From time to time I'll go to a website but not all the pictures will show up. Instead of the picture there will be a small page with a corner torn off. What is causing this? Why won't all the pictures load? I already deleted my cookies, temp internet files, etc but it hasn't helped.

If you could leave a url to the sites where you aren't seeing these images we could go to them and see if they load for us. Try different browsers to see if they load.
Some webmasters screwup sometimes by deleting their images or move them to the wrong directory. When this happens there is no way to view them.
|Re: Images not showing up on some websites||dlopeman||9/22/09 8:23 AM|
There seems to be a bunch of people with this similar issue (little squares showing, but no image), but under many different circumstances. It might behoove us to start creating a list of solutions. I saw somewhere that it has something to do with the color rendering of pictures. I.e. render JPG in RGB and not CMYK. That wasn't my problem.
Google chrome has a nice little feature. Right-click the picture, or any element I guess, and choose "Inspect Element." I could see the HTML code, and the CSS styling. As it turns out, I had a "height: 1%" CSS setting, to satisfy crappy IE6... I changed it and began to see my picture. Removing it altogether fixes it.
Safari (4, I have 3 at home and will test later) was also having this similar problem, (with the little squares instead of pictures)... and now it shows them, too.
I'm going to post this in a few different forums.

A lot of people are facing this problem where images are not shown when a web page is accessed. I am a big google chrome fan simply because of its speed and responsiveness. But this problem is kind of throwing me off my belief.
This problem has started after i started using 18.104.22.168 version (which i believe is the latest). Please find a soln for this....
There is no similar issue with other browsers (i also use Opera and FF)
|Re: Images not showing up on some websites||JoePepper||12/16/09 10:37 AM|
Just started having this problem too. Back to Firefox I guess.
|Re: Images not showing up on some websites||afxoon||1/1/10 9:01 PM|
I too had this problems for two days and i came up with a solution. i just wanted to share because many of you are still help less about what is going on. i will short list what i did! I can't guarantee if it will work, but for sure it worked for me!
1 -un-check "Use DNS pre-fetching to improve page loading performance." = to do this got to "settings" (wrench icon") > Options > Under the hood.
2. mu bro who some times uses my PC, have installed some programs called nice nicknames (its for MSN messenger i guess) and premium options, also Ask tool bar, i unsistalled them and restart my browser!
IT WORKED FINE FOR ME.
try it and give some feed backs!
|Re: Images not showing up on some websites||Digetaamann||1/7/10 4:54 AM|
I experienced the same problem, but seemed to have found a solution by removing Adobe's Extensible Metadata Platform (XMP) from the image - it's a kind of metadata attached to the pic. I simply opened the picture and saved it again without the XMP and now it shows in Google Chrome.
|Re: Images not showing up on some websites||Sneighke||1/7/10 5:34 AM|
Wow, you guys have images not showing up? I have no page content show up and so, apparently does the XP version (Linux here).
Yep, Not ready for late-night yet much less prime-time. Back to FF I guess which I cannot WAIT to test against Chrome!
New to Linux Chrome here, had it on XP before Windows puked. Was glad to finally see a Linux version... And also sad to see nothing on any page!
Will send in bug reports if anything new and different, or confirms shows up...
|Re: Images not showing up on some websites||EL Don||3/19/10 6:27 PM|
I had the same problem as most of you.
I tried removing the dns, Clearing the browsing data, removing the gears, resetting everything as Default but nothing worked.
So I started removing some extension. almost all of my extension are from google.
The only extension that was not from google was AdBlock. Once I removed it. all of the websites that I had issues with started working again. Now I can see Pictures .. lol =)
I hope this helps.
|Re: Images not showing up on some websites||conk||3/23/10 7:20 AM|
The Chrome extension called AdBlock is the culprit, causing Facebook profile pics to not load. Disable or uninstall it and your pics will be back.

I am currently having this problem with all browsers.
|Re: Images not showing up on some websites||ihearttinytim||4/20/10 7:41 PM|
Well, I uninstalled it, and it still hasn't done anything for me. Now what do I do? I'm running Firefox 5.0 I still can't get pictures to show up on sites like Target.com, etc. Actually, there's a forum I belong to, and all the images show up there, but on other sites, I can't see any images.

