How do I remove user names from my Sign in box and how do I get Gmail to remember my passwords? johneskinner 1/14/10 12:16 AM
Explain your issue in full detail here:
Operating system Windows 7.  Panda Internet Security 2010
Accessing Gmail with Google Chrome.
I have a number of user names that appear in my Sign in box and want to remove those I don't need.
I also want to be able to choose whether Gmail will remember the passwords. At one time this was the case but after upgrading Chrome I found that it would not give me the option of remembering the passwords. The "offer to save passwords" option has been selected.
Thank you.
John.

This is a function of your browser.

To turn the feature off:

Firefox: Tools -> Options, Security tab, uncheck "Remember passwords for sites".
IE: Tools -> Internet Options, Content tab, Autocomplete [-> settings], uncheck "User names and passwords on forms" and "Prompt me to save passwords"

To clear existing saved data:
Firefox: Tools -> Clear Private Data, check "Saved Passwords".
IE: Tools -> Internet Options, Content tab, Autocomplete [-> settings], delete autocomplete history.

In addition to bkc56's useful suggestions, you might want to try the following (for deleting usernames manually):

Click on the login field with the mouse (don't type anything). You might have to click more than once to show up a list

Move your mouse (or use the keyboard arrow buttons) to select the username. Don't click - just make sure it's highlighted.

On your keyboard, hit the "Delete" button.

Note that this method doesn't work always. Some browsers support this, and others don't. I know Firefox and Chrome support this method, but I've never gotten it to work with IE.
