Hey Google Maps users,

Some of you may have heard that last week we started giving you planned service alerts for transit directions in New York City. On Google Maps for Android or on desktop, you’ll see whether any planned service changes are expected to affect that station at the time. In addition, the relevant alerts will be included in the step-by-step transit directions pointing you wherever you’re going.

Transit service alerts on your desktop browser

If you're in the area, be sure to try it out and let us know what you think, we're always looking to hear from you! For more information, visit the Lat Long blog: http://goo.gl/fNPXQ

Thanks,
Daniel

Is there a reason that Google Maps merely shows "alerts" at specific stations, rather than just telling the user the most efficient routes from one place to another taking any schedule exceptions into account?
