I'm having the same problem.... on one specific computer. Every time I close Chrome, it signs me out... even if I don't reboot... I close Chrome and it logs me off.... but I stayed logged into Google/Gmail/G+. I have 3 or 4 laptops that I use... and I stay logged into Chrome on those all the time...even after rebooting. I've uninstalled and re-installed Chrome on the PC with the issues... and it did not solve the problem. I can usually figure this kind of stuff out, but this one has me stumped.

I started seeing this issue when I reverted from Beta (18.0.xx.xxx) to the current Stable version (17.0.xx.xxx). I have two profiles that I sync with my work computer. Chrome kept signing me out of Chrome but not out of Google. I resolved it by going back to Beta. Go to https://www.google.com/landing/chrome/beta/ to download the latest beta and see if that resolves the issue.

Chrome thinks you want to clear cookies on shutdown. You need to cycle that setting on and then back off.
Step by step:
1. Wrench menu --> settings --> click "Under the hood" --> click "Content settings ..." under Privacy
2. Check the box "Clear cookies and other site and plug-in data when I close my browser"
3. Close the settings tab.
4. Close chrome, and then launch it again.
5. Follow step 1 and uncheck the box you checked in step 2.
6. Close the settings tab.
7. Close Chrome.

New Version of chrome does not have "Under the hood"

Click the wrench icon, go down to Settings, under Privacy click on Content Settings, the first thing you should see is Cookies, Click the box "Allow local data to be set (recommended"
