|Chrome will download a page as default.aspx||p11ma||3/2/10 1:09 AM|
Please describe your question/comment in detail (for example, steps to reproduce the problem): when I try to open some websites on the web, instead of opening it, chrome downloads it as .aspx file. for example I can't log into Hotmail, because then chrome downloads to me Default.aspx and won't open the page.
For others to best assist you in troubleshooting scenarios, please also provide the following:
Google Chrome version (type in about:version into the address bar): happens in all versions
Operating System: windows xp pro 32bit
URLs (if applicable):
Error Message: Default.aspx
Extensions installed: none

Did you by any chance installed download manager such as Internet Download Manager? I installed it recently and started to have this problem. After I disable the "Integrate IDM into browsers" option, I can open pages just fine.

You can go to the download manger options page and add *.live.com to the list of sites that it shouldn't start automatic downloading from.
I did so & it worked with me and I am now happy :-)

I have never installed IDM or any other download manager to chrome, but I still have this problem. Also I am using version 10.0.648.133 of chrome, and the option suggested by Amr AL-Hossary does not exist.

You can use firefox or IE to open that file.

When it downloads the file it should appear at the bottom of your browser window. There will be a little arrow beside the name of the file it's downloading. Click the arrow and choose the option to "Always open this type of file". Close your browser, re-open and try again. If that doesn't work yet, clear your cache\cookies and try again. Should solve the issue.
