|Unable to configure K-9 Mail for Gmail IMAP access...||foxkat||5/5/10 9:26 PM|
Explain your issue in full detail here:
I am sick of the force closes with the resident email app, and don't want to have to switch between clients, so I am trying out K-9 Mail. I was able to successfully configure for 2 POP3 accounts, but have been unable to configure for Gmail using either POP3 or IMAP. I understand IMAP is the preferred method, but each time I follow the instructions on https://mail.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?answer=114408, I get the error "Setup could not finish", "Username or password incorrect. (Web login required. [Failure])". Can anyone lend a hand here?
I have checked the username and password and they work on the web client from my desktop, so I know they are correct.
Any help would be appreciated.

Did you enable IMAP in your account?
Have you tried the CAPTCHA unlock?

BKennellys suggestion above for disabling the CAPTCHA lock fixed the problems I was having with Gmail log-ins and error messages on my Samsung Moment using the K9 email app. Before disabling the CAPTCHA with this link, the CAPTCHA was preventing my K9 from auto-signing me in. Makes sense if you think about it.
Here's the link to disable it: https://www.google.com/accounts/DisplayUnlockCaptcha

Thanks for everyones input and troubleshooting tips.
