Google search engine doesn't work... JoshNaylor 6/4/09 2:56 AM
Every time I put something into the bar it gives me the 'oops, this link appears broken...'. the same thing happens when I right click, 'search with google'

I have tried switching to other default search engines (yahoo, bing) and they appear fine. At first I thought it was an issue on the dev channel so I switched back to a stable build and that didn't cure the problem.

It just gives me the 'did you mean www.google.com/search' as the navigation suggestion...

Go to options and then click on manage for the search engines.  Where you have your google search engine click on this and then click edit.  In the url part of the screen paste the following:

http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&q=%s&btnG=Google+Search&meta=&aq=f&oq=

This should sort out your problem.  Oh and change the .co.uk in the first part of that to .com or wherever you want to use google from.  Then click ok and then click make default if you want to make it your default search.

Thanks sprudd, I tried editing the google entry that is already on there but it wouldn't let me so I just had to create a new one. I thought initially that maybe I had deleted something from that but as I couldn't edit it I'm not sure how I could have messed it up. Works fine now, any particular reason why it would suddenly stop working?

Not sure why it should stop working - I wouldn't worry, as it is working now.
