Same problem with various websites intermittently.  No websites in particular, and this happens on both my laptop and desktop. It's really annoying. Haven't tested on other browsers as I mainly use Chrome.

Re: Error 324 (net::ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE): The server closed the connection without sending any data. Josue9 5/31/11 11:01 AM
I had the same problem this morning. At first everything was working fine until McAfee (antivirus) displayed a message that "dwm.exe" was trying to connect or something (i didn't really read it, i just saw the application trying to connect), so i block it. After that, the internet stopped working. I went back to McAfee's firewall and allowed access to the application and everything works now.

Just turn your antivirus' firewall off for a minute and try connecting to the internet.
Hopefully your problem is as simple as mine.

Good luck.

i went to AGV live forum and found many experiencing the same issue

one offered a short term solution  disable the link scanner  seems it was having issues with the ads on the sides of pages such as facebook

since i disabled mine its is as fast as every loading pages with no  errors Error 324 (net::ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE): The server closed the connection without sending any data.''

hopefully AGV  will release a fix soon so i wont have to disable a component of my anti virus protection
Re: Error 324 (net::ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE): The server closed the connection without sending any data. loveontology 6/10/11 10:05 PM
Another fix is related to whether or not your computer has Internet Download Manager (IDM) installed.  If you get "Unable to load the webpage because the server sent no data."  Try double clicking the icon for IDM on the tray, and under the Downloads-options-general uncheck the "use advanced browser integration"  not sure what it turns off, but it fixed the problem for me.

This has been happening to me as well for over a month and is very annoying. It happens mostly when I go to webpages that are part of a forum e.g. www.healthboards.com  I assumed this was something that would get fixed fairly quickly and it's annoying that it's been going on for so long.

Re: Error 324 (net::ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE): The server closed the connection without sending any data. 0023 7/6/11 3:55 PM
Please fix this stupid problem google! It doesnt happen with any of the other browsers that you think you are so much better than. This is happening for months on many different versions of chrome. I cannot use chrome any longer on forums because im sick od having to refresh the page and enter all my txt again.

I have done all I can from clearing cache, cookies to un-installing and re-installing .. Couldnt be bothered keeping your browser any longer because there isnt even an answer from you regarding this error.

Back to firefox for good this time...Far more stable.

Re: Error 324 (net::ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE): The server closed the connection without sending any data. schnautza 7/13/11 2:41 PM
I just had the same problem from my work computer (Windows 7). I have the syncing set up beween my home laptop and this computer. Today at work, I started having problems that I could not connect to any google related page (maps, search, support)...sort of ironic that Google pages were the only ones not working in Chrome. But I finally figured out how to fix it after doing a couple things. I think the last thing I did that actually fixed it was clearing out my browsing history (all except for saved passwords). Boom. It works now.
Good luck...
Re: Error 324 (net::ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE): The server closed the connection without sending any data. fheathermoore 7/14/11 4:53 AM
Every single day, countless times per day with numerous sites, I have this problem. Without fail.  I only really twigged that it was actually a Google problem when I started using Chrome Deck  as I kept having problems send messages. It lead me to think about Chrome and how I have very similar problems. At first I thought it was a problem at my end, because I was using Opera before and sometimes pages too ages to load. I just assumed that since I was experiencing difficulties on both browsers that it must be a user-end issue.

However, I started using Firefox again and I never have this problem. Ever. So I have been keeping tabs on Chrome and it is by far the worst offender. It is brilliantly fast at opening but what good is that if you can't then open any pages? Not much at all. I was really trying to sell Chrome to others because of its speed, but I have told them not to bother  with it. My hubby and daughter have also reverted to Opera and Firefox. So, Google, you've lost 3 customers in one household. My dad has also decided not to go with you. Word of mouth is a very powerful thing Google. Instead of expanding your empire, make sure you've got a sleek and well finished product in the first place...

Hi everyone,

If you are receiving this error, can you try the following and see if it helps:
1. Are you able to visit the same website using another browser? (IE, Firefox, Safari, etc.)

2a. If yes, are you able to visit the same website while in incognito mode (Ctrl+Shift+N)
2a.1. If yes, try clearing your cache and cookies. Ref[1], and disabling your extensions.  Ref[2].
2a.2. If no, are any of your extensions set to be active in incognito mode.  What are they?

2b. If not, the error lies in the network/computer.  Try the following:
2b.1. Check your antivirus and firewall settings.  Make sure Google Chrome is allowed in these programs.
2b.2. Check for malware.  Ref[3]
2b.3. Reset the modem and router

Also let me know if you have installed/updated any programs/software around the time when this problem started.

Best,
Sie Deen
Re: Error 324 (net::ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE): The server closed the connection without sending any data. 0023 7/14/11 3:51 PM
If you are receiving this error, can you try the following and see if it helps:
1. Are you able to visit the same website using another browser? (IE, Firefox, Safari, etc.)

A: Yes, I have tried FF, Opera, and much to my horror Internet explorer, all browsers have no problem displaying the page. I have even tried to induce the error by clicking several different links/threads and still the problem does not occur.

2a. If yes, are you able to visit the same website while in incognito mode (Ctrl+Shift+N)

A: Yes

2a.1. If yes, try clearing your cache and cookies. Ref[1], and disabling your extensions.  Ref[2].

A: Have cleared my cache and cookies many many times with the same result, No data received. I had all my current extensions installed when chrome wasn't displaying this error, and have not changed them since. I will however try one by one to disable them and see if the error persists. I also have the same add on's installed in FF and opera , WOT and LastPass and google email checker yet those browsers work with those add ons but chrome doesn't?

2a.2. If no, are any of your extensions set to be active in incognito mode.  What are they?

A: No extensions running while using incognito

2b. If not, the error lies in the network/computer.  Try the following:
2b.1. Check your antivirus and firewall settings.  Make sure Google Chrome is allowed in these programs.
2b.2. Check for malware.  Ref[3]
2b.3. Reset the modem and router

A: Using KIS 2012 chrome is allowed through.
Recently done malware checks and posted logs on Majorgeeks forums to be inspected by malware experts...All logs came back clean.
Using a 3g mobile broadband/midband dongle and have uninstalled and then installed it again many times, problem still persists with chrome only

Also let me know if you have installed/updated any programs/software around the time when this problem started.

A: Too hard to tell...Chrome used to work without this error then a few months ago a new version of chrome was introduced and the error just started happening again and again. To be honest I do not download many programmes as I only use my desktop for browsing so I am reluctant to believe this is an error on my end.

Please help us find a solution to this problem because even though I love chrome and have it as my default browser this problem is making life very difficult especially on Vbulletin forums.

Thank you

I have given up.  I have tried everything appropriate in the replies above and it still continues to happen on my toshiba laptop runnnign wondows 7.  The worst thing is that it is intermittent and there seems to be no way to predict when it will happen.  I have another Toshiba laptop runnning Vista which occasionally gets the problem, a desktop running xp which has never had the problem and a sony vaio laptop running vista with no problem - yet.
Come on Google. Sort this out and sort out contact synchronisation with my mobile while you're at it.

Hi everyone,
If you are facing similar problems accessing websites using other browsers (IE, Firefox, Safari, etc.) please try the following:
1. Check your antivirus and firewall settings.
2. Check for malware.
3. Reset the modem and router.

If you are only getting this error in Chrome, please refer to Ref[1] below.  We are currently investigating the issue in Chromium's public issue tracker.

Re: Error 324 (net::ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE): The server closed the connection without sending any data. jkramer is baffled 7/16/11 6:48 AM
Sie_Deen, I think most of us have made it VERY clear this is *only* happening in Chrome.

I went through some pretty thorough testing making sure it wasn't other browsers on similar sites or my extensions. Have had the issue off and on for a month or two and it gets most irritating for me when I am researching other issues and spending unusual amounts of time on various forums.
Re: Error 324 (net::ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE): The server closed the connection without sending any data. jkramer is baffled 7/18/11 6:53 AM
Let me add one more comment since it seems to be the case for my issue... it only seems to happen when I am on some forum. It is worst at http://shark007.net/forum/index.php for me, but it also happens at other forums, and for me, it doesn't seem to happen on other types of sites.

Hi Everyone,

I'm sorry to hear that so many of you continue to experience this issue. @Sie_Deen and I did a bit more research into this and have found this to be a known issue. You can follow the progress of this issue in our public issue tracker here: http://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=84313 .

In addition, as we work to fix this, are there specific sites that you have been experiencing this issue on?

Thanks for your patience while we work to fix this!

