Is there any way to hide the google chrome extension icons? Sometimes they are a little annoying, and i wish i could re-oreder some of them too.

Until an official way is developed, you could disable and re-enable your extensions in the order you want them to appear (this of course becomes less practical if you have lots of extensions or add new ones often). but this might help a few people bring a bit of order to 'the toolbar.'

If you are subscribed to the Google Chrome developer channel, the latest update supports these two features:
1) Re-ordering of extensions via drag-and-drop.
2) Hiding of extensions by sliding the extension area to the right.
With #2, extensions which are not visible are accessible via a drop-down menu, similarly to the bookmarks bar.
It should be version 5.0.317.2.

Drag and drop. Just tired it and it worked for me.
