The Google Chrome team is happy to announce the arrival of Chrome 16.0.912.63 to the Stable Channel for Windows, Mac, Linux, and Chrome Frame.  Chrome 16 contains some really great improvements including enhancements to Sync and the ability to create multiple profiles on a single instance of Chrome.


This discussion will be mostly outdated by the time Chrome 17 becomes stable. This discussion was created in the same intention as the previous discussion at http://www.google.com/support/forum/p/Chrome/thread?tid=6814508c9f48c8f3. Handsomeorlandoman and I have created an online document of problems that contains workarounds, updates, and fixes for the following problems regarding Chrome 16. 1. Downloads are interrupted in Chrome, but finish fine in other browsers.

2. Flash is not showing, leaving a transparent box
Google is looking into this issue at
http://www.google.com/support/forum/p/Chrome/thread?tid=720516bfa9837e43If you do use gfxCardStatus, we're tracking the issue here at http://crbug.com/65755 and you can star it to follow progress.

For those with the transparent hole issue who are not using gfxCardStatus, you can star http://crbug.com/88008 to follow progress as we investigate. Also, try disabling Flash hardware accleration.

3. Flash crashes often.

10. chrome.dll error, Interactive services dialog detection,  A program can't display a message on desktop.
Users have reported that using Chrome 15.0.874.121 and up on Windows Vista or Windows 7 shows chrome.dll errors upon start up, sometimes even when not running. Constant Guard seems to be the cause of this issue.

11. Gmail, Yahoo Mail, or Hotmail Aw snap message.
Update McAfee’s SiteAdvisor extension to solve this problem. Sie_Deen said at the original discussion:

1. For folks who had disabled SiteAdvisor, you can re-enable the extension similar to how you had disabled it. Go to the wrench icon -> Options ->Extensions -> find SiteAdvisor, and check the Enabled checkbox.
2. Once it's re-enabled, you'll notice the McAfee SiteAdvisor extension icon on the right end of the address bar. See Ref[1] below to see what it looks like.

3. Click on the extension icon, and select About
4. In the McAfee SiteAdvisor window that pops up, click on Check for updates

The current SiteAdvisor version is 3.4.0.143. If you continue to have the same crash issues, please try re-installing SiteAdvisor from siteadvisor.com.

12. "This page has insecure content" warning appears on all pages.

Try disabling your extensions one by one to find the culprit.

Hey everybody!

New issue: 13. Unable to tick box for enabling usage statistics and crash reports in options.

Windows users only. Under Wrench > Options > Under the Hood, the box does not check, even though it is not greyed out or shown as disabled in any form. I have escalated this to Jacky and Toni referred to the largest post at  http://www.google.com/support/forum/p/Chrome/thread?tid=519aa78fe966bdc4&hl=en in the bug report at www.crbug.com/106470. Provide the information Toni requests there.

New issue: 14. Weird white rectangular box appears in the browser.

A solid white rectangular box appears on most websites blocking whatever is underneath it. To resolve this issue, uninstall your Download Accelarator Plus extension, as per the instructions referenced.

New Issue: 15. Unable to install extensions from the Chrome Web Store.

Users are reporting that they cannot install extensions from the web store and that the add to chrome button says "checking...". Track the progress of this issue at: http://www.google.com/support/forum/p/Chrome/thread?tid=66a6d85590718eb0&hl=en.

New Issue: 16. The Chrome Web Store icon does not show when disconnected from the Internet.

New Issue: 17. Additional plugin needed.

A new issue is being reported that causes the "An additional plug-in is required to display some elements on this page" warning to appear. This time it is not an extension issue, but a WebKit issue and is already being filed as a bug report at http://www.crbug.com/108228. Frequent Crashes when uploading. Chrome hangs and must be ended and restarted.

This has been reported for a year now....

Isthere any workaround?? Sorry I have stuck with Chrome for many months but I'm about to bail...

Latest: 16.0.912.75 m   WinXP SP3, otherwise stable system.  No problems with Firefox...

I am continuing to have strange error popups when using Google Images. I've discussed my issue here:

and had no response besides people saying they have the same issue.

I've tried disabling all my extensions, reinstalling, etc but the lack of response to a problem that myself and several other users are experiencing is a little disappointing - it's not even mentioned in your issues list. Is this a localized problem or has it just been overlooked? It's really irritating that Google software is experiencing errors when using Google.

I have tried over and over to install Google Chrome. I have windows 7 and I do not understand why it will not install it. Will someone please help me to install this. My internel explorer keeps crashing a lot and I am so tired of that and someone told me to install Google Chrome but I cannot install it. It just keeps saying it cannot install.  Please help........ New Issue: 18. Crash after closing a YouTube tab

Chrome would stop responding after closing a YouTube tab. We've corrected the issue that was causing this, and you should no longer experience a hang when closing a YouTube tab. Updating Chrome is not required, refreshing the YouTube tab should resolve the problem. If you continue to experience this issue, please post in the thread below.

I have a problem with my profiles.

I was waiting on a webpage to load while using Incognito mode. I used Task Manager to shut down Chrome because it was being slow and unresponsive. Now when I log on, I get the plain Chrome that looks like I just installed it, and there's a pizza slice icon in the taskbar????

I can't switch to my old Chrome profile and I was never able to sync it online. What can I do to recover it? I had a lot of bookmarks and other personal customizations to Chrome, so I really need the old profile back...

Using Chrome 16.0.912.77  with a Windows 7 laptop. I can't switch between accounts at all, and if I delete the account that says current, it closes the browser. If the profile I need is the only one available, it auromatically makes a new profile!!

Update: I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the browser, but that didn't do anything. My profile is still there. I can't find my profile on my hard drive though.

Do these commands work on other browsers?
Is JavaScript on Chrome enabled?
Can you send us a link to the page or any type of illustration of exactly what code you are trying to write in?
