|Why does MyStart.Incredimail override any of my attempts to re-install Google Chrome ? I don't want MyStart garbage !||para1973||5/12/10 6:44 PM|
Please describe your question/comment in detail (for example, steps to reproduce the problem):
Google Chrome version (type about:version into the address bar):
Operating System:Error Message:Crash ID (follow the steps here: http://goo.gl/fKKK):URLs (if applicable):Extensions installed:
I, unfortunately, made the mistake of being curious about Incredimail and installed it - I should have known better ! Previously, hitting the Google Chrome icon on my home page brought up Google Chrome - what a pleasant surprise ! However, since making the fatal mistake of installing Incredimail (which I CANNOT get rid of), hitting the Google Chrome icon brings up MyStart.Incredimail which apparently I am stuck with...All my attempts to reload Google Chrome have met in failure - they are apparently blocked by MyStart...
WARNING TO YOU ALL - Avoid MyStart.Incredimail like the plague unless, of course, you want to see Google Chrome disappear ! You,can circumvent MyStart with some additional steps and eventually locate Google Chrome but it is time-consuming and annoying and should not be necessary when, previously (before MyStart) Google Chrome appeared virtually instantaneously ! I am wandering if MyStart is secretly run by Microsoft - we know how much Mr.Gates loves Google !!!

With regard to MyStart hijacking google chrome. This problem occured with me and I tried all the usual things to get rid of it, but here's how I succeeded.
At some point Incredimail offered you "Incredimail 2" absolutely free. They said you would get all the benefits, like "Gold Gallery", no advertisements, etc. Now, here's where MyStart comes in. Along with that "free" package came MyStart. After several attempts to rid myself of it here's what worked for me.
(1) I uninstalled Google Chrome. (2) restored my computer to an earlier date (before Incredimail 2). (If the first restore point doesn't work, take it back to an earlier date until your computer reverts to Incredimail 1. If you've had Incredimail 2 for a long time you may have to uninstall this first.) (3) When your computer tells you that you have successfully restored to the earlier date, reload Google Chrome and it should be fine.
Like I say, this worked for me, hope it works for you. All the best George Glass

How do I replace MyStart with a different search provider?
To replace IncrediMail MyStart with a different search provider, please click the link below that matches your browser:
Internet Explorer 6
Internet Explorer 7
I did Firefox and It worked I would imagine the IE instructions would be the same *** I did have to open Write in IMail to get the tools menu though******
NOTE: Everytime you upgrade Imail it will try to change your homepage.
However, if you do not wish to make IncrediMail's MyStart your homepage, and would like to set something else as your homepage, please follow these steps:
Open Mozilla Firefox and search for the page you wish to use as your homepage.
Once the page is loaded, select the 'Tools' drop-down menu and select 'Options...'
Click the 'Use Current Pages' button (marked in red) to set the web site you are currently viewing as your homepage
Click the 'OK' button.
In addition, to prevent IncrediMail from alerting you regarding the change you have made in the future, please do the following:
Select the 'Tools' drop-down menu and select 'Options'.
In the window that opens, click the 'Security' tab and uncheck the 'Notify me about changes in my homepage settings' checkbox (marked in red).