I seem to be having a similar problem, but don't know if it is the same. When trying to connect to our Google home page, Mozilla Foxfire does not find a server connection. Any suggestions?
Re: Error 324 (net::ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE): The server closed the connection without sending any data. JackyH 7/22/11 11:30 AM
Hi @melanie.silva, are you using Firefox browser? If so, this is the Chrome browser forum, so I would suggest looking at the Firefox forum. Have you tried viewing the Google home page in Chrome?

Also, of note today, there is a pretty nifty Google doodle on the Google homepage: it's an html 5 rendering of an Alexander Calder sculpture that moves when you move it with your mouse and tilt your monitor from side to side.

Cheers!

Re: Error 324 (net::ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE): The server closed the connection without sending any data. Taz6122 7/23/11 7:50 AM
Why don't you just fix this issue instead of being asinine and throwing around unrelated statements? You shouldn't have to uninstall anything if the program worked before and you haven't been infected by a virus. GC is fast and I've been a faithful user for the last year but I'm going back to FF because Google has their head the same place BO and other idiots have theirs. Greed does funny things to people. Better repent while you still can!

Re: Error 324 (net::ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE): The server closed the connection without sending any data. BrookePM 7/24/11 11:30 AM
I've been having this problem with JSTOR. It started when I was doing some research for school and had like 40 tabs open to different articles. I bookmarked them all, and now I can generally access one at a time after I close my browser. However, I can't go on to the next page in an article without getting the error. Additionally, if I try to download the PDF, a small pop-up comes up that should contain information, but it doesn't load fully. If it matters at all, I'm accessing these pages from an off-campus computer, so they're going through a proxy. If I copy and paste the links into a different browser (I've tried Safari, IE, and Firefox), they still return the same error message.

I'm going to try running some programs to see if I have any malware that might be causing the issue.

Hi Everyone,

Thanks so much for your patience. Looking through the public issue tracker for this issue, a fix for this issue is being pushed out in an upcoming release of Chrome and should be coming soon to the stable channel, which is the Chrome channel most of you are on. Currently, the fix is in Chrome 14, which is on the development channel; stable is on Chrome 12. If you feel you can't wait for the fix to come to the stable channel, then you can see if this update works for you, but the development channel is intended for the use of web developers and is much less stable and privy to change than the stable channel.

Please keep me posted if you continue to have this problem with Chrome 14; thanks again for you patience!

Cheers,
Jacky

I have been getting this error for 2-3 months now. It is frustrating beyond belief. I regularly clear cache and cookies, i regularly run scans, I've even uninstalled and reinstalled Chrome. You need to get this fixed asap. This used to be such a great browser but it's been broken for months

Error 324 (net::ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE):

Its bloody annoying, i get it on my work computer and on my home computer and pretty much every computer i use chrome on.

FIX IT GOOGLE! Seriously.
Re: Error 324 (net::ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE): The server closed the connection without sending any data. 0023 7/26/11 7:54 AM
@ gmiwoj they said a fix is at least 2 stable versions away (chrome 14.0) I make that about 2 months away from now. They said switch to build 14.0 now which may be unstable, I say move browser's and forget about this problem for now and move back in a couple of months when chrome 14.0 becomes stable. Ive changed to firefox just because of this issue and constant refreshes when viewing forum's, so far no such problems with FF.

Been having this problem for months and couldnt be bothered waiting another 2 months for a fix so I moved.

mexidus we are due chrome 13.0 stable any day this week...Google release new stable versions roughly every 6 weeks and actually version 13 is a little late. Then we will be waiting another 6 weeks for 14.0 stable so this week + 6 weeks = 7 weeks (roughly 2 months from now) To keep up to date with google releases go here >>> http://googlechromereleases.blogspot.com/

I can confirm this. After  thoroughly reading everything from the link above, I installed Chrome 13 Beta, and after surfing several hours on sites that were giving me 324 hell before, I can say that annoying bug is gone.

So, either go and install Beta 13, or be patient for some time more...

Hi +Balduran,

What version of Chrome are you on? Also, can you follow these troubleshooting steps?

1. Try visiting the wiki style pages where you are having these issues in incognito. What happens?
2. Have you checked your firewall and antivirus settings? Is Google Chrome allowed?
3. Have you check for malware? Refer to the link below for help.

Thanks!

Getting the same error when I go to yahoo.com and have been for weeks.  Love Googe Chrome until now, please fix this problem.  I'm going to de-install until it is because it's really just too frustrating.

Hi Everyone,

It seems like some have you are still having this issue; what version of Chrome are you using? Are you on the most recent stable version? To find out go to the Wrench Menu>About Google Chrome. A fix for this issue was released to the stable channel last week (you can see the public issue tracker for this here: http://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=84313).

+erush03 Is this only happening when you're on Yahoo.com?
+0023 is this happening on specific sites for you as well?
+Filbertus are you on the stable channel? or Beta?

Thanks!
Jacky

Issue still ongoing using chrome 13.0.782.112m although not as frequent as before on V12.0

Also happening on chrome canary build 15.0.849.0

Maybe you should take another look at this issue google?

Hi Everyone,

Since it seems a lot of you are still experiencing this issue, I've opened up a new issue in our public issue tracker here: http://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=92977

I'll keep you posted as we try to troubleshoot this. Also, are there any users here not using Windows? New reports seems to be specific to Windows.

Thanks for your help as we work to resolve this!

I am getting "no data received" now as well,  should that be opened as a different Issue?

Thanks!

Re: Error 324 (net::ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE): The server closed the connection without sending any data. 0023 8/15/11 5:59 PM
@ Jacky Yes... Like I mentioned before though it is not happening nearly as often as before and also one single refresh will fix the problem. Before on version 12 it could take 5-7 refreshes to fix and al the error would happen every few minutes.

1. Leave chrome://net-internals/help.html open while your browse

Result: "Failed to read resourcehelp.html"

No doubt Google co. is doing something clever that doesn't work in the wild.

I'm sure the programmer says:  "But it works on my machine!?"

Version 12.0.742.100

I've downloaded several versions over the last year and none of them have had any different result.

Chrome 13.0.782.215 m     Windows7 SP1

Got Error 324 or either Error 101 (net::ERR_CONNECTION_RESET) when trying to go to https://bv.ac-caen.fr/iprof/ServletIprof
https://bv.ac-lyon.fr/iprof/ServletIprof works (same webapp on other website with other certificate)
Doesn't work with enterprise proxy or without.

Having a look at chrome://net-internals/#events, I see that event URL_REQUEST https://bv.ac-caen.fr/iprof/ServletIprof sends

We have this issue on all our websites with certificate (like https://webmail.ac-caen.fr).
Certificates are on a foundry serveriron which adds client-ip to header request (on a logging purpose), except for one url  (https://publinet.ac-caen.fr/) which works with chrome.

Hope this will help.

I get this error when trying to authenticate to an internal BSO firewall. It doesn't work in incognito mode either. But it works fine in Firefox and IE9. After authenticating to the firewall through IE9 everything is fine, I can even get to the BSO logout form successfully with Chrome. Using Chrome extensions like RestConsole make no difference.

In answer to http://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=92977#c7, our firmware version seems a bit light :

SSH@ServerIron-1>sh ver
SW: Version 10.2.01gTI4 Copyright (c) 1996-2007 Foundry Networks, Inc.

Less than minimal version mentioned on http://www.imperialviolet.org/2011/08/31/falsestartupgrade.html to be compatible with "False Start".

And thanks +herve donati for sending along your net internals!

@JackyH - the only site this happens to me on consistently is every variation of http://espn.go.com.  It could be because if I type in, say, "http://www.espn.com" it redirects to the espn.go.com addy.

Hello, having a 324 problem, usually with the BBC website (reading the news), Have a NetInternals dump of the error itself, It happens on any BBC news page, randomly (e.g. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-middle-east-14922659). The bug (92977) was closed yesterday, so where do I post the dump? :) - Chris

I get this error every time I try to access my mail.google.com account when I am on a slow wireless connection. It works fine on a good connection. If I switch to another browser e.g. I.E. or Firefox then I can get to the google accounts albeit a bit slow.  I do sometimes get the same error on other pages but it primarily google email / accounts.  I am using 14.0.835.163. I saw a report that this was likely to be fixed in version 14 - sorry not the case.

JackyH,

I posted net-internals as #3 in that bug, and it was never directly addressed.  If it's just the false-start issue as willchan seems to think, how come the other browsers don't seem to have a problem with the exact same sites?
Re: Error 324 (net::ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE): The server closed the connection without sending any data. Mark Samuels 9/21/11 11:28 AM
I had many of the same problems, ultimately I could not open almost any page at all with any browser although the internet connection was ok and Dropbox was working. No antivirus worked. Finally went back to an earlier system restore point and re-installed Internet Explorer and this seems to have solved the problem, at least for the moment. My IT guy says it is probably not malware, probably a bug. I am presuming it comes from Chrome so for now will not use that browser any more sadly as it had some good aspects.