I am using Chrome and still waiting for someone to solve the problem
|Re: Images not showing up on some websites||android.nick||11/17/11 3:41 AM|
1st: If you're using the beta or dev version, try uninstalling it and install the release version at http://www.google.com/chrome
2nd: if you enabled anything in about:flags then disable it (you can type "about:flags" - without the quotes into the Address bar to see a list of expiremental features, such as smooth scrolling, etc. If you haven't messed with this, then don't go in there and touch anything, you would have had to personally messed with stuff in there for it to be different from the default settings)3rd: disable all extensions
4th: even if you have the stable release version of Google Chrome, try uninstalling it, then re-install it.
5th: uninstall all of your extension, not just disabling them. (this I would probably try last, as you'll have to go back and find all of your extensions to re-install if it doesn't help)
After trying one or more of the things on this list, i'm positive it will be working again. If this isn't a problem that EVERYONE is having, then there's something wrong with YOUR computer/configuration of Chrome.
I'm currently experiencing this problem, and i'm going to follow my own advice and see if it fixes the problem.
|Re: Images not showing up on some websites||alissahyoo||12/12/11 1:42 PM|
I'm no computer expert. Chrome had no problem with my PC. I recently switched to a Macbook Pro and noticed so many problems with videos playing, images showing and websites loading properly. After playing around with a couple settings, this seemed to work for me.
First I tried this:
- Open Chrome > Click Wrench symbol (Settings for Chrome) > Preferences > Under the Hood > Uncheck "Predict network actions to improve page load performance"
Then I did this:
- System Preferences (on Mac) > Network > Advanced > Proxies OR (Open Chrome > Click Wrench symbol (Settings for Chrome) > Preferences > Under the Hood > Change Proxy Settings) > Uncheck "Use Passive FTP Mode PASV > Apply
Then, everything seemed to be working correctly.

ok all here is what u do. go to google.com in the top right there is an option menu a little square box click it. go to search settings. there is a results per page set that to 100. if u cannot mess with this option u have to turn the first setting off (google instant predict). now u should be able to set per page to 100. cheers

Try to see if you got a slow connection, try reconnecting.
Then, clear history and unwanted files.
See if the java and adobe flash player is installed and up to date.
Then, reinstall google chrome.
If you feel like you have a virus or malware, scan you computer with this program, anti-malware. Download it from
Google also used this as a source to get rid of malwares. Go to
to see the first source and it is anti-malware.
PLease reply if you have trouble so I can help!

There are a problem with the jpg colour space interpretation: RGB jpgs created with some programs are not showed on last versions of Chrome. Why? Who knows...
Try using YCbCr photometric options in your photos if you want show them in Chrome, but this is not the right way.
Chromium community/Google must solve this problem because there are a lot of faults on websites now. Developers can change all photos now, but problems could come in future with other web browsers. I think that better solution is to wait an answer from Chromium community/Google team.
From now, use "save for web" export options in Photoshop (it works) or try other software.

I just got Google Chrome a few days ago and it worked perfectly . . .at first. Then today I noticed it was acting slow and when I went on IMDB or Amazon some pictures were replaced with a torn page. So I updated my Java, which I usually just ignore when it pops up, and now not only do the pictures show but Chrome is acting quickly again!
|Re: Images not showing up on some websites||Sloppycowtits||6/4/12 2:16 AM|
Could be a Cache error on your local machine.
1> Go to top right of Chrome, click on Spanner.
Hope that helps!
|Re: Images not showing up on some websites||PhilJr||6/21/12 11:19 PM|
I am using firefox. I have started a group by which I post pictures for members of the group to see. I have marked the group adult and members of the page know what they are getting into. I have uploaded pics, the show fine on my end, but not for those receiving them by email. Also, a couple of them will show up fine when I post them, but later they will show in the emails and in my original post as a black box with a big circle and a - in the middle.
Does anyone know what this might be happening, and/or how I might correct it? Is there something my group members might need to do to be able to see the pictures?

I get an icon with a red square, a blue triangle and a green circle instead of seeing many images. How do I get rid of this problem and see my images again??

jeditemplearchives.com, yakface.com, rebelscum.com, facebook.com. When I click on any of these links, the page with either not fully load, or load but the pictures won't. Sometimes I have to hit refresh three times before the page looks the way it should. I have Windows 8 and and i7 processor. And plenty of RAM. Any help would be appreciated. I love Chrome, but I can't work like this.

|Re: Images not showing up on some websites||VagabondSteve||8/15/13 6:56 PM|
Thank you! I was reading all these posts and nothing seemed to apply. I could not see catalog pictures on my own website in Chrome but there were fine in IE.
Ad Block Plus thinks my linked images and hyperlinks constitute an "ad". They must have pretty mundane logic. However, I was able to disable for the one site, and I added a note on the page for visitors in case they experience the same issue!
Thanks again for doing the work!

You might want to check which specific filters are matching your content, and workaround them.
|Re: Images not showing up on some websites||Kelvin Andrews||9/29/13 5:51 AM|
This can be caused by a compatibility problem between Internet Explorer and the site you're on. Do you see the Compatibility View button in the Address bar (it's an icon that looks like a sheet of paper torn in half). If you see it click on it to turn it on.
