I have my Droid X2 set to sync contacts with my GMAIL account, and told it to always save new contacts to GMAIL, but my existing contacts will not sync.  If I make a new contact, it syncs fine, but he ones already on my phone don't show in GMAIL.

To be clear, these contacts on my phone are in my GMAIL "My Contacts" group, but they don't show in GMAIL on the web.  I've tried disabling contact sync, and re-enabling it.  I've exported to SD card and re-imported, but all that does is create a second set of duplicates on my phone.  The re-imported contacts go up to GMAIL, but there are two of each on my phone.

This seems to be an issue with a previous sync failure I had, where I reset the phone.  Now GMAIL thinks the existing contacts are already there or something, so it ignores them on subsequent syncs.  I have no idea.

But anyhow, my "powered by google" phone is surely not fully "powered".  Any chance someone from google will respond to this issue?

Neither of those is my problem.  All my contacts are stored in the GMAIL account on my DX2, but they don't go up to GMAIL.  If I create a new contact in the phone it will go up, but none of the existing.

It's a s though they are being ignored.  Even though they are on the phone in "My Contacts" they don't go online to GMAIL.

Steven unfortunately, no one indicated that you need to read passed the nonsense to read the answer to your question.  One of the reasons for your problem may be that you are saving the new contacts on your phone into the wrong address book instead of the Google/Gmail book.

I didn't notice the option on the phone either until the answer above mentioned it.  Kind of easy to over look.