I have not been able to use Chrome for about 2 weeks now.  FF is also acting up for me but only once every 5 days or so.

I discovered that if I disable Webshields on Avast, Chrome works perfect.  With Webshields enables, I keep getting the same 324 error.

Webshields is very important, so I hope this gets resolved soon, I don't know who is at fault and who should fix what, but hopefully this info helps.  I posted about it in the Avast forum as well

I already have 14.0.835.186 and I still get "No data received" and similar fault messages. I usually have this fault If I search something on Google Search.
Firstly I assume this issue happened by Chinese Great Firewall but actually not only Chinese clients had this problem.
I decided to change my browser as this issue hasn't been fixed for a long time.

+Doc029 I followed up on thread in our public issue tracker and your dump was identified as an SSL issue; you can learn more in comment #25.http://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=92977

+Everyone Please follow the instructions that are best commented so that we can best troubleshoot the 324 errors you are receiving. A lot of different factors cause this error, so this will help us get the bottom of the issue best.

If your issue is unrelated to Error 324, please open a new thread.

It is just reboot your modem - it gets clogged.  You can do this in your settings:
192.168.1.1 (ip dependent on your router), then just reboot within the options.
wait 2 minutes or so.....
Wallah, no more 324 ERROR!!!
Yeah :)

I was having the same error as well, used ccleaner, updated directx, cleaned the cache, unchecked proxy settings and I even tried a few other internet connections for a few minutes courtesy of neighbors without security. Nothing worked. Used my phone's tether feature, everything is fine. My suggestion would be to shut off your modem, reset your router, clean everything out, restart the pc, and try again.

Hope this helps.
Re: Error 324 (net::ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE): The server closed the connection without sending any data. canuck720 10/26/11 8:06 AM
This is a Chrome problem...plain and simple.  It has something to do with SSL.  I have a local machine running Ubuntu 10.04 on which I have a test server running.  I have been testing with this configuration for years (via a fixed IP on the server and entry in the hosts file).  I had XP 32-bit and Chrome 14 and everything worked fine.  Upgraded to Windows 7 (now Chrome 15) and now I have this issue.  Every once in a while it will work.  Works EVERY time with FF and IE.
Everything is fully updated and the issue continues.  Detailed testing reveals it seems to have something to do with an untrusted certificate.  My local server has a self-generated certificate.  As such, it is not from a trusted source.
The same app running on servers on the cloud works fine with all browsers.
This is a critical part of testing I perform on a daily basis...that I cannot perform with Chrome.
It's clear to me that although it's a fast and friendly browser, Chrome is not ready for prime time.
Re: Error 324 (net::ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE): The server closed the connection without sending any data. canuck720 10/26/11 8:08 AM
I almost forgot to mention that the same issue occurs with Chrome running on XP 64-bit and Chrome running in Ubuntu 10.04.  As noted previously.....plainly a Chrome problem and nothing else.

Same with what happened to me.

I had fixed it simply by deleting the browser history. It did help a lot. Hope it could help you too.
Re: Error 324 (net::ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE): The server closed the connection without sending any data. pcambra 11/9/11 9:11 AM
Still getting this error in chrome 16.0.912.32
No specific webpage, seems quite random, but when happens it doesn't happen once, I get it each 4-5 page loads and then it goes away for a while.
This happens in pages I'm developing (so local websites served by my Apache) but with online pages as well.

+pcambra Have you tried the tips other users have suggested? Do you have avast web shield installed? Or have you tried deleting your history?

In addition, have you tried any of the troubleshooting steps in the best answer?

Thanks!

Re: Error 324 (net::ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE): The server closed the connection without sending any data. Cdowling 11/14/11 6:32 AM
Does it really take longer than 7 months to fix an issue like this? Not only have I updated my chrome as of the most recent release (i redownloaded again today just in case), I have tried literally every single possible solution in this whole thread with no luck. I'm getting the error on a ton of websites, including google.com. It works when I go to incognito mode, which is a fine workaround for now, but is there really no solution?
Re: Error 324 (net::ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE): The server closed the connection without sending any data. JackyH 11/16/11 5:43 PM
+Cdowling Many different things can cause Error 324; please help us figure out why you are receiving this issue by following the below steps:

1. Leave chrome://net-internals/help.html open while your browse
2. Reproduce the steps to get to the 324 error
3. In the chrome://net-internals/help.htm tab, click the Dump to File button on the Data tab.
4. Attach this file to the issue tracker here:  http://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=92977
5. Please also include what sites you were visiting when you received your error as well as what Chrome version you are using.

Thanks,
Jacky
Re: Error 324 (net::ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE): The server closed the connection without sending any data. rarias 11/16/11 8:11 PM
I have the latest Chrome version.  Many sites consistently load on FireFox... but don't on Chrome... 7 months is too long.  And for a company that consideres itself so creative and resourceful, is too lame.  Tip: by now, you should have already visited some users personally and ask them to let you check their laptops first hand.  Well executed, it would even make a great PR: "Do you know who was knocking at my door this morning?"   This poor Google Employees sound as under-empowered as your typical call center staff...  Another tip: this is a mayor serious bug.  This is the kind of bug that makes users switch to other browsers and never look back... Call someone with decision power within Google to help you fix it by tomorrow.
Re: Error 324 (net::ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE): The server closed the connection without sending any data. sandy2012 11/18/11 4:17 AM
Hi, This is a problem with only we use Chrome.
Only way to fix this to restart my laptop.

It is quite frustrating that once you get this error, there is no way you connect to Internet. You can't use IE or Firefox afterwards.... It seems Chrome is blocking the laptop to connect to local Internet Router installed in my home.

I can see the Internet Connection is up. Normaly I can connect to my Router using RouterLogin.com to change the settings. Once I get this error, I can't even access my local router which connects to the service provider. So I believe the Chrome shuts down the service which enables the connection to our local Router and so you can't access Internet...
I have got the latest Chrome 15.0

Please fix it otherwise you might lose more loyal customers like me.... you can't expect us to restart our laptop often to access INTERNET ...!!! Won't you be frustated!
Re: Error 324 (net::ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE): The server closed the connection without sending any data. LoopyLlew 11/25/11 3:32 PM
This is driving me crackers now.  It started doing it on mine about 2 weeks ago for no apparent reason.  I can't open a new window without getting this error when I click on a google search link.  It is seriously affecting my work.  I love Chrome but it's now that bad I may have to resort to IE again.  Chrome tells me that I'm up to date with 15.08...forgot the rest.

Please, when will this be fixed.  It's obviously not a user error.
Re: Error 324 (net::ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE): The server closed the connection without sending any data. Mospheric 11/25/11 8:22 PM
Mine also started about two weeks ago.. though it's only affecting my tumblr website. Whenever I try to go to it, I get the error 324 problem. Surprisingly, refreshing the page like a madman eventually lets me access the website. Also if I get the error 324 message, I can open up an incognito page, go to the tumblr website and the webpage opens. When I go back to the standard (non incognito) page, it also opens now too. Frustrating, but that's my work-around for the moment.

My error is: Error 324 (net::ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE): The server closed the connection without sending any data.

I saw mention in earlier posts about Windows upgrades occurring just before this problem. I had 2 updates for Windows Vista in the last few days, that required a restart. Now Chrome is the only browser with an issue.

Dear staff of google,

My situation is a bit different I think. I used Firefox and IE but cannot get to the website to load a login bar. I used to login the same page about 2-3 week ago. But now the login bar is no longer appearing.  I tried using chrome as my friend said that his issue is resolved. So I downloaded Chrome today and it pops this error. "Error 324 (net::ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE): The server closed the connection without sending any data."

I am wondering if you can assist me in this area.

With regards,
Freedom

Using Win 7 64 bit.
Recently a new Q: [drive] appeared on my computer without me installing/separating the drive.
There is a auto shutdown without my notice.

Hi everyone,

As many different factors cause Error 324, there is no one answer for everyone. In order to help troubleshoot why you are getting this error, we need to troubleshoot with you one-by-one, so please follow the following troubleshooting steps in order for us to help you.

1. Leave chrome://net-internals/help.html open while your browse
2. Reproduce the steps to get to the 324 error
3. In the chrome://net-internals/help.htm tab, click the Dump to File button on the Data tab.
4. Once you have gotten this dump, please respond on this thread and I will start a thread for you in our public issue tracker where you can attach this file.
5. Please also include what sites you were visiting when you received your error as well as what Chrome version you are using.

In addition +Freedom007, if you are experiencing this same issue on other browsers, this may not be an issue specific to Chrome; please follow the above steps and we will work to figure out why you are getting this error.

