Only in Chrome - Error 324 Unable to load the webpage because the server sent no data. nzo 2/9/12 1:50 PM
This ONLY happens in Chrome, Windows XP, SP3. Current Chrome version is 17.0.963.46 m.

PROBLEM:
No data received
Unable to load the webpage because the server sent no data.
Here are some suggestions:
Reload this webpage later.
Error 324 (net::ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE): The server closed the connection without sending any data.

This is a tiresome error that is annoying enough for me to put Chrome on the back burner. I'm a web designer and have used Chome for years without a hitch.

I know it is expedient to repeat "It's not Chrome, it's something on your system, or something else".

That may be possible but currently the evidence is against it.

I've been through many of the suggested solutions: router, winsock, IDM, this and that. None of them work. Most of the questions/responses are dated 2011 and earlier and in some cases someone at Google has assumed that the Error 324 problem is resolved.

It is not. It is alive and well and driving Chrome users crazy.

Further to my above post:

This forum has several times referred to the URL chrome://net-internals/help.html to assist in troubleshooting. When I open this page in Chrome there are no tabs, no Dump To File, no Export tabs. The only button is "Close this popup" and it doesn't work!

IOW, I cannot "get data for bug reports" - go figure.

Hello,
I have Chrome Beta 18.0.1025.39 version, with Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bits, and I'm facing the same problem above every time I install a new Microsoft Update (any update; apparently, it doesn't matter if it's a Windows update, or a Office update, or a Security update, etc.). Then, I restore the last updates installed and my access to the internet returns. This situation appeared in the last two or three days, unfortunately, and since then I'm avoiding to install new updates.
That is happening with all browsers in my PC (Chrome, IE9 32-bits and IE9 64-bits). Only few sites keep connecting when the error comes. Some sites in Google domain (as mail.google.com) are most of those still working.
I also cannot "get data for bug reports" due to the same reasons of nzo: when I open the URL chrome://net-internals/help.html in Chrome, there are no tabs, no Dump To File, no Export tabs. The only button is "Close this popup".
Please, help me to solve this trouble. I would like to return to download and install the updates of Windows...

Further about my above experience:

When I try to connect internet at my work place with a proxy server, even with updates installed and with the problems happening at my home, all sites open perfectly. So, the problem happens only when the connection is between my notebook and my home router.

However, two other PCs at my home, also in the wireless network with the same router, works normally. One of them also uses Windows 7 (however Windows 7 Starter Edition 32-bits) with browser Chrome Beta 18, and the Windows Updates are not causing problems.

Well, I hope those further explanations be useful helping me to solve the problem.

Thanks.

Win 7 Ultimate SP1 Dutch
Chrome 17.0.963.79 Dutch

Been struggling with this for a couple of weeks now. Explored and tried many of the 'solutions', that are suggested in the forums. But to no avail.
Even a Chrome reinstall did not help.
The problem is global and huge. Time for Google to fix it.

Update:

It seems that error 324 happens for some who also run Internet Download Manager on their system. Here is the info I found:

If you get "Unable to load the webpage because the server sent no data" - open IDM and go to menu bar Downloads > Options > General and uncheck the "use advanced browser integration" checkbox.

Voila! Chrome works again. At least for me. No harm to try it and see if this solves your error 324 problem.

Same here.  I honestly thought I was about to lose my mind.  All day long I've been refreshing, restarting, I can't work on my site with this nonsense.  This is NOT resolved.

I've done the same; router, winsock, even disabled Norton Antivirus.  HELP!

:(  Error 324 (net::ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE): The server closed the connection without sending any data.
How come nobody, least of all google chrome people, knows how to deal with this?
It's been around for a long time.
Most I really leave goggle chrome. Or is it a computer setting problem?
Have spent the best part of two days searching for answers. All the good advise is not working. I do not understand. Guess internet just died. R.I.P

I have the same problem, only at work, and now I have to switch to firefox. Could someone at google take a look at this? I've attached an image of the problem. I've also uninstalled and reinstalled chrome; it only errors out when I try to access google websites.

Also less frequent errors include 101,103

Google Chrome version: 21.0.1180.89 m with No Extensions
Operating Systems -Windows 7 sp1,Ubuntu 12.04,Windows 8 preview

Tried every solution - Winsock,IDM ,clearing cache cookies,Disabling/uninstalling avast ,Fixing registry issues, Re-installing chrome,etc..

incognito works fine for several minutes and then back to error 324.
Hope to get a solution for this...

give this option a try --ssl-version-max=tls1

this disables tls1.1 and 1.2 which may be causing your issues.  Sounds like they are working on making this fall back to 1.0 if 1.1 or 1.2 fails, but in the meantime...  if you want to read more, here's where I found this, lots of reading ahead:

hope this helps
