whenever i try to sync my contacts i get this error msg

"The application Google services Framework(process com.google.process.gapps) has stopped unexpectedly."
Re: "The application Google services Framework(process com.google.process.gapps) has stopped unexpectedly." Kman3d 8/8/10 11:36 PM
Hi,
Goto settings > Accounts & Sync > (goto your gamil account)
You should see there Sync contacts , Sync Gmail, Sync Calendar.
Try to manually sync each one individually.
See on what item you get the error.
Usally you get this error if you have problem with you Calenadar Sync.
So what you need to do is to clear it's data!
goto Settings > Applications > Manage Applications > find "Calendar Storage"
press the clear data button.
That's it, try to sync again...
(If it's not the calinder that causing the problem then you need to clear the relevent data of the problematic item)

Good luck.
Re: "The application Google services Framework(process com.google.process.gapps) has stopped unexpectedly." pdellasega 9/10/10 1:12 PM
Above fix works perfectly... mine was the contacts file. Do exactly as stated above, but find "contacts storage". **may want to back up contacts to SD card first! Go to people > menu > import/export > export to SD card. If you have more than 1 set of contacts (Google, Phone, etc), do each separately.

Saved me a hard reset!!
Thank you Kman3d!

Thanks, Kman3d.  It worked perfectly for me as well.  I kept getting message that calendar has stopped unexpectedly.  Your fix did the trick.
Re: "The application Google services Framework(process com.google.process.gapps) has stopped unexpectedly." MWBoggan 9/29/10 2:38 PM
It did not work perfectly for me. The manual synchronizations went without error, but I'm still getting the error message. I'm also having trouble canceling downloads, specifically the Twitter application and one called Floating Images. I get the error when I try to cancel these downloads, but the downloads aren't working.

I'm using Android 2.2.1, by the way.

The above response worked perfectly. It's really very nice when that happens in life. Thanks.
Re: "The application Google services Framework(process com.google.process.gapps) has stopped unexpectedly." snydez 10/13/10 11:02 PM
Hi,

it seem any application that require login in into google can cause this error.
so last night, i uninstall all such applications.

then go to Settings > Applications > Manage Applications > [either on Downldoad tab or Running tab] Google Services Framework,
tap hold it.
then "clear data" and (maybe) "force stop"

then try login in to google account. voila, no such pop up come out.

I can't find  settings > accounts & sync  - are you referring to the gmail icon on the phone or my gmail.com account?  I'm confused.  Thanks!

I've been having the same problem for almost 2 weeks now. I have droid 2.2 on my phone. Sometimes it syncs and sometimes it gives me a server error and the message that the process stopped unexpectedly! I tried clearing cache but didn't work! Any other alternatives please?
Re: "The application Google services Framework(process com.google.process.gapps) has stopped unexpectedly." Toasyrack 1/17/11 10:55 AM
Worked great for me, my only concern is, will it keep happening, I have only had my Samsung Galaxy S for one week, Great phone, but since I updated the firmware, it no longer works with Samsung Kies software. Any idea's? I don't wish to carry out a factory data reset.
Re: "The application Google services Framework(process com.google.process.gapps) has stopped unexpectedly." angelmarc 1/28/11 2:08 PM
Quick and simple solution for that bug - i have try to follow all post that i was able to find but nothing works
brand new samsung galaxy s 19000 - android 2.2.1
1. turn off sync - you can do just for google calendar [ this is faulty one ]
2.go to settings->apps ->manage apps ->all
3. find calendar storage -> clear cache -> clear
4.find calendar sync -> clear
5.reboot phone
6. reeneble sync

Simple and efective, problem gone - anyway it works for me

will say that guys from google need to workout clear cache for calendar in own system for own email system
Re: "The application Google services Framework(process com.google.process.gapps) has stopped unexpectedly." farmjope 2/11/11 1:38 PM
I have an HTC Evo.  It displays the following error:

"The application Google Services Framework (process com.google.process.gapps) has stopped unexpectedly.  Please try again."

But mine has to do with the Calendar.