Thanks,
Jacky
Re: Error 324 (net::ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE): The server closed the connection without sending any data. williams7187 12/14/11 7:12 AM
Obviously there is no one solution that fixes everyone's problems.  However, I want to share my solution in hopes that it will help others.  Before I share this information, please keep in mind that I use chrome both at home (on a Windows 7 x86 machine) and at work (on a Windows Server 2008 x86 machine).  This problem only occurs on my work computer which has an OS that is not listed as supported in the chrome doc.  Nonetheless, the simple command line change is to add -use-system-ssl to the execution of chrome.exe.  If that didn't make much sense try the following:

1.  Right click on the shortcut that you use to open chrome
2.  Under the Shortcut tab you will see a text box for "Target" (should contain something like C:\Users\....\chrome.exe)
3.  Immediately after "chrome.exe" add a space followed by -use-system-ssl
4.  Click Apply and Ok
4.  Close all chrome windows and reopen using the shortcut that you just altered

I hope that someone can find this information useful.  As a web app dev, chrome is a must have and I'm excited that I have finally found a solution to this problem.

Here's the deal Chromefolks.  This NEVER happens on any other browser, and it's been happening more and more often with a wide range of sites..  There's something fundamentally wrong if this has been going on for at least 2 years, and you keep asking people to send you logs of what they're doing.  You can't figure it out?

Error 324 (net::ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE): The server closed the connection without sending any data.
Extensions installed: none
Please describe your question/comment in detail (for example, steps to reproduce the problem):
This is SOOOO Frustrating.  My case is just with 1 website.  I can't login it.
I tried EVERYTHING trust ME, spent 2 days reading your forums, help guides, other examples, but everyone looks like they have the same error but from different causes.
Mine, looks like it is because the SSL.  I am the owner of that website with the problem, so I tried setting it without SSL, and then it works.
With SSL, doesn't work JUST on google chrome.  IT WAS WORKING BEFORE, but suddenly one day, stop working and now I get this annoying error 324.  And BTW, IE8, Safari, Firefox, ALL of THEM Works perfectly.  I loved Google Chrome, I use it on my job and home, its feature of Synchronizing password and everything with my gmail account is great.  But now, due to this error, I need to re-consider to use it anymore.
The weird Thing is that this error occurs ONLY with my home Google chrome installation in my PC. My work has also Google chrome, and works perfectly, reading the SSL correctly.  If I change my home internet connection to another source (I set my android phone to tethering to give internet to my home pc), and boom, it worked.
So, then returned to the home network, and I factory reset my router, updated the firmware, etc. Clean registry windows, uninstall antivirus software, firewall, winsock resets, EVERYTHING  from the FORUMS, TRUST ME, and again, Error 324 when using Google chrome on my home PC.

It is just with that website!!!!, it is so annoying.

I read the issue:

http://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=92977
but at the final says it is CLOSED ?  No Fix and Closed?

So, No solution yet.

PLEASE HEEEEEEEEELLLLPP!!!

I had problems with this for some time and I tried everything every thread said and nothing worked. But now I think I've found the solution!

Go to google and search for a program called UltraSurf 9.5. (That's the version I use). Download and Run, after some time it will say that you have successfully connected. Now open the internet browser and try again! :D

Hi + eugenejen,

I will have to open a new thread for you; as there are multiple reasons users receive error 324, we are going to handle each separately. To help us troubleshoot, can you send me the following:

1. What version of Chrome are you on?
2. What OS are you using?
3. Can you tell me a bit more about the steps that lead up to your receiving error 324? Do they match those in the issue listed above?
4. In addition, can you send me a link to a screenshot?

Thanks!

JackyH,

I encounter the 324 error while trying to log in https://www.empik.com and surf over that site. Also other sites with ssl don't work, like onet.pl. I tried williams7187's solution (adding -use-system-ssl), but it didn't work for me. Can I upload my dump somewhere (where?) for you to take a look at it?

Re: Error 324 (net::ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE): The server closed the connection without sending any data. nblasgen 1/3/12 3:54 AM
Nope, I'm getting the same error but for a very specific website and only since Chrome 16 (as far as I can tell).  I can reproduce it from outside of the country, inside the US, from Mac OS Lion and from Windows 7.

https://rs.refractivedialer.com

Seems to be some issue related to the specific loadbalancer configuration since that's my server and I have many other data center load balancers configured the same way.  I have a network log but no idea where you want me to send it.

For me the thing is as easy as visiting https://rs.refractivedialer.com in Firefox, Safari, IE and then compare it to Google Chrome 16.
Re: Error 324 (net::ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE): The server closed the connection without sending any data. nblasgen 1/3/12 4:08 AM
It does seem that "use-system-ssl" fixes the issue.  What is it that use-system-ssl does?
Re: Error 324 (net::ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE): The server closed the connection without sending any data. nblasgen 1/3/12 4:21 AM
I guess there's more to report every second that goes by.  "disable-ssl-false-start" fixes the problem as well.

http://www.imperialviolet.org/2010/09/05/blacklisting.html
https://tools.ietf.org/html/draft-bmoeller-tls-falsestart-00

And that fixes things for me.  I guess maybe my HTTPS system isn't dealing with TLS correctly.

Re: Error 324 (net::ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE): The server closed the connection without sending any data. Toni (Googler) 1/24/12 11:43 PM
@leitjohn - Since you can reliably reproduce, can you experiment running Chrome with the command line --disable-false-start? That would tell us if the issue is related to a backend feature called "false start." Here's how to utilize a command line (thanks william7187 for providing similar instructions!):

1. Right click on the shortcut or icon used to open Google Chrome
2. Select "Properties"
3. Click on the Shortcut tab
4. On the "Target" field, you should see something like C:\Users\....\chrome.exe
5. Immediately after "chrome.exe," add a space followed by --disable-false-start
6. Click Apply and Ok
7. Fully exit out of Chrome by going to Wrench -> Exit
8. Re-open using the shortcut icon that you just altered

Re: Error 324 (net::ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE): The server closed the connection without sending any data. coconutcracker 1/25/12 2:10 AM
This used to happen to me as well but at the time I had the Facebook and YouTube apps installed and a page showed up randomly and frequently saying the app is unreachable for both sites mentioned. It stopped for sometime...

Now, in the current version it happens only for YouTube especially when the app is installed (app unreachable) and when I'm signed in!
This does not happen in any other browser and I find my self jumping from FF to chrome so I can occasionally watch videos.

Its very annoying, I uninstalled the app in-order to make it work and it seemed to, but then instead of "App unreachable" it doesn't load the page and shows up as the error you guys talk about. It happens a lot and even when the page loads for a video if the issue appears while loading the player the video won't stream than I refresh the it and the error message shows up again and I can't use YouTube for along period of time until I randomly try and it might work for a short time and than again.

This is driving me crazy and I'm sure I speak for every user here, they are driven crazy by these type of issues and the only reason we bother to comment here is because we adore Google and/or Chrome, otherwise we'd happily use FF.
Re: Error 324 (net::ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE): The server closed the connection without sending any data. atwitsend109 1/27/12 7:38 AM
This happened to me as well. I verified via other machines that it was not the wireless or the router.  It was my PC.  I rebooted many times without success.  I tried with firewall enabled and disabled without success.

From the command line, could ping and tracert any web site.  If I did telnet www.google.com 80, it connected, but immeidiately went back to the command prompt causing an empty response.  I checked by netowrk settings.  Everything looked good, but it inidcated that my TCP IP driver was not installed.  How this happened I do not know, but this could be the cause.
Re: Error 324 (net::ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE): The server closed the connection without sending any data. Cis-websolutions 1/27/12 10:34 AM
Hi,

I had the same error in Chrome but not in FF or IE. It occurred in a webpage of an application I'm developing for a customer, a planning tools for a supermarket. The error occurs only on just one department out of six and the only difference is the amount of data sent to the webserver.

So, when clearing cache etc didn't solve the problem I took al look at the webserver's error log, and it says:
PHP Warning:  Unknown: Input variables exceeded 1000. To increase the limit change max_input_vars in php.ini. in Unknown on line 0, referer: http://url

I don't know why FF and IE don't cause this error (does Chrome add some variables???) but when I increased the max_input_vars to 2000 the problem disappeared. So it is not always Chrome's fault, it might really be an issue on the webserver, so if possible, have this also checked! It might give you a clou...

Good luck,
Regards,
Roland Leurs

I have been having the issue intermittently from about August 2011, and now it happens on certain secure sites 100% of the time when trying to log in. This NEVER happens in Safari and Firefox (using a Mac). I have also done all the other myriad of things like clearing browser cache, using without any extensions running - also tried and get the same issue in Canary and so on.

