How do I get rid of something called Text Enhance using Chrome? traceyck 10/12/11 6:35 PM
Google Chrome version (type about:version into the address bar):Operating System:Error Message:Extensions installed:
Please describe your question/comment in detail (for example, steps to reproduce the problem):

I am so tired of the green double underlined words that open up a small window with whatever they want. I am so not interested and since I read with my mouse out of habit, these windows are always in my way.

I am using Google Chrome.

Thanks for any advice.

Re: How do I get rid of something called Text Enhance using Chrome? succubus68 10/14/11 2:28 AM
I've tried this but text enhance isn't in the list of extensions. So where is it coming from? Its sooooo annoying!!
Re: How do I get rid of something called Text Enhance using Chrome? Stefan vd 10/14/11 5:06 AM
Then the website you visited added it self in the page.
The green double underline word is ads. So that webmaster can earn money, when you hover or click on the link.

A solution, use a adblock extension.

Hello, we apologize that you are having trouble with the TextEnhance product. If you are seeing these links, then a web publisher has decided to offer them to you. If you would like to opt-out of seeing these links, visit: http://optout.textsrv.com/optout.php

no really... textEnhance needs to disappear from my computer permanently.. not just as long as i have a cookie installed.. i mean permanently... when i remove cookies i want my browser to be as "I" programmed it to be.. no how textenhance wants it.
Re: How do I get rid of something called Text Enhance using Chrome? fgquinto 12/22/11 2:40 PM

Re: How do I get rid of something called Text Enhance using Chrome? AngMan1022 12/22/11 4:43 PM
Yeah, I'm pretty pissed off that your stupid Malware just showed up on my computer. I don't how your TextEnhance system/program or what ever it is got on my computer and was initiated but I didn't sign up for it nor agree to it. Nor Have I installed or upgraded any applications on my computer so I'm pretty sure this application/service is ILLEAGLE. HOW DO I REMOVE YOUR CRAP FROM MY COMPUTER!?
Re: How do I get rid of something called Text Enhance using Chrome? AngMan1022 12/22/11 4:45 PM
Additionally I'm the design developer and server administrator for the site that I'm seeing the links on so I know that the "Web Publisher" didn't decide to offer them to me because I am the "Web Publisher"
Re: How do I get rid of something called Text Enhance using Chrome? cherry-bomb 12/29/11 2:46 PM
It is easy to get rid of this - go to the extensions in your chrome browser.  There will be an extension that says something like "WX . . ."  or "MX. . ."  Remove that extension.  TextEnhance are sneaky people who are not to be trusted - this is why they named their extension something that looks unrelated.  Also, since they are so fiendish, it is possible that they will rename that extension at a later point.  Most people do not need any extensions in chrome, so, if you do not see the "WX" or "MX" extension, just remove all your current extensions and re-install any that you feel you need.  This will fix your TextEnhance problems.

Also, if you "opt out" as they recommend above, then they place a cookie on your browser and track you using that cookie.  TextEnhance represent everything wrong with the Internet.

I got rid of by going to extensions in chrome and uninstalling an unfamiliar looking extension (which was named premium codec cc !!!--  sneaky ). These people should be sued..

In response to the answer that says, "Sorry you are having trouble with the TextEnhance product.  If you are seeing them then a web publisher has decided to offer them to you."  I AM A WEB PUBLISHER and I did not offer them.  Your system is malware that is infecting my web visitors.
Re: How do I get rid of something called Text Enhance using Chrome? kategeorgia 1/12/12 1:03 AM
I also found it in my extensions under "Premium Codec". If any of you have it, uninstall it and the problem should go away. Sneaky bastards. That was annoying me for DAYS and I had no idea what it was.
Re: How do I get rid of something called Text Enhance using Chrome? Drumstep-Master 1/22/12 3:23 AM
I am also a web publisher and I did not post any annoying links on my site. Whatever 'Text-Enhance' is it's a form of malware/adware. The site to opt out of 'Text-Enhance' doesn't work. You'll also find that it's no longer one of your extensions. A good malware/adware removal software like IObit or Zonealarm should remove this.
Re: How do I get rid of something called Text Enhance using Chrome? simps08 1/30/12 10:33 AM
I'm using Firefox and I've been getting the same annoying useless pop-ups. I went in to tools, add-ons, and disabled something called premium codec-c, pop-ups are gone! Someone had this information listed above for chrome under extensions, and it's the same with mine, just under add-ons. It looks like it's an add-on when you update your browser...
Re: How do I get rid of something called Text Enhance using Chrome? Sapsorrow 2/8/12 11:15 AM
I removed from Chrome and Firefox an extention called "I want this". The problems went away. Thanks for the help!