I've exported my Google Calendar on a PC, deleted my calendar on the PC, then Force Stopped all calendar related applications (like calendar storage and calendar sync), cleared their Cache so my phone calendar is empty, rebooted the phone, attempt to manual sync, but STILL get the same error.  When I try to add a calendar I'm not able to, there are only 2 calendars listed, PC Sync and Facebook, so my "em...@gmail.com" isn't listed.  Facebook stuff will show up in the calendar but the error will contiune (probably trying to sync with my Google calendar),

Does anyone have another thing I can try?  I'm getting desperate and I don't want to do a hard reset :-(

Thank you for ANY help!!
Re: "The application Google services Framework(process com.google.process.gapps) has stopped unexpectedly." jpmoriarty 2/24/11 12:31 PM
I found it wasn't my calendar but my contacts.  Had to clear all data on the phone to get it to stop error messaging.  Fortunately because I only use google and not the phone for contact storage, it all synced up again as soon as I rebooted the phone, and is now fine.
Re: "The application Google services Framework(process com.google.process.gapps) has stopped unexpectedly." catarinajoao 3/10/11 9:52 AM
I've started to have the same problem a month ago with my galaxy s... It was related to gcalendar, so I did exactly what you say.. Clear cache and the sync was fine.. For 2 days! Then it was the same! After a while many apps we're having the same error. Clear cache was no longer a solution! So I did a hard reset! My phone was back on his foot! Still, I've configured my gaccount and then... The problem was there again... Started with the calendar and then moved on to other apps... It's my 3rd hard reset and a few days latter, it's the same!

GOOGLE... FIX THIS PLEASE!!!!!

PS: If any one is having the same problem please get back to this post, maybe we'll figure out a sollution! Tks u all!
Re: "The application Google services Framework(process com.google.process.gapps) has stopped unexpectedly." ReneNL 3/10/11 1:27 PM
I have a Galaxy S and had the same problem. It started spontainiously.
What worked for me was to clear all cache data in CALENDER (that was the one that gave the message), and once I got that right (had to clear the cache of Google Services Framework too), the problem was fixed.

Thanks everybody

Did NOT work for me - calendar would not clear - so I did a full reboot (that's what tech support always askes first anyway)  That actually did work here.  Phone is working fine now.
Re: "The application Google services Framework(process com.google.process.gapps) has stopped unexpectedly." tijl 4/3/11 4:04 AM
I tried it (cleared data for both mail and calendar, rebooted), but does not work for my tablet. I can't download from market without getting this error message. Furthermore, I can't get rid of the google account in order to reconnect with a new account, even if I choose 'reset to factory settings at 'privacy'). So it seems I'm stuck with a worthless tablet. Where are the famous 'google guides' to give advice that really helps?
Please help?
Re: "The application Google services Framework(process com.google.process.gapps) has stopped unexpectedly." Rapunzl 5/6/11 4:56 PM
I had the same problem with my contacts. For a bit, I couldn't figure out where the Contact Storage was, but I found it wasn't under the initial phone Settings > Applications tab. You have to follow Snydez's suggestion to go under the Running  tab.
Re: "The application Google services Framework(process com.google.process.gapps) has stopped unexpectedly." Ryan-K 5/12/11 9:45 AM
Just wanted to say that I have had this problem for a week now and I've tried deleting the storage of calendar and contacts several times and rebooting, but it wouldn't fix it.  It wasn't until I also deleted the cache of Google services framework (as mentioned by ReneNL above) that it actually fixed it.  Please keep in mind that you will need to log back into some of your apps if you delete that cache, but no big deal . . . especially if it will fix this issue.  So if you have been frustrated with this issue still haunting you after trying the other suggestions, try that one!

Re: "The application Google services Framework(process com.google.process.gapps) has stopped unexpectedly." ilgoldst 5/28/11 10:30 AM
So far so good.  The problem was with my wife's phone.  We've had these for only a couple of months and she hasn't really had time to learn the phone, so she gets frustrated when things go wrong.  I noticed the problem before she did and thankfully found this.  The problem was with contacts. Took a long time to resync (she has a lot of contacts) so I got a little nervous!
Re: "The application Google services Framework(process com.google.process.gapps) has stopped unexpectedly." sn70 6/17/11 3:28 PM
I'm using Gingerbread on a Galaxy S and neither Calendars or Google Service Framework have any cache to delete, but attempting to sync the calendar gives this error.  Any ideas?  If I delete data from the Calendar instead of clearing cache, won't it get deleted from the cal in google itself?

Re: "The application Google services Framework(process com.google.process.gapps) has stopped unexpectedly." undrline 6/19/11 1:11 AM
Kman3d, thanks for this.
pdellasega, thanks for reminding me to back up, first.  I would also note to back up online, just in case.  I don't know if you can accidentally sync an empty data set, but it's better to be safe.  Especially since my problem turned out to be the contacts.
While I'm thanking people, thanks to the subby for including all the keywords for me to find this post.

Optimus V, Android 2.2.1

I did take the advice to turn off sync while I was taking these actions.  I also took the advice to turn off the phone and turn it back on before I restored the contacts.  Don't know if either helped out, but neither hurt.

I did run into a snag.  When everything was restored, my contact list was very short.  I searched for one particular contact, and they didn't show up, and it gave me a "search all contacts" at the bottom of the search results, where they did show up.  I found this post: http://goo.gl/Ez1f9 which describes how to fix the problem by changing your "contact display" options.