As requested i followed the steps to get the dump file from: chrome://net-internals/help.htm

The link to that file is here: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/6691672/0809b28c-5c99-4f7c-9252-a465156249d0

Please help fix this - I honestly cannot use Chrome at the moment because of this, Safari is getting more and more comfortable.

Re: Error 324 (net::ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE): The server closed the connection without sending any data. moeller0226 2/15/12 6:13 AM
JackyH - I just started getting this error yesterday. I'm working from a company computer inside the company network. Our internal sites seem to work just fine, but external sites, i.e. Google.com, don't load and Chrome presents me with the 324 error. I can load all pages using IE without an issue.

I dumped the file through chrome://net-internals/ and need to know where to upload it. Just so we're clear, this happens every time I try to load an external page. It doesn't happen intermittently.

Chrome version as of this morning (I reinstalled after the error started presenting itself): 17.0.963.46

Thanks for your help.
Re: Error 324 (net::ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE): The server closed the connection without sending any data. Brade 2/17/12 1:58 PM
I've noticed this issue particularly on a SSL-enabled site I helped develop.
It is served by Cherokee, not Apache, so not sure if that would affect things somehow.
But it's really just a standard drupal/ubercart site: oilchangestickers.com
It happens every time you actually attempt to place an order, so somewhere during the connection with authorize.net I assume something is going wrong.
I've put the internals dump here:

Re: Error 324 (net::ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE): The server closed the connection without sending any data. joshstout 2/21/12 4:21 PM
Just FYI, the issue seems to stem around the fact that chrome doesn't handle changing the order of the encryption algorithms very well.

For example, I had this issue on a CISCO ASA. Turns out someone changed the algorithms to where AES256 and AES128 were above RC4 and 3DES. So ensure that RC4 or 3DES encryption options are above the AES options on the server side and it should resolve this issue.
Re: Error 324 (net::ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE): The server closed the connection without sending any data. Brade 2/22/12 6:00 AM
joshstout, thanks for the helpful reply!
I have posted on the Cherokee mailing list to ask if this order can somehow be set for it.
Fingers crossed...

@ibbenjohnston - Apologies for the delayed response and thanks for the link to your net-internals dump. So that we know if this is still applicable, can you verify if you're still having this problem with Chrome 17? Go to Wrench -> About Google Chrome to check you're on the latest version.

@clacla - I couldn't access your dropbox link. Is it still public?

@Brade, @sumitaneja.leo, @moeller0226 - Thanks for all the info. Someone from our team will be contacting you offline shortly with the corresponding bug that we'll file for your issue.

Started getting error 324 frequently after possible update on GC. It is specific to some websites and the Internet Service Provider/Office NW combination. Does it have anything to do with "prediction of network response"? IE can open every damn page that chrome gives this error for. As it looks this issue is open for some time now; and no immediate solution in sight will just move to FF.  BBye GC.

Have creadted the chrome://net-internals dump. Contact if necessary.

Posting from IE as GC gave Error 324 for google login.

Re: Error 324 (net::ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE): The server closed the connection without sending any data. Dino Maiolo 2/28/12 6:49 AM
@Darshana, it may be that the support person at Go Daddy didn't want to deal with it. GD is not the best hosting service. I would try again and hopefully you will get another person. I had the same issue and Hostgator got right on top of it and cleaned it up for me pretty quickly. World class customer service!
Re: Error 324 (net::ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE): The server closed the connection without sending any data. Toni (Googler) 2/28/12 5:16 PM
@RArblaster - If the issue is also happening on IE, it's likely not Chrome-specific. Have you already contacted WordPress?

@Darshana -  I assume you have the same problem with those websites on IE as well?
Re: Error 324 (net::ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE): The server closed the connection without sending any data. 0023 2/29/12 5:05 AM
@ Toni ... In my experience this error has only ever happened while using chrome.. I'm not trying to say that the others are not having the same problem with IE it's just I have never encountered the same problem/similar problem using IE, FF opera etc.

This problem has been happening for many months now and through many many chrome stable versions. I posted chrome internal dumps before but each time it was stated the problem would be fixed in the next version but it still continues.

This problem is 100% random...I can visit a site 10 times today and it will work but on the 11th time I will get the error message on chrome and it times out. This happens on a very wide spectrum of sites.

In my opinion this problem should be a top priority with the chrome team for the simple reason it's been around far too long to ignore.

Re: Error 324 (net::ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE): The server closed the connection without sending any data. Hrushikesh Garud 2/29/12 9:19 AM
@0023 In my case the problem is not random. I know the websites which have the issue and it is persistent. I use office laptop even at home.  GC throws Error 324 for Wikipedia webpages with my home broadband, whereas there are other websites like ieeexplore.org which have this problem on office VPN. IE successfully opens all the webpages on both networks. I have been using GC since the day of its launch. Its really very very annoying to get this error and even more annoying to use IE or FF.

ACTUALLY THE PROBLEM IS NOT IN BROWSERS, OR FIREWALL OR PROXY SETTING OR REGISTRY OR ANTIVIRUS.....
THE CULPRIT IS      " WINDOWS DEFENDER " (win 7)
go to contrl panel
open win defender
click option
DESELECT ALL TICK MARKS IN EVERY OPTION MENUS
click save
when asked whether defender TURNS OFF
click YES
restart comp
DONE !!
now try to open those web sites which showed error 324

if it works plz reply to me....
Re: Error 324 (net::ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE): The server closed the connection without sending any data. RArblaster 2/29/12 12:46 PM
drmahfuz45,

If you're already running 3rd party firewall, anti-virus etc.. then Windows Defender will be turned off anyway. So no this solution won't work.
Re: Error 324 (net::ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE): The server closed the connection without sending any data. mrlotney 3/6/12 2:31 AM
We get the "Error 324" only on Chrome on OSx, Linux and Windows 7. On Firefox, Safari or IE the app opens without any problems. In our case the problem is consistent and we can

https://apps.facebook.com/jobylon/

The issue only happens if you're logged into Facebook, and have secure browsing enabled (Account Settings -> Security -> Secure Browsing).

The target URL is "https://fb.jobylon.com/?secret=no-fbapp-redirect" (don't mind the messed up layout when opened through this link)

It works well if opened directly but not if opened throug facebook like on the first link.

Re: Error 324 (net::ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE): The server closed the connection without sending any data. sjesman 3/13/12 10:28 AM
I have the same. But ...
In my case chromium is not to blame. Firefox also complains with other message.
What is happening in my case : apache server crashes:
[notice] child pid 5133 exit signal Segmentation fault (11)
On the server site I have php code like:

mail("so...@somewhera.com", "subject", "message");

It has to be related to my system configuration. My server and client are running on the same Linux box. Apache server runs a coupe of virtual hosts bound to my ip number (local network). This virtual host has a name like "localcase". And I run the browser like: http://localcase/some.php
All other php and html code run OK.
The same some.php script runs OK on normal public server like: www.some.com
Silly thing is, that in the local case , apache tries to send (redirect) the page to http://www.localcase.com, which obviously doesn't exist.

So, I think that the combination: poor php { progammer / network configuration / apache code } is to blame, not a browser.

I've seen a lot of prior activity regarding this error.  It occurs on one of my PCs:

Chrome: 17.0.963.83

My other PC (XP SP 3, Chrome 17.0.963.83) runs fine.
All other internet-related apps run fine (Firefox, dropbox, logmein, AV, etc.)
Internet connection speedtest looks fine: Down:8M+ Up:3M+
Proxy Server is NOT being used.

Not sure how to trouble-shoot?

Any help would be appreciated, Thanks...

I've been having this trouble too, and found nothing of help on the Internets. I asked my flatmate, and he said to change the DNS, which worked perfectly.

Now, I'm not a computer guy - I don't even know what a DNS is. So if this answer doesn't make any sense, it might end up being up to someone else to make sense of the answer, but here's what I was told to do...

Open network preferences > Advanced > DNS. > Change the number under "DNS" to 8.8.8.8. > Click "apply". > Done.

P.s. I'm on a Mac.

I hope this helps.

Kind of crazy that this thread is going on a year now and this hasn't been fixed.  I have this problem using chrome (on a up-to-date Mac) accessing websites on my VPS.  It is most certainly related to SSL...the sites work fine until they go secure.  My certs are all from GoDaddy.  The same sites work perfectly in every other browser.
Re: Error 324 (net::ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE): The server closed the connection without sending any data. chromeuser5000 4/24/12 3:51 PM
yes it is definitely related to SSL -- this page https://goodsam.org/giving/form.php used to appear for me in chrome and now it doesn't (appears fine in other browsers).  without the "s" in https you get all of the itmes on the page that are not called securely.  Please fix!
Re: Error 324 (net::ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE): The server closed the connection without sending any data. Luschious 4/25/12 2:50 AM

Re: Error 324 (net::ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE): The server closed the connection without sending any data. sjesman 4/25/12 6:13 AM

crash  (Apache2 in my case) on that request.
The question remains; what action of Chromium coses this crash and why ?

