|Gmail is very slow - takes a long time to open an email - also when composing the system sticks for a few seconds||Elvia||1/4/10 3:52 AM|
It takes a long time for an email to be opened and for the system to open up a new box, like wanting to compose a new message. In addition whilst typing an email the system sticks an jams the cursor and keyboad for a few seconds before releasing the cursor which then allows me to continue typing. This happens every few seconds. It seems to be getting worse. It is so irritating that i have considered changing from gmail.
I use Bitdefender, am a windows vista user;

Have you checked your internet connection?
1. Try clearing your browser’s “COOKIES” and “CACHE”.
2.Download a supported “browser” to use Gmail.

This is often caused by conflicting browser extensions, among which Skype is the most common. Try disabling the extensions to see if it helps, or switch to a different browser.

I followed someone else's response to use the older version of gmail and now it is operating at a faster pace.
Google's gmail has come very close to losing me, very unfortunately.

I am having the same problem that you all are having and I'm curious as to how I download an older version of gmail - please advise. This is so frustrating!!!!!

You can use the older version by clicking the link at the bottom of the page.
Have you tried resetting the https option in Gmail?

I have this exact problem that just appeared seemingly out of nowhere. One day it was OK and the next frustratingly slow and sticking. My computer chap says GMAIL is too big now and cannot cope with the volume.
I will have to move on unless a quick fix.