Hope my two cents helps someone else out.

Unfortunately all the suggestions do not work for me. I have a Google Nexus One Android 2.2.1

I stopped Calendar sync, cleared Calendar storage, cleared Calender data storage, cleared Google Services Framework cache and rebooted the system.
I started the Calendar sync again and immediately I get the error Google Services Framework has stopped unexpectedly. It is getting quite frustrating now.
Anyone some ideas?

Kman3D's answer was perfect. Much faster than I thought it would be too; took 30 seconds to fix this problem that's been bugging me for 3 weeks!!!
Re: "The application Google services Framework(process com.google.process.gapps) has stopped unexpectedly." undrline 7/5/11 9:50 AM
@gsilly
did you determine that it was a calender sync issue, and not the sync of another service like contacts or email by disabling them all and turning them back on one by one until the error was sparked?

Just wanted to thank Kman3D for the 8/9/10 answer -- like JustFed1, took me 30 seconds to fix this annoying problem I hadn't even had the time to google an answer for until now!  So appreciate people like you taking the time to relay info to people like me :)

I got this problem after i ran the Low Storage Wizard. I've tried to do all the things mentioned above but with no result. I can still see the "Google Services Framework stopped unexpectedly" error.
Re: "The application Google services Framework(process com.google.process.gapps) has stopped unexpectedly." tmopda7 9/28/11 8:40 AM
I am wanting to clear the storage to fix the error, but want to be sure that my calader will sync back from google.  When you clear the calander storage on the device will it also delete any calander events from gmail server?

worked great for me, also.  I went to the verizon store and they had no idea what the problem is.  They simply wanted to reformat my phone.  So glad I didn't let them do that. Thanks for all the tips! :)

Found out my issue was with Sync Docs. Unchecked it and the error went away. I'll reset it in a few days.

Re: "The application Google services Framework(process com.google.process.gapps) has stopped unexpectedly." 强生 11/1/11 2:37 PM
The problem for me was my calendar.  I think the source of my problem was that I modified a single occurrence of a repeating event from my phone (Samsung Replenish).  I was given a quick warning that I couldn't do that from my phone, but I tried anyway. From now on, I plan to only delete things like that from my gmail login, not my phone.

Also, no problems resulted from clearing the data on the phone as per the top most instructions.  Everything synced right back to the phone with no problems.  The only issue is that most (or all) of the changes I made to calendar events from my phone since I modified the repeating event are just as on my Google account before the sync problems started. It makes perfect sense, just be sure to redo any edits you made since your account started messing up.

I've recently been having this problem, but think i've cured it.

I've deleted data from all my google apps (gmail, calendar, reader etc) but most importantly i deleted the data from any other app that was sharing that data - in my case jorte calendar.

Once i'd deleted all this it worked fine

Re: "The application Google services Framework(process com.google.process.gapps) has stopped unexpectedly." rykaimm 12/6/11 7:38 PM
I got this error message a while back when the calendar would try to sync. I fixed it that time with this process: Go to accounts, under the google account, I unchecked sync on the calendar. Then (go to settings - apps - manage apps - all) I cleared the data and cache of all calendar apps, the google calendar sync and the google services framework, then rebooted the phone and turned sync back on. That worked for a couple weeks, but tonight it started again.

I really, really didn't want to do a factory reset as I have tons of apps and stuff in my phone. I had read that this issue is usually the fault of some corrupt data. I have a number of recurring calendar events, so I went through each recurring event, deleted and recreated each one (on my PC, not my phone) and sure enough, one of those was the culprit. As soon as I did this, the message stopped! No clearing data or caches, no rebooting, and voila, the message has not reappeared and my calendar is back to syncing beautifully.

So - if it is your calendar that is giving you this message, try deleting and re-creating your recurring events!! Hopefully it'll help someone out there because I know how infuriating and frustrating this can be!!
Re: "The application Google services Framework(process com.google.process.gapps) has stopped unexpectedly." Johnny Alpha 2/19/12 6:54 PM
I saw this before when I was syncing manually each time . Now I've switched on auto-sync I've started getting this failure several times a day.

The suggestion that this is User's fault, a problem in something they've done in their Google calendar ... !!! ???

That simply shouldn't be possible when one Google system is interfacing with another Google system.

Very annoying and deeply disconcerting that Google still can't get it right.

Good Morning!  I awoke to that frustrating error that everyone else has.  However, mine happens when people are calling in and I try and answer the phone and it locks up and then populates that error.  It has happened three times in the last hour and the people that are calling in are not saved contacts.

Any chance anyone else is getting the error on incoming calls?

Thanks,

Brad