I am having this problem only with Facebook, and only while on one specific wifi network. It doesn't seem to matter what browser but this seems to be the place with the best support from all the places I've looked.

I'm using an up to date version of Chrome 19, on a 2008 macbook 2.4ghz running OSX 10.5

This problem has been going on for several weeks.

When I'm on my home wifi network, Facebook works just fine. As soon as I get to work, it's spotty at best. Sometimes it will load the newsfeed and let me click through a few pages before it stops loading and gives me Error 324, and sometimes it just gives me the error right away.

I know for a fact that it's not Firewall settings on the wifi network at work. There are only 3 people who work in our office, I'm the person who set up our wireless network (I only have basic knowledge, enough to fiddle around with router settings but nothing too deep). I use Facebook a great deal for promoting our organization so there is no reason or way that it should be blocked. Also, Facebook works with no issues on the same wifi network on all of my colleagues laptops.

I've already contacted the ISP and they insist nothing looks out of the ordinary on their end.

Again. Problem only with Facebook, only on a specific wifi network. Not specific to Chrome, but for me, Chrome is the only browser worth using so I'd really like to fix it.

Thanks in advance for your advice.

Scott

Re: Error 324 (net::ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE): The server closed the connection without sending any data. bioyuki 6/13/12 9:13 PM
I'm having the same exact issue as Scottrlewin for the past few weeks. Some additional information:

The two machines I use have the same issue:
Samsung Series 5 Chromebook running the beta channel:
Version 20.0.1132.22 beta
Platform 2268.42.0 (Official Build) beta-channel x86-alex
Firmware Alex.03.61.0735.0056G3.0021

Old Macbook Pro running OSX 10.5.8 running the stable build of Chrome  19.0.1084.56 as well as current build of Safari

Both machines are affected by this issue only when connected to my home network (Moto SB5101 modem/Linksys E3000 router, both of which have been power cycled and reset to factory defaults). However, my BF (MBP OS X 10.7.4 with various browsers) has no issues when connected to the same network.

Is this issue being caused by some combination of FB account + network and is agnostic to machine/browser?

I agree!  I have been getting the same errors since Google 18, now in 19.  It's best to go back to Firefox 13 or IE 9.  The Google errors have gotten out of hand, and now there is an issue with the Flash Player sound too.  Google has gotten ahead of itself and is just concerned with updating, rather than fixing!

Re: Error 324 (net::ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE): The server closed the connection without sending any data. scottrlewin 6/15/12 9:36 AM
After getting very fed up and not having success with any of the other troubleshooting help I was able to find at various other sites, I just did a hard reset of the router and set it up again as new.

Seems to have solved the problem, we'll see if it pops up again in a year.

Thanks for all of the not help!

Hi, it's started happening to me, as well. Same exact message, same story... The only "solution" I found ( just like many of us here) is to refresh the page but then again, once you close your browser and navigate to a different address, it's happening again. Faults like this must have affect many users of Chrome. They should really inform us about possible technical faults and fixes, as they do know about these problems!

Along with other Chrome issues, it's enough to make me consider going back to Firefox with my tail between my legs :(

It works for me... however it's the third time I've had to do it in the past two months so it doesn't seem to be a permanent fix.

Hi Jacky,

It really weird and funny that in Chrome, I am unable to open Gmail which is also a google product. All the other sites, including other google sites are working fine, but not Gmail. Also, gmail is working fine on IE.
I tried using both gmail.com and mail.google.com URLs. I have created a net-internals file which I will post once you respond.
Please take a look.
Thanks,

I just confirmed even the current 32bit beta SPDY apache mod is the source of this issue.

If you run the website that you have this problem with...

apachectl restart

Re: Error 324 (net::ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE): The server closed the connection without sending any data. brophs 9/11/12 8:04 AM
I think the solution (or at least it was for me) may be to do with conflicting MTU values on your PC and your router.

First open your router's homepage (mine being a netgear is accessed using 192.168.0.1 but yours may be different). Note the MTU setting in the router.

Then on your PC Open a command line window as an Administrator (ie. right click on All Programs > Accessories > Command Prompt and select Run as administrator)
and paste the following (without the quotation marks) "netsh interface ipv4 show subinterface". You will see a few lines each of which will have an MTU value. Ignore the one that refers to "loopback", if it's there.

Mine had the value 1500 for each of them. However my router's MTU value was 1492. From what I have read, what's important is that the MTU value is NOT higher on your PC than your router. The following links explain why.

http://www.google.ie/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=2&cad=rja&ved=0CCgQFjAB&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.kitz.co.uk%2Fadsl%2FMTU.htm&ei=B09PUPG-Gcq2hQfHz4CADw&usg=AFQjCNGwocR9hN1XPyTkIorzNq4vs3TvYg

http://www.billion.uk.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=13

But basically you should, if possible, have the values being the same on both the router and PC. To change the MTU value on the PC open a new CMD window the same way as before:

Type the command netsh and wait for prompt
Type the command interface and wait for prompt
Type the command ipv4 and wait for prompt
Type the command set subinterface "Local Area Connection" mtu=xxxx store=persistent
Type the command set subinterface "Wireless Network Connection" mtu=xxxx store=persistent

You change the XXXX above to the correct MTU value you want to set it to. I had two wireless connections listed so I changed it for the Local Area Connection and each of the wireless connections (mine were called Wireless Network Connection 12 and Wireless Network Connection 13. If yours has a number in it include that in the lines you type as above).

Then restart the PC and the MTU values should have changed. In my case once those matched the MTU value on my router the 324 errors completely disappeared.

Hopefully that might help a few people.

If you start a thread in the public issue tracker I'd be happy to attach the Dump file that I captured with chrome://net-internals

Happening across our network to Chrome users, not to IE or Firefox. Happens on Windows 7 and XP, all up to date.
Chrome Version 22.0.1229.94 m
Only happens on Google sites, weirdest thing ever. Google.com, gmail, our school's email site (mail.chaparralstaracademy.com), google apps, etc. Two different errors occur, usually together:

Re: Error 324 (net::ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE): The server closed the connection without sending any data. Costyn 10/29/12 5:07 AM
Solved:

Replying to the thread, not specifically previous post.

We solved the problem at our office because someone was running an IPv6 router advertisement daemon without actually being able to route IPv6. Only websites that return an IPv6 address to DNS requests will have this problem.

If you go to network settings and then click on Advanced then tab TCP/IP, 'Configure IPv6' should be on 'Automatically'. If you see a router address, it might be the cause of the problem. Try setting it to 'Link local only', that should solve your problem. You won't be able to use IPv6, but it wasn't working in your network anyways.

Apparently you just wait for Google to fix the problem, because they do not seem to respond to these forums very often.

If you are patient, they will collect mass data and eventually fix the problem when they get around to it.

but I ll tell you my experience

I had a linksys DD-wrt router ,the build I had had an exploit
what I noticed was that when trying to login yahoo the URL was jumping like redirects and could nt login ,cnn.com had ( Error 324 (net::ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE) ,some other sites as well

SO here comes the pain...when access those sites with TOR or any VPN (encrypted) sites had no problem ...tried 3 different pc (one had linux) so no trojan or any settings on browser or PC ..IT WAS from The router or or smthing in the ISP side I have identified the router cause when I connected straight to modem site were working ,when I connected the router back ..strange behavior arrose

iptables hack ,+ DNS hack ,changing DNS from my ISP to public google didnt help either .. everytime some site had  a problem I tried accesing it trhough VPN guess what it worked perfectly guess because they have their own DNS resolver and encrypted traffic

and now I am getting PARANOID ...we are f@#$@#@ed ..nothing is secure

After that chrome refuses to open domain xxxxx.dev  (firefox opens it) I reloaded chrome - not solved the problem (solved by renaming xxxxx.dev to xxxxx2.dev in /etc/hosts)

okay here is what I do not understand about the
"Error 324 (net::ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE): The server closed the connection without sending any data."

If it is for example a router issue or something to do with my connection. than why are other browsers not having the same problem. If it's a routing issue than the error should occur at the router and all applications and devices behind that point should also be affected. this makes sense. How is it that only chrome is affected by this issue?

Logic would indicate that the issue is with chrome itself. The error is not random or inconsistent. There are certain sites that chrome is not loading and I do not know why. Sites like gmail. They never load never have loaded I have uninstalled the browser and reinstalled it I have switched to a beta still nothing.

