I was using Google Chrome, then I had a blackout.
Once I turned on my computer when the power came back, Google Chrome could not go to any web pages.
Firefox, Internet Explorer, Safari, Opera, and Netscape seem to work perfectly, except Google Chrome.
How do I fix this?

Google Chrome version: 4.0.249.89 (Official Build 38071)
Operating System: Windows Vista Home Premium x86
URLs (if applicable): All
Error Message: Error 109 (net::ERR_ADDRESS_UNREACHABLE): Unknown error.
Extensions installed: None.

Check if Google Chrome is allowed through the firewall.

Firewall is off, so there is no need to.
Even if it was on, Google Chrome is allowed in it.

Back up your bookmarks and create new Chrome profile

Reinstall Chrome.

Well, I had uninstalled Chrome through the Control Panel, and then downloaded the installer and reinstalled it. I had my themes, bookmarks, and extensions still there when I reinstalled. Do you mean I should complete delete the entire Google folder?

Yes, rename the folder, not delete it (in case you need the data back).  There is likely a corrupt file in the User Data folder.

So is anyone going to help me with this? Or do I have to reformat my computer just to use Chrome? Firefox is laggy, and Internet Explorer is just terribly slow.

there a way to fix this. Click 'the tools (customize and control)' on the top of the browser then go to 'options' Click 'Under The Hood' Tab Then click 'Change proxy setting' In network. Click 'LAN setting' below, make sure you are in the 'connection' Tab. Untick 'Use a proxy server for your LAN. that all

I had the same problem a few minutes ago just after i installed chrome for testing.
I tried to disable the Kaspesky antivirus firewall and the error disappeared. I enabled windows xp firewall and No error. I tried to restore the Kaspesky antivirus firewall and the error returned.
Recommendations: Try to add it to the list of the applications/exceptions if you have an antivirus with firewall enabled. Otherwise try to add it to the list of exceptions for windows firewall.

I came cross the same problem as PhoexiX999R when registering dropbox service and tried the solution provided by bmramba. Unfortunately, I got a new error, which says "Error 118 (net::ERR_CONNECTION_TIMED_OUT): The operation timed out". Who can help? Cheers!

Hi,

same problem. Checked Firwall, Proxy, and re-installed (w/o deinstall). No changes ...#

But then Seamonkey is a nice browser as well. Chrome has been crashing at me (mostly right clicks in formfields) so often, I stay with Mozilla. Google Software is getting realy buggy. Like android, have to reboot my phone so often ...

I'm on a Mac and am experiencing the Error 109 after upgrading to Snow Leopard (10.6). Never had any problem at all with 10.5. The browser works great for about 20 page views, then just stops working and displays "Error 109".

All the other browsers (Safari, Firefox) work great. No clue what's doing this.

pkuhns, what version of Chrome are you using?  If using development version, you can find out what is conflicting with Chrome.

Same problem as pkuhns - Upgraded to Mac OS 10.6.3 and now Chrome doesn't work. Safari and Firefox work fine. Trashed Chrome and reloaded. No go.

I'm still researching this, but after some trial and error, I seem to have resolved it by disabling the Flip4Mac plug-in.

You get there (on the Mac) via the menus: Chrome>Preferences>Under the Hood>Content Settings (under Privacy) - then go down to the Plug-Ins section and click on the "disable individual plug-ins" link, find Flip4Mac plug-in, and disable.

I tested various sites with F4M disabled and had no problem. Re-enabled it and immediately got the error as before. For good measure, I quit Chrome and re-started it with F4M enabled and had the same problem.

ALSO - if you have sites cached in Chrome - say you quit Chrome with several tabs opened - it will reload those on re-start even with F4M enabled. But if you try to go outside of those sites via links on them or to any site in a new window, you'll get the error.

Again - still researching this now - playing with various settings in the plug-in control panel itself to see if it makes a difference or not. I'll report more when I know more, and plan to report it to Telestream as well.

It appears I spoke too soon - because after a few minutes WITH F4M disabled, the problem returned.  :(

I can browser anywhere for the first 2 minutes it seems. After that period, it's like I get disconnected (yet all other browsers work.)

I'm now going through plug-ins and extensions one by one. Will report back.

More observations: SOMETHING is checking in from Chrome a few minutes after starting it seems, and when that happens, you lose the connection. I've had it happen 5 times now. And after each time, a restart of Chrome fixes it for a few minutes at least.

I can tell you right now I have Flash, Quicktime, Java, Silverlight, Flip4Mac, Shockwave, and DoubleTwist disabled and still have the problem - so it's likely not those - or at least those by themselves.

Check your proxy settings. Make sure Automatically detect settings is NOT checked. Go to System Preferences/Network/Advanced/Proxies.

I checked - none of my proxy settings are checked/active.

That said, I've re-enabled all of the disabled plug-ins and everything is working fine now. (scratches head)

I'll keep an eye on it and report back again later.

Two words: Little Snitch. Have had an OLD version running in demo mode forever - and was fine. But since updating to Chrome 4, I guess it's having some problems.

I rebooted my Mac after installing some other software updates, and immediately started having the problem, went in and turned off Little Snitch after being reminded before my reboot that my demo period was over, and the problem went away. Turned it back on, went back to Chrome - problem came back. Off again - problem gone.

Don't know if current version has the same conflicts or not - but I'll find out.
Just thought I would let everyone know.

I also have the problem with OSX 10.6.7. However, restarting Chrome solves the problem.. for a while. Then it's back. Da capo ad infinitum. Incredibly annoying.

Haven't had the problem again since updating Little Snitch to the latest version on 10.6.7. YMMV

I've just got same problem, when I've made vpn connection to my corporate network. DNS servers changed to corporate.
And finaly I realized, why do this happen.

You also may check this by yourself.
If you use FF or Opera, they obey on OS mechanisms and resolve DNS correctly, while Google Chrome doesn't.

Clearing cache via
chrome://net-internals/#dns
doesn't solve the problem.

I've restarted google chrome and (i think) it reloaded dns mechanisms information and started to resolve addresses normaly.

Thanks so much for the post re Little Snitch - I've had the problem with Chrome on the mac for some time and turning off little snitch seems to have done the trick!  I would never have foudn the solution without this post so thanks.

I had this problem when i purchased new router. Simply turn IPv6 all the way off instead of automatic, you only need IPv4, that will fix your problem. everything else on here sounds like a work around. Hope it helps

Solved! Little Snitch Configuration.

It was setup to deny connections To Network:
     Hostnames » www.google-analytics.com

Updated the configuration from 'Deny Connections' to 'Ask'.

Little Snitch asks to connect To Network:
     Hostnames » support.google.com

All my Google tools seem to work. But, it leaves the questions, "is this a covert way of getting more tracking and analytics data from my system?" "Is there a better way to configure Little Snitch so that Analytics is managed properly, but tools continue working?"

Gmail was the only Google tool that was working, but it was sucking up ridiculous CPU and Memory resources. Not sure if this is related, but I'll keep an eye on it. Ideas?
