|Google chrome does not work||xxShabsxx||7/7/10 6:21 PM|
This is my last place to turn. I CANNOT get google chrome to load any page whatsoever, Inclues History, Downloads or just a normal webpage (i.w. Google.com). After a while the webpage becomes unresponsive and I get the options to either Kill or Wait. I've reinstalled the program, changed the LAN settings countless amount of times and no matter what I Cannot get it to work. Every other browser works (Safari, Firefox, IE8) but chrome is stubborn and does not want to load. I've used chrome since the VERY first Beta release and this is the first time I have had an error with it.
OS - Windows 7 Ultimate x86
Processor - Intel Core2 Duo @ 2.53GHz
RAM - 2GB DDR2
Network - Intel WiFi Link 5100 AGN
Video Card - ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4650
I've read every single question and answer on errors to Chrome and cannot find my solution, so this is my last place to turn.
Thank you In advance.
NOTE: Restarting Internet, Wireless Adapter, Modem, Computer or uninstalling/re-installing seem to work.

Same here - Chrome stopped working for me a month or so ago. I re-installed newest ver of Chrome today and it died at startup. I then used the 'fix' to rename the 'Default' dir to 'Backup default' dir. Now I get one step further but Chrome then dies when I try to import bookmarks from Firefox. Too much trouble to bother with - going back to Mozilla for now ...

I have the exact same problem!! I uninstalled and re-downloaded Chrome and reinstalled, no fix! I checked viruses, malware, spyware, everything... it's nothing I can find... The Internet settings and proxy have been checked, re-checked, but Chrome will not run!!! I have been using Chrome since beta as well, and am on Windows 7 64-bit. I now am using Internet Explorer 9beta, which works fine. All my Internet apps work just fine, EXCEPT CHROME!
Why are so many people having this problem, and Chrome not being able to answer??

Just fixed it. At first I deleted Chrome and reinstalled it. No love! I then deleted all of my history and cache and it finally loaded.

I deleted all the history under Spanner > Tools > Clear Browsing Data. Cleared everything except passwords and autofill and this fixed the problem. There are quite a few pages dedicated to this problem in the help forums, this is the suggest solution for most people. The other main suggestion is to run an anti-virus scan to clean a malware problem which causes this.