The only posting in which I can find an official response about this error is dated may of 2011 and is fixed in chrome 13.

This error seems to most likely occur when attempting to load a website that utilizes Google authentication.

This has been very frustrating as I have been dealing with this problem for over a month now.

THANK YOU! Same damn issue, only Chrome has the problem, only with Google login pages (gmail, youtube, etc). Driving me insane, but more importantly my coworkers. I wish Google would get on here and tell us what is up. Do you have a filter? We use iprism filter, only problem I could think of but even with it off the problem is still there.

Re: Error 324 (net::ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE): The server closed the connection without sending any data. Nyan Guy 12/12/12 7:42 PM
I found that going incognito works just fine and so far NO error 324
Re: Error 324 (net::ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE): The server closed the connection without sending any data. Ted Gates 12/14/12 7:52 AM
hi guys,
i recently had this nagging problem with a particular website.
what i did to resolve it was changed my Ip address and it worked like a charm.
I used Hide Ip Easy to use a virtual Ip.
Give it a try. See whether it works for you.
BTW, i got the software from
http://inamsoftwaress.blogspot.com/2012/07/hide-ip-easy-v5186-full-crack-download.html
thanx
Re: Error 324 (net::ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE): The server closed the connection without sending any data. Anna Maler 12/15/12 2:28 AM
Same with me, but I can't open Tagged.com with google, firefox as well internet explorer. only this site I can't open. Strange. Any suggestions?
Re: Error 324 (net::ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE): The server closed the connection without sending any data. John English 12/15/12 6:47 AM
The problem is definitely with Chrome. I had a user complain that he couldn't use Chrome, despite the fact that I seemed to be able to (I use it for testing together with IE and Firefox on my development system). I'm running an SSL server with a self-signed certificate and it says that the certificate is not trusted. I say "proceed anyway" and I get a 324, but when I look at the server logs it hasn't sent a request at all. Works fine with IE and Firefox of course. I upgraded to the latest Chrome; no change. Using the IP address instead of the domain name makes no difference. A local copy of the same site running on my development machine and accessed as 127.0.0.1 works fine. I'm going to get Wireshark on the job I think...
Re: Error 324 (net::ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE): The server closed the connection without sending any data. John English 12/16/12 9:07 AM
Wireshark shows this for the SSL (TLSv1.1) part of the conversation:
  Client Hello (245 bytes)
Server Hello, certificate, key exchange, hello done (1370)
Client key exchange, change cipher spec, encrypted handshake (236)
  Change cipher spec (60)
  Encrypted handshake (123)
then I hit "proceed anyway":
  Client hello (277)
  Server hello (140)
  Change cipher spec (60)
  Encrypted handshake (123)
Change cipher spec, encrypted handshake (129)
Application data (491)... presumably the request?
But no request shows up in the server log, and hitting "reload" on the 324 dialog has no effect whatsoever.

Re: Error 324 (net::ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE): The server closed the connection without sending any data. Joost Z 12/17/12 8:13 PM
I've had the same problem since last Friday Dec 14. Only tagged.com won't load on my laptop.

Despite my repeated requests for help to both Tagged and Google, no response or action :(

Re: Error 324 (net::ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE): The server closed the connection without sending any data. CodfishCatfish 12/23/12 4:56 AM
It's simple the remote server is blocking you PERIOD. I knew a guy who installed a pirate version of Winzip. The program flagged him as using a pirate version and he can no longer access the website. When he used his smart phone on WIFI it would not let him access Winzip.com and then he switched to 3G it worked OK hence Winzip blocking his IP address PERMENANT. But in my case it's my own server, and the server logs show that the server never even receives anything from Chrome. It also works fine with IE and Firefox. It's simple, Chrome is screwed up PERIOD.

Error 324 (net::ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE): The server closed the connection without sending any data. Kyle Do 12/25/12 1:37 AM
December 25th 2012,
I literally bought a brand new out of the box desktop a little less than 24 hours ago (took me about 15 minutes to "fix" my issue) and installed everything properly to its default settings. I am not very tech savvy, but I do have time to mess around with my computers and laptops to learn a few trades and I am well aware that I have not downloaded any malware or virus, (obviously was not even able to connect to the internet) but my pc did come with a trial antivirus/firewall program (Trend Micro Titanium). All of the programs were from default except "Trend Micro Titanium," so I uninstalled and rebooted and my IE was working just fine. My first intent when starting the computer for the first time was to install my Norton and then download Google Chrome. Now IE and GC have been working properly. After reading some solutions to this issue, the most logical solution for my case was the "antivirus/firewall," because I did not get the chance to browse or download anything except "Trend Micro Titanium." I am not saying this program is the issue, but I assume it is the antivirus/firewall blocking something. I currently have Norton and Avast installed and running, no issues have occured. I redownload "Trend Micro Titanium" to see if it was the initial problem and then rebooted, and everything is still working properly.

I would suggest that anyone with this problem should at least try my method, reinstall your antivirus/firewall.
Make sure you do not browse the web until your antivirus/firewall are completely reinstalled to prevent any unblocked entities from entering your computer.
If this does not help, I am sorry and the wish you the best of luck.
If it does, awesome.

My friend is having this same issue. But he is getting to Error messages at random intervals.

Error 324 (net::ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE): The server closed the connection without sending any data.

Error 15 (net::ERR_SOCKET_NOT_CONNECTED): Unknown error.

He is having this issue on all of his browsers on his laptop (OS - Windows 7; Chrome Version - Unknown)  however not on his desktop.

Re: Error 324 (net::ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE): The server closed the connection without sending any data. Aminul Hasan 12/30/12 2:19 PM
In my slight experiences as a system admin, when I would set-up a server and it responded with this error to my clients, which are the end-users such as you guys.. I would have to configure the server's firewall to respond to all client requests.  Their server's firewall might be the issue.  Again, this issue was resolved by me manually configuring the server's firewall, I understand most end-users would not have this immediate freedom to configure the respective server responding with this error.

Hope this helps troubleshooting.

I'm having the same issue and I don't use IDM. I've seen that it clears for a while if you remove all the cache from the specific page, but that can't be a solution...
Re: Error 324 (net::ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE): The server closed the connection without sending any data. John English 1/19/13 7:24 AM
I've had a report from the Chrome developers that the problem relates to the fact that Chrome uses TLS 1.1 by default:

> On Windows 7, if I click the "Use TLS 1.1" box in Internet Options >
> Advanced, Internet Explorer also has the same problem.
>
> Chrome enables TLS 1.1 by default. You can run chrome.exe with the

So it might be worth trying this rather than getting paranoid about servers blocking your IP or firewall issues or viruses or whatever.

I'm getting this...

Error 324 (net::ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE): The server closed the connection without sending any data

...everyday now, in chrome.  How is this error still going and chrome is moving so slow, when I have only a handful of add-on's going, yet chrome is either really slow over the past month or two, and now it's crashing all the time with empty responses.

It only works again after a restart. PITA, because it's not happening in other browsers but all my bookmarks are in chrome.  Is there a fix for this or not?  When will chrome run like it used to and keep running without error 324's?

I had this issue when trying to connect to facebook via a bookmark.  I tried all the usual stuff - clear cache/cookies/history/etc, uninstall/reinstall chrome, spyware/virus check, rebooting my modem & switch, using different DNS servers...nothing.

It was only in Chrome, and only on this PC (Win7)
I'd manaually entered the bookmarked URL as 'www.facebook.com'.  I tried changing this to 'https://www.facebook.com/' to force https and now the issue has gone away.

But from what I've read there are many different causes of this, and its not restricted to Windows.  Just one more little thing you can try I guess.

Re: Error 324 (net::ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE): The server closed the connection without sending any data. Anomini 2/7/13 2:53 PM
I get it when I use a different search engine other than google.  I also get this error stalling my connection out on FB, Twitter, Tumblr, insanejournal, livejournal, youtube, the New York Post, and other sites that shouldn't be causing it.

Error 324 (net::ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE): The server closed the connection without sending any data.

This has become the bane of my existence while using chrome.  I can't get it to STOP unless I restart my computer, entirely.  I'm giving this one more week since it's a daily occurrence and all my scans have come up clean or are working as intended, i.e. - virus scan, malwarebytes, spybot, cccleaner, spyware blaster to block.

Getting really really tired of this, tbh.  There's no reason why google couldn't have fixed this if a lot of replies are going on since 2011, with people having the same error and problem.

I'm getting this error as well sometimes when I try to access websites that try to check my cookies.
Microsoft websites cause this error the most.
I've reproduced the error with their site http://social.msdn.microsoft.com
(wasn't able to attach dump file)

Sometimes this happens with Facebook as well.
Using Incognito mode or clearing the cookies helps but it happens again shortly after.

