How do I remove or disable a add on in Chrome (i.e. Go Green add on) Tommassini 6/19/09 1:48 AM
I added  Go Green add on to my Chrome browser, but it doesn't work well. I want to remove of disable it, but I don't know where or how to do this.

Please help!

I assume you are referring to addons in developer version of Chrome, no plugins like Flash. Type chrome://extensions and click on uninstall for required addon .

Thnx for answer.

If I type this in the browser, then it says: No Extensions Installed. So this is unfortunately not the way. Any other suggestions?

The Add on I want to disable is Go Green add on, I donwloaded it on http://www.mychromeaddons.com/

tommasssini07, you can uninstall themes by going to wrench > options > Personal Stuff > reset to default theme.

If your extensions are not listed here, they can be uninstalled by deleting them. This can be done by finding out where your extensions are installed in your computer. You can find these from your Chrome profile or you can search them manually in your Documents and Settings folder.

about:plugins in chrome will show the plugins, unfortunately no way to uninstall, and a missing file wont make it stop saying it's there as an plugin, you would have to remove it correctly, and I downloaded a virus plugin due to how sucky chrome works with them, so YAY for idiotic chrome plugins that will make me now restore cause i cant even find which plugins come pre-installed to chrome to see which one it might be, so i still couldn't do it.

Superbike32, you did not describe your problem. If you want to disable addons, go to chrome//extensions page.

The latest development version of Chrome, v5.0266.2, will allow you to disable plugins from about:plugins page.

I have the beta version, the latest it will let me get from the main page, so, if that is not the latest development version, then I don't even care, anyways, loading about:plugins in my browser currently does not show any such thing to disable/remove plugins using about:plugins

And by the way I am using 5.0.342.9 which is later than 5.0.266.2, and it doesn't show up, so either it's a bug or they did something, or whatever, but I don't really care.  If you think it's supposed 2 show try it urself, but don't cry to me if it works for you, and not me, leave me alone about what is meant to be, and i only care about what IS.

in my case, just no such option to remove or disable under about:plugins exists, only in chrome://extensions page has this.

Superbike32, if you do not have the development version of Chrome, then you cannot uninstall plugins from about:plugins page. If you are referring to extension, click on Wrench icon > Extensions. If you are referring to a plugin, reinstalling Chrome may help.

I am of course referring to about:plugins page, and I did make myself clear that there is not an option there for doing it, even while using the later version.  Anyways, then maybe you could point me out to the developers version vs. the main downloaded one.  I am using windows, so if I can't get it running easily using only windows, don't talk, but if I can get the development running tell me what steps to do.

Anyways, my main question now would be, why the difference between the normal/beta downloads and the development version if my version seems to be higher than the needed version anyways?  It seems dumb they would not have released it for all to use normally, why make this flaw and only release it to the special copy version of it that anyone I assume can get?
