How to change original backup email address Marianneland 5/2/09 12:58 PM
When you create a gmail email adress, you are required to enter a backup email address, in case you forget your password, blah blah etc.  I just found out that my backup email address is one from several years ago and that ISP went bankrupt.  So I looked for a place to delete that backup email address, and put my current email address, and NO WHERE can I find where Google has that old email address listed so I can change it to a new alternative backup email address.  Any suggestions?

When choosing an email address, I made a typing error and wish to correct it.I intended to choose sue.e.diver@gmail .com but by mistake typed sue.e....@gmail.com    Could this please be altered?

Look up Help Articles - I found the answer under:

Changing your alternate email address

Sign in to GMail. Click on Google Account Settings.
Change password recovery options under Personal Settings.  You will be prompted to reenter your password.Click the 'edit'  link next to your current secondary address to change it.
Click save to make changes.

I recieve no mail..cause the email no longer exists!~!@#

It won't let me change MY EMAIL!..

It keeps telling me its associated with another account...yet i can't find it!..to delete it..or whatever..sickening..

Settings --> Accounts --> Google account settings --> Change security question

What the hell is that..i can't find the security question even...And no Google Account settings..>>>????..

Only Adsense and Blogger..Youtube..All of them have the same email..and it no longer EXISTS!

Adsense only brings u back to google!@...
Try to change it in youtube..It brings u to Google.--and it won't let me change it in google..I can't find the alternates!~@#

.I changed my blogger..but who the f*ck cares about that..Stupid.

I would choose to email when ppl reply to this...But i won't get it!..ffs..

Mercedes_1,

I recommend that you try a civilised approach when asking questions. then you will probably get answers too.
Re: How to change original backup email address Mercedes_1 12/2/10 6:06 AM
What kind of a response is that.. Is that your attempt at a ''condescending approach''? Your response is completely useless to me.

Trust me-I've tried a civilized approach..You can't contact Google easily>>!
Besides civility is over rated.

I see you found the guidelines..Will that help me or someone else-with the same issue? Trust me, I'm not the only one with this issue..There are thousands.

I'm completely frustrated with it..so if i've offended your delicate sensibilities..There isn't a whole lot I can do about that.
Re: How to change original backup email address gravi_t 12/2/10 9:30 AM
Me neither, but don't expect any help from volunteers with an attitude like that.
Re: How to change original backup email address Mercedes_1 12/2/10 10:44 PM
Are you kidding..? I wasn't expecting any ''help'' with this issue .. I came here to vent! It's blatantly obvious I came here to vent.

This has been going on forever..else I would have found the solution. I'm not a bit shy to read..I will make and have made..numerous attempts at finding a solution on my own. But there are none. That's obvious or you would know it yourself.

And please, don't try and come back at me with..it's because of my ''approach'' that your not helping me..else you would have already..just to show me how clever you are.

The only reason why you responded..was so you could fill your ''Moderator'' needs. Maybe hoping one day you'll become one.

The need to feel superior..with your link to the guidelines. You don't volunteer to help..You volunteer so u feel superior. After all no-one can see your face..you speak to ppl here like you never would to someone in real life.

Simply put..you're a control freak..and a power-tripper.
You'll no doubt try and have me kicked off the forum, just because you can.

Mercedes_1,

Please follow the forum posting guidelines (find the link in my earlier reply) when participating in this help forum. Here are some extracts that I think you should particularly pay attention to:

"This is a community of people who care about Gmail, and we want to keep things friendly. Personal attacks and name-calling are not permitted."

"please be constructive"

"Don't threaten, harass, or bully other users. This includes using profanity to abuse others."

"Breaking these rules may result in your post being removed, and severe abuses may lead to harsher penalties."
Re: How to change original backup email address Mercedes_1 12/3/10 2:21 PM

You're calling me a bully>? who are you..the forum police? Harsher penalties.. go on..
..
Go ahead remove it..I vented, I'm fine now..I could care less top contributor..

Besides..I posted in the wrong forum..lmao! ..Thought it was google help..
...I'm sorry.. but that's funny...

Mercedes_1,

Nobody called you any name here. As far as I can see, it's rather you who has been on the offensive.

It is good to see that you are coming to your senses though: your latest posts almost totally comply with the guidelines. This is great progress on your part!

I do hope you'll be able to find the help forum you were looking for, they are generally easy to find.