Glad to find this page and the helpful suggestions.

These "Text Enhance" douchebags should be charged with criminal mischief for their deceitful business practices.
Re: How do I get rid of something called Text Enhance using Chrome? BrayenB 2/13/12 11:34 AM
Extensions codec-c or somthing like that..... i removed it and that solved the problem. As user "cherry-bomb" said: They changed the name... I think they have more extensions with different names.

Hi everyone,

If you still have a problem with Text Enhance software go to the there support page.
Re: How do I get rid of something called Text Enhance using Chrome? ImConfused 2/19/12 2:29 PM
Trying to remove this MALWARE from your system by going to text-enhance.com's own site won't work. Even if you ask to opt-out, they will NOT remove the malware software from your computer and the ads will reappear in a couple of days. I am the webmaster of 15 sites and I DID NOT give permission for these ads to show in my browsers for my own sites. I have tried to remove extensions from Google Chrome. Nope. I have tried to remove malicious programs from Firefox, directly from the programs (look for a program called 'facetheme''. It's malware from text-enhance.com). This also didn't stop the ads from coming back. What finally worked was to download Malwarebytes software, run a scan on my computer and let the software remove it for me. I haven't seen one of their scammy, illegal ads since.
Re: How do I get rid of something called Text Enhance using Chrome? herbladyisin 3/2/12 10:34 AM
Hi, I am really angry. I thought my website had been hijacked...spent hours to try to remove it off my webpages...couldn't..went to bed....researched and found out it was in the toolbar. I opted out of text enhance...still there...so went into firefox ...tools...addons and took out two toolbars....and its gone now.  I only left the yahoo tool bar and the avg toolbar. It is gone now so is not connected to the yahoo toolbar.  This was a complete intrusion of our rights.
Re: How do I get rid of something called Text Enhance using Chrome? herbladyisin 3/2/12 11:01 AM
I want this was one of the add ons that I disabled. I am not even sure how I got it.  So  that one is one of the culprits.

Thanks for the top tips everyone...btw the 'best answer' at the top of this page is NOT the best answer (do NOT go to their support page). You need to do the second thing and remove it from your extensions. Mine was under 'yontoo' so I wasn't sure about deleting it but it got rid of the annoying underlines. It was also showing adverts in the BBC news website which, as a British resident, was infuriating I can tell you.

Finally rid of the annoying malware so thanks again!

Additionally use the firefox toolbar help and restart with add-ons disabled. Re-enable only the add-ons you want. Yahoo employs a similar trick. It's an add-on but it doesn't appear in the add-on list. It IS however there hidden away from view. The same technique will get rid off it.

Where is the answer  to this question?
Re: How do I get rid of something called Text Enhance using Chrome? TextEnhanced Scamed 6/6/12 7:36 AM
This seems to be a sort of grey area malware.  I was able to successfully remove it after I uninstalled the google chrome extension "I Want This". They seem to randomly change extension names.

Furthermore to comply with google standards they seem to have a support page to remove their extension. However this is just a way to mislead you. The page that loads just tells you to remove their extension and the link that would do it for you never loads.

To remove them I recommend going to a site where you get their ads then opening your extension tab and disabling them one by one as you reload the page with the ads, till they are not there and that will be their extension.

Anyone sending you links to their support page is clearly one of their employees .

When I went to Extensions, it showed up as CodecC 1.0 as attached. I disbaled that and it went away.

I do not get what the best answer by stefan even means.

i went to Tools > Extensions, saw this dubious extension called Borowwsae2save 3.8 .
removed it, and problem was solved.
my suggestion is to just remove any extension that you didn't install.

cheers :)
