|How to use existing PC Lan Internet Connection for Android Phone connected via USB to PC (NO Tethering !!)||Utopas||8/14/09 2:46 AM|
I always found infos about the opposite way - tethering.
I have my phone connected via usb the whole working day with the pc in the office and the pc is 24h on the internet via lan.
How can I use the pc's existing wired internet connection directly with the android phone instead of using the phones GPRS/UMTS etc.
So the PC would act as Gateway from USB to LAN for the phone.

I am also waiting looking to this solution, meanwhile I created WiFi ad-hoc connection and I let HTC Hero to use my laptop wired connection. I found solution on this page

This would work for tethering, because it's possible to write an app that shares the phone's connection with the computer.
In the other direction, to share the computer's internet connection with the phone, you'd need an app on the computer to act as a bridge to the PC's LAN, and an app on the phone to use it. For WinMo, ActiveSync is the PC app.
It would be possible for HTC to build this functionality into their HTC Sync app.

There is a possibility to share mobile's network connection to laptop via USB cable already. Would it be possible just to change phone's iptables to reverse direction?

I found this: http://www.londatiga.net/it/how-to-share-internet-connection-between-pc-and-android-phone-using-wifi/
But you'll need a wireless card in your laptop/pc, as it's not using the USB, but rather the wireless card in your laptop/pc

it is possible to tether over USB, but not easy, and I've never gotten it to work. See this post http://blog.mycila.com/2010/06/reverse-usb-tethering-with-android-22.html
