Check you computer first on spyware and malware with example Spybot search and destroy.

See reference 2, for how to set default search engine.

I have the same problem too. I keep resetting the default browser back to Google, and I even deleted Bing, Yahoo and the other search engine noone cares about. However, Yahoo keeps coming back as my default engine. So annoying!

Yes, mine as well.  Does Google have an answer why Yahoo continually replaces their search engine each time their customers restart Google?  I would think that would be a concern, though I see no handling of this issue on the Google side.

I'm guessing you all have YouTube Downloader installed on your system.

SOLUTION:
Uninstall YouTube Downloader

ADDITIONAL NOTES:

I noticed that there is also a YouTube Downloader toolbar which looks like it may be the issue, but I'm not 100% sure.

So I am just uninstalling the toolbar first to see if that fixes the problem. If not, I will uninstall the entire program (YouTube Downloader).

Thanks Stefan! I believe it solved my problem.

@asmart - I did not intentionally download Youtube Downloader. Is it something that comes automatically when you download Google Chrome or is it attached with something else?

Hey guys, I found the solution.

I downloaded an upgraded version of Youtube Downloader recently, and it kept changing my search engine. Here's the trick: when you download it, it automatically downloads something called Youtube Downloader Toolbar, which doesn't show anywhere on Google Chrome (I only use Chrome), but will show in Internet Explorer (which I never use). When you open Internet Explorer, you should see the Toolbar appear at the top (if you dont see it, click on View - Toolbars). When you see the toolbar, you should see an Options button. There will be an option to Uninstall. And that's it! I tried it, and it works!

This will NOT uninstall Youtube Downloader, only the toolbar software.
