How do I fix Error 105 (net::ERR_NAME_NOT_RESOLVED): The server could not be found. Lexyxel 7/27/09 10:43 PM
Since yesterday I couldn't open Facebook. And ONLY Facebook. It shows the message Error 105 (net::ERR_NAME_NOT_RESOLVED): The server could not be found. I can open other website, it's fine but not Facebook.
I've tried using Firefox and IE, I still can't open Facebook.

How can I fix this?

try this, which will clear everything which could be wrong

wrench->clear browsing data (wrench is that rightmost icon in the address bar)
and make sure
clear history, empty the cache, delete cookies are checked
and make sure clear data from this period is set to everything

and press clear browsing data

Re: How do I fix Error 105 (net::ERR_NAME_NOT_RESOLVED): The server could not be found. rohitpathak 6/2/10 4:53 AM
Switching to Google's DNS servers (instead of the ones provided by my ISP Bharti Airtel) worked for me - 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4
I made the change in my DI-524 wireless router.
See http://www.infoq.com/news/2009/12/Public-DNS-Google

Re: How do I fix Error 105 (net::ERR_NAME_NOT_RESOLVED): The server could not be found. PB19 12/5/10 1:34 PM
I disabled my TOR and reset the DNS as above, so far so good but this is the second time I've changed the DNS settings on my router. The other ones which worked for a short time were 208.67.222..222 and 208.67.220.220. I'm looking into what these do but I am happy that at least GC is again working!!

Another page  - http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20100508162321AArTk3B recommended pareto logic PC health advisor to locate and fix the issue I havent tried that as it seems to be working okay for now, fingers crossed!

update I now get told that "my profile cannot be used because it is from a newer version of GC. Some features may be unavailable. Please specify a different profile directory or use a newer version of chrome" I am on the latest updated version and have no profiles that I am aware of connected with GC WTF Google, come on sort it out...

Changing the DNS settings to 8.8.8.8. and 8.8.4.4. on BOTH the modem/router AND on each pc on my network in the Tcp/Ip lan or wan settings (in detail bellow) solved this ERROR 105 issue for me,
but only when utorrent is off. If I open it and start downloading the problem continues, until I stop all traffic. Can anyone tell me why this is?

DNS FOR DUMMIES (Or DNS for me, last week.....)

To change DNS settings (in Win 7) go to Control Panel / Network and Internet / Network and Sharing Center (may be listed as "View Network Status and Tasks" in control panel)

Next click on your connection (Local area network or Wireless area network)

click on Properties

select Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IP v4)

click on Properties (yes, again, but this is a different window)

click Advanced and select the DNS tab

Select any DNS addresses here and Click remove. Make sure there are non left

Click OK. you should now be back at the "Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IP v4)" window

without altering the IP settings at the top, select "Use The Following DNS Server Addresses"

in the first area write 8 . 8 . 8 . 8 .
in the second write 8 . 8 . 4 . 4 .

next either:

1 select "Validate Settings Upon Exit" and press ok
or
2 press ok and then restart the network connection for changes to take effect
(In other words find your connection in "Network and Sharing Center" and click the
"Connect or Disconnect" option above it to disconnect, then select connect to a network in the
same window, select your network and click connect")

P.S. The first time I tried this fix the Tech guy on the phone didn't mention restarting the network Obviously, it did not work for this reason!!

I've the same problem so I googled and found this solution:

For Mac OSX Leopard

Step 1 (System Preferences):
Open your system preferences and select the Network panel (it will be in the Internet and Wireless section).
Step 2 (Network preference pane):
In the Network preference pane, make sure your network connection is selected (Airport or Ethernet) and click “Advanced”.
Step 3 (DNS tab):
Open the DNS tab in the next panel and add Google’s DNS servers using the “+” button.
DNS Server 1 (preferred): 8.8.8.8
DNS Server 2 (alternate): 8.8.4.4

Dear guys,

This could b fruitful 2 u. i fixed my prob by using this.

1. Click "Start", input "NCPA.CPL" (without quotation marks) and press Enter.
2. Right click on the connection that you use for the local connection, and then click "Properties".
3. Click to select "Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)", and then click "Properties".

4. In the Internet Protocol window, let's change the "Preferred DNS server" to 208.67.222.222

5. Click 'OK' twice to complete the modification.

If the issue persists, please repeat the steps and change the "Preferred DNS server" to 208.67.220.220.

Meanwhile, I would appreciate your help in clarifying that if the network is based on a router or a DSL modem. If there is a router, please bypass it and connect to DSL modem directly for a test.

Tuskil's method worked for me (running Windows 7, Chrome 13.0.782.112). And I was about to blame my ISP. Thanks!
