google+ posts on the News page. Check out "Setting your Preferences" in the Help Center article here.

I would like to know if there are settings for the pictures shown in Google News. I don't fully agree with the majority on this thread, I would like bigger pictures.
