Oops! Google Chrome could not connect to www.facebook.com davisalvi 8/7/10 5:53 AM
Please describe your question/comment in detail :

It's only facebook I can't visit.  I was able to log in to Facebook yesterday.  My PC updated yesterday as well and when I opened my PC today, this problem occurs.  I tried to clear the cache, cookies and temporary internet files.  No good.

I use a direct internet connection without a proxy server.

Google Chrome version : 5.0.375.125

May be some one has block website.
Solution:-   go through ths  C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc and find hosts in it and open with notepad or wordpad it should be like ths # Copyright (c) 1993-2009 Microsoft Corp.
#
# This is a sample HOSTS file used by Microsoft TCP/IP for Windows.
#
# This file contains the mappings of IP addresses to host names. Each
# entry should be kept on an individual line. The IP address should
# be placed in the first column followed by the corresponding host name.
# The IP address and the host name should be separated by at least one
# space.
#
# Additionally, comments (such as these) may be inserted on individual
# lines or following the machine name denoted by a '#' symbol.
#
# For example:
#
#      102.54.94.97     rhino.acme.com          # source server
#       38.25.63.10     x.acme.com              # x client host

# localhost name resolution is handled within DNS itself.
#        127.0.0.1       localhost
#        ::1             localhost

IF SOME ONE BLOCKED WEBSITE IT WILL BE LIKE THS

Re: Oops! Google Chrome could not connect to www.facebook.com Taylor5 8/5/11 11:42 AM
Hi mjuanita / isz / dankic,

A few questions / troubleshooting steps:

1) Clear *all-time* cache and cookies
(Wrench menu > Options > Under the hood > Clear browsing data)

2) Does this issue happen in other browsers? (Internet Explorer, Firefox, etc)

3) Make sure Chrome is allowed in anti-virus and firewall software

4) What version of Chrome are you on? (type about:version into Omnibox / address bar)
Note: that you should be on 13.0.782.107. If you're running an older version, go to wrench > About Google Chrome to trigger an update automatically.

Thanks,
Taylor

Re: Oops! Google Chrome could not connect to www.facebook.com Gouye 8/31/11 1:07 AM
Here are the proper steps guys.

1 Install SuperAntiSpyware. Its free and it really removes malwares adwares and so on.

2. After installation, go for a complete scan with it.

3. Delete all the spywares found and reboot ur pc,laptop.

4. My Computer> Local disk C> Windows> System32> drivers> etc.

5. Once there, unhide all files and folder and u should see a file called 'hosts'.

6. Open it with Microsoft word, Ctrl+F to open the Find window. type in facebook and go for a search.

7. Delete all the lines where facebook appears and save the changes.

8. Open ur browser and try connect to www.facebook.com :)

VOILA!!!

Re: Oops! Google Chrome could not connect to www.facebook.com jahimbo 10/1/11 1:25 PM
I had this problem with chrome, ie, and firefox.  I knew it had to be something in common.  At first I thought it was AVG, but could not resolve it there.  This was the common denominator.  Thanks... Google ROCKS!
Re: Oops! Google Chrome could not connect to www.facebook.com Prorsum 11/7/11 1:22 AM
I have this problem with chrome, ie, firefox on another website. Clearing all cookies etc, turning off Kaspersky didn't help. Everything up-to-date. Checked the HOSTS flie it's what should be. However I can go to the site on my iphone so it should be my PC's problem. Please help.
Re: Oops! Google Chrome could not connect to www.facebook.com Prorsum 11/7/11 2:37 AM
Edit: Tried what Gouye said. When SuperAntiSpyware was scanning, I surfed the site on my iphone on 3G. Then I swithed my iphone connection to home wifi, the site cannot be accessed. Looks like it's the wireless modem/router blocking the site as SuperAntiSpyware didn't help.

Re: Oops! Google Chrome could not connect to www.facebook.com Faucets-Unlimited 1/31/12 1:09 PM
I had the same problem but not with facebook. It turns out it was my router. Try by-passing your router and re-connecting to the site. That worked for me. Then I unplugged the power to the router, hooked it back up, and was able to get to the site even with the router.

Re: Oops! Google Chrome could not connect to www.facebook.com fordy 6/5/12 3:37 PM
okay, this problem is all to do with your download speed or internet connection. you simply have too many computers using the internet or too many open tabs or just  have a really bad download speed. try closing all tabs then going to the site that doesn't load.