Please look into this it's very annoying.
Thanks!

I found another potential solution, it requires editing the target for your Chrome link.
1) If your link is pinned to the taskbar, unpin it.
2) Right click on the Google Chrome link, and press Properties.
3) Add -–disable-ssl-false-start to the end of the Target, it goes outside the quotes.  Mine says: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Google\Chrome\Application\chrome.exe" -–disable-ssl-false-start
Press OK.
4) Pin link back to taskbar by dragging it down to it.

I found this solution at:
http://www.z-car.com/blog/web/google-chromes-new-false-start-feature?doing_wp_cron=1358522209.7925169467926025390625

It offers two solutions to Error 101.  The 2nd seems to work for me.

I finally wiped my hard drive and reinstalled the operating system. For me, this was the only effective solution to this error. The good news is that it wasn't as difficult or as disruptive as I expected. On the clean operating system, I've only installed critical windows updates as I don't want to reproduce the conditions that generated the error in the first place. A nice side effect is that my system is running much faster now.

You can see my replies in a few places on this thread. I have wiped and reinstalled my operating system, and did a hard reset on my router -- among other assorted attempted remedies. But I've found that the error 324 re-occurred a few hours after I re-installled netnanny. Are you finding that others with this error have netnanny installed?

For those receiving Error 324 related to a netnanny installation -- I contacted NetNanny support at ContentWatch and was sent the following instructions for resolving error 324. Note that in my case, I had uninstalled Net Nanny, so I was asked to reinstall the application before resetting winsock. If you still have Net Nanny installed, you can just try running the "Netsh winsock reset" command.

Good luck!

Hello,

Please reinstall Net Nanny and then follow the steps below.

Click on Start and then on Programs, then on Accessories and right click on Command Prompt and chose Run as Administrator.

In the command prompt type in the following and hit Enter at the end of the line, then reboot and try the internet again making sure you are logged into the system tray icon.

Netsh winsock reset

hi there i recently encountered this problem while installing a web filter program for my internet rental shop/cafe (handy cafe filter) and got error 324 messages while trying to access youtube, mangareader and other sites. while back-reading this forum i stumbled upon a post here that "netnanny" was probably causing the trouble which was also a net filter then i tried to compare my units that i've installed working handy filter against the ones that keeps having 324 error for 3 days and i finally stumbled on a an issue or a bug with handy filter and my avast anti-virus.

the fix was simple but might not be advisable for all because of the risk involve

i simply turned of the web shield service of my avast which is somewhat using the same service with the net filter in effect chocking the data transfer thus resulting to 324 error

hope this helps

Had the same problem, tried all the suggestions yet none worked.

Then I found out it was the antivirus program. Running an outdated Kaspersky on Windows 7. Deactivated and used Avast instead. No 324s so far.

Maybe it's useful info to anyone.

I've had this problem as well for weeks now. And I tried many of the things listed in this forum as well. Before all this I downloaded the Kapersky free trial and when I uninstalled it, ta da! Re: Error 324 (net::ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE): The server closed the connection without sending any data. brianarm 7/6/13 1:35 PM
I don't think this issue is specific to Google Chrome. I'm also not certain that there isn't one answer for everyone.

If you search on Google the error message Error 324 (net::ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE) you'll find in the 40,000 plus resulting pages that this error message is occurring on multiple browsers (Opera, Chrome, IE, Safari), across a variety of server CMSs (Wordpress, Joomla, Drupal, ubuntu), on a variety of different server configurations and in both Windows & Mac environments.

Given that it doesn't seem to affect just one browser, O/S or delivery platform (CMS), I suspect that it is something relevant to almost all websites today, independent of the server on which the websites reside. What is one of the most common server-side scripting languages in use today? PHP.

There was a PHP bug report (October 30, 2012) submitted here:

https://bugs.php.net/bug.php?id=63394

Apparently the individual submitting this report felt that the error message was caused by XCache, a PHP code cacher. After removing XCache from his PHP configuration the issue resolved for him and the report was Closed and labelled Not A Bug.

Searching XCache for the specific error message did not garner any useful results.

So I went back to PHP and found a few other similar reports:

This one (February 21, 2012) was closed because the original submitter failed to provide feedback:

https://bugs.php.net/bug.php?id=61156

This one (January 4, 2013) seems to be active but stagnant as there is only 1 reply, and apparently from a website developer like myself that is frustrated with the continual error messages:

https://bugs.php.net/bug.php?id=63896

Now, I don't understand most of what's being discussed in these reports (I am not a server expert by any stretch of the imagination), but clearly a large number of people are receiving Error 324 (net::ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE) while browsing.

Most of the discussions about this error message have lots of contributors. And there are likely many more who are experiencing the same issue but have not contributed to the conversations simply because of the large volume of existing discussion. "Why repeat what has already been said. I think I'll just sit and wait for a solution."

Given the diversity of O/Ss, Browsers, Websites and server configs, it only seems logical to me to pursue a 'common' possibility that might affect all of these diverse situations.

That commonality in my mind 'seems' to be PHP. That said, this is only an observation. Those that work directly with the development and configuration of PHP in server-related environments are the community that I think could best address the validity of this line of thinking.

It would require testing with a variety of browsers, on multiple server environments, serving a multitude of different web pages, using a healthy range of website configurations that rely on PHP as a scripting language.

Piece of cake, right?

If you want to go the other route, and utilize one of the numerous 'fixes' proposed online from emptying cache, to running in Incognito mode, adjusting your router settings, messing with your registry and even eliminating and/or reinstalling software you're free to do so. Some of these 'appear' to work for some people for a period of time, but overall the error message seems to persist.

I don't think any of us can jump to conclusions based on our experiences using just Chrome. I'm not afraid of being wrong, but I am concerned about jumping to half-baked conclusions without examining the whole situation as it applies to the overwhelming variety of circumstances.

Regards,

Brian

I don't remember the steps that led to error 324. I have had two Gmail accounts that I developed through Google Chrome +.
One account is accessible when I go to it through Internet Explorer, but the other is not.
I had Babylon Yahoo! attach itself to my account and there was a "Delta Search" engine that attached itself to the problem account. Delta Search was successfully removed from my business account, however it continued to appear on my personal account.
When I did a search on "Delta" it showed up on the internet as a virus.
How can I get rid of the "Shield" that covers my installation of Google Chrome+ and return to the original account I had?
Re: Error 324 (net::ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE): The server closed the connection without sending any data. Starr Sommerhalder 9/1/13 10:54 AM
My Google Chrome+ page has become inaccessible to me. When I try to go to it I get the usual icon with a Shield in front of it.
I can access my business account through Internet Explorer, but I can't access my private account at all.
My son just cleared my computer of all corrupt and unnecessary programs, but that did not solve the problem. When I tried to reload Google the icon still appeared with a Shield in front of it and I am still unable to access Google directly.
Because of that I deleted Google again.
How do I remove the shield so that I can have my accounts back?

I'm getting this error on a few sites that I know of right now: aol.com and google.com. I have the file ready for upload. I believe it's the right file, the description didn't exactly match what I was seeing in front of me.
Chrome version: Version 32.0.1700.107 m

I posted this as feedback before posting here.  Happens all the time.  Version 33.0.1750.117 m Most recently on Slashdot.org just trying to get to a Comments section to read and comment.  Worked perfectly fine in IE and FF.  Not sure why the dump is 3MB but here it is, hope it helps.  This is a crippling bug to the point where Chrome is no longer usable.  I prefer the Chrome debugging tools to FF so it's really a shame, but I'll need to use FF until this can be looked into.

I'm also having issues loading site that I've been able to go to before. I cannot access the American Heart Association website at this time. I've run antivirus software, reset my modem, cleared browsing data. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Be sure to reset your networking interfaces and scan your machine for viruses.

(**I am not responsible in any way for any damage done to your pc, if any of this seems complicated contact a computer professional**)
For Windows Machines:
1. Open command prompt as an administrator (if you have windows xp just open command prompt window)
2. Type netsh winsock reset --> press Enter
3. Type netsh int ip reset --> press Enter
4. Type ipconfig /dnsflush --> press Enter
5. Type ipconfig /release --> press Enter (This command will cause you to lose internet until you type the next command)
6. Type ipconfig /renew --> press Enter (Will refresh your ip address)
7. Type ipconfig /registerdns --> press Enter
8. Reboot your computer and try to login again

Another thing to note is you cannot use google accounts/most websites if you use Virtualbox NAT network adapter setup. To fix this open virtualbox preferences and change your network adapter to "Bridged Mode" .
More information on that can be found here: http://www.virtualbox.org/manual/ch06.html#network_nat

Good Luck!
