|Some Lines Missing in Google Docs Table||leigh.zeitz||1/2/11 9:45 AM|
I am using Firefox 3.6.13 on a MacBook Pro running OS 10.6.5
I am running the free version of Google Docs
I love Google docs, but have had some problems with the tables.
When I initially create a table, all of the horizontal and vertical lines are OK.
As I work on it, some of the lines begin to disappear.
Once they are gone, they don't come back.
The cell contents still work as though they were divided by a line but the lines don't appear on the screen. The lines still appear when I publish the table directly to the web and someone sees it.
Here is an image of the broken table.
Interestingly enough, when I publish the table to the web, the lines appear.
I imagine that it has something to do with Firefox, but please don't say that the answer is as easy as using Chrome. Most of our students use Firefox so how can we fix it there?

Interesting - does clearing the browsing data on FF help? Or for that matter refreshing the browser window? Is it repeatable in the sense that it is always the same number of rows before the trouble starts? Also, check you are running at default zoom (Ctrl-0).
Documents tables are notoriously flaky but this is a new bug that I've not seen before, and cannot yet duplicate.

These tables are truly flaky. I returned to my doc and all of the lines have returned.
Yesterday, when I posted this, I had refreshed the page and even closed and reopened the document.
I don't see any consistency in this problem.
We work with a number of students using Google Docs. Some of them have this prob and some don't.
I had not used zoom so I assume that it was at 0. I looked over the controls and couldn't find any Zoom function in Google Docs. Could you tell me where to look?

<< I looked over the controls and couldn't find any Zoom function in Google Docs. Could you tell me where to look?>> No, there is no zoom control as such - you have to click Ctrl-0 [zero] or I guess Cmd-0 on a Mac. This is in fact a browser operation rather than Gdocs, but it does affect how Gdocs displays.
