Explain your issue in full detail here:
I'm trying to send an image in the body of my email, rather than as an attachment. Any advice?

You can't paste a PDF into the body of an e-mail, but you can paste a jpg file.
Click on Settings > Labs.
Scroll down the listing, until you reach Inserting Images, and enable it. Save changes (at the bottom of the page!) and then when you open up your Rich Text 'Compose Mail' screen, you'll have a new icon on the formatting bar - it looks like a landscape picture.
Now, when you want to inset an image, you can click on the picture icon, and it'll ask you for the location of the file you want to insert. I presume you can handle from there on .....!

You assumed correctly!!  Outlook is so easy to use, I guess I'm just curious enough to try to sort these other e-mail programs.  Thanks so much for you assistance.
