Received an invite and experiencing trouble opting in to the new Google Maps Daniel (Google Community Manager) 5/15/13 4:34 PM

If you've received an invite to the new Google Maps and are experiencing issues opting in, try these tips:

  • Make sure you're not using multiple log-ins. Try logging out of all accounts in your browser, then log into only the account to which the email invite was sent. If you were forwarded the email, you'll need to be logged into the account to which the email was sent.
  • Make sure the page didn't time out. Try refreshing the page.
  • Check if it's your browser. Try opening your opt in email in another browser.
  • Try it from the beginning. Clear your cache and cookies, then try re-opening your opt in email.

If that doesn't resolve the issue, please let us know and include your OS/browser and versions, and also your domain (i.e. ".com", ".co.uk", ".de", etc.).

Thanks,
Daniel

Invites are being sent out chunks at a time. Not everyone is getting it right away. You're in line now, so I would say just wait until they get to you.

I am getting exactly the same problem. I have followed the instructions above to no avail. I normally use a non google email to sign in. I received the email to a @googlemail.com address so I signed out of everything and cleared all caches etc and still no joy.

I am using Chrome Version 27.0.1453.93 m on Windows 7 Professional.

I've also tried it on a Mac but same problem.

Thanks for the help.
Ashley

I have the same problem. I received the invite on an @googlemail.com address. I switched to @gmail.com. I keep getting the screen above. I am using Chrome stable release (Version 26.0.1410.64 m) on Windows XP SP3.
I tried asking another invite, but that gets refused as I already have one.

I'm having the same problem. Received the invite on my @googlemail.com address but I switched to @gmail.com a long time ago.
Signing in again, Cleaning cache & cookies didn't help.

Getting the following message:

Sorry, the new Google Maps does not support the browser you are using.

The new version of Google Maps currently only supports Chrome, Firefox, Safari 6+ or Internet Explorer 10+.

I'm using Firefox 20.0.1.

Did all the usual things as suggested above.

Windows 7 tried using Firefox 22.0, Internet Explorer 10.0.9200 and Chrome 26.0.1410.64

I have cleared the cache and cookies. I am getting the error stating that the invitation couldn't be found.

I tried logging in using my gmail address and using my personal email (jefflewis.ws).

Same here...
I'm getting the same message, and I switched from googlemail to gmail after I requested the Invitation.
@support: Perhaps it helps if you activate the new maps for both accounts, googlemail and gmail?

Re: Received an invite and experiencing trouble opting in to the new Google Maps GDany 5/24/13 6:35 AM
Hello Daniel.M,

A couple of weeks before I sent a request for an invitation for The New Google Maps.
Yesterday I received the invitation.
I tried to open the invitation both on Chrome and IE 10. On both I got the same answer:

"Sorry, the new Google Maps does not support the browser you are using.
The new version of Google Maps currently only supports Chrome, Firefox, Safari 6+ or Internet Explorer 10+."

After that I tried everything you suggested, including clearing cache and cookies, but with no success.
When trying to open the invitation after I cleared the cache and cookies on Chrome, I was first asked to login to my Google account.
Just after logging in, I once again received the same message saying that my browser is not supported.
My computer has Windows 7 Ultimate installed and up to date, Chrome Version 27.0.1453.94 m, IE 10 verdsion 10.0.9200.16576 update versions: 10.0.5.

There is one more thing I would like to draw your attention on. On Google Maps site (http://maps.google.com/help/maps/helloworld/) there is no possibility to leave feedback or send a bug report, nor a link to these forums which I found by chance. This is not your first product lacking any possibility to report a bug or to make a suggestion.
I understand that, due to the fact that almost all your products are free (please receive my thanks and my gratitude for this), you do not feel committed to answer to user reports or questions. But I am sure you should be interested to have feedback from users in order to be able to improve your products, especially the new ones.

TIA and best regards,
Daniel.G

I am having a similar issue. I am running Firefox 21.0 on Windows XP.

Thanks.
Re: Received an invite and experiencing trouble opting in to the new Google Maps Legacy2000 5/24/13 8:00 AM
It was nice of Daniel to post this problem roll-up thread; some follow-up from Google would be nice too.

There seem to be different issues here affecting different users for different reasons. My experience may help some users of older systems who are getting the "browser not support" message.

I was unable to access the new maps on an older laptop running Firefox 21 on Windows XP (sp3), but had no problem on a new machine. It turns out that Firefox has disabled WebGL for my graphics driver. Depending on the age of the hardware, in many cases, updating your graphics driver can solve the problem.

Re: Received an invite and experiencing trouble opting in to the new Google Maps Sue73 5/30/13 1:44 AM
Unfortunately I don't have the software to support the new maps, but when I try to go back onto the old maps, it won't let me, it just keeps going to the preview of the new maps which I can't seem to access.

I use google maps all the time and would really like to get back onto it.

I've followed all the steps suggested tried on Chrome, IE and Safari, I am Co.uk domain. I've logged out all accounts and signed in as the correct one. When I click the invitation link it says "Switch account" or "request invitation if I click request invitation again, nothing happens.

I have received an invite to use the new Google maps, and I have already tried a activity but when I go on Google maps it keeps using the old one instead of the new one! I even tried all the suggested solutions to the problem but none of them seem to work. I am using the 27.0.1453.110 m version of Google chrome on a PC.
Re: Received an invite and experiencing trouble opting in to the new Google Maps GDany 6/10/13 11:18 AM
Hello again to everyone,

I received today an informational email from Google Maps, containing links to different tips and tricks videos about the New Maps.
I just followed a link at the bottom of the email saying "Click here to get started" (https://maps.google.com/help/maps/helloworld/desktop/preview/?status=invite&hl=iw&abauth=SwjliatyezXDJtza7_6L2tzdQ8LYoLg4h47W_KdLLkE) and it finally worked in Chrome, after I logged in my Google account.

Thank you Google,
Daniel.G

Began using in Safari, then downloaded Chrome to compare. Unfortunately did not save my invite and Chrome only displays Classic Maps. (Safari displays both.) Shouldn't new maps open in Chrome also?
