|Google Search button not working in Chrome||tskiapps||7/14/10 5:31 AM|
I'm experiencing a strange problem on a single PC. The "Google Search" button will not work from within Chrome. The predictive capability works, but when I enter my search string and either hit "Enter" or click on "Google Search" nothing happens. If I enter my search string in the URL box and hit "Enter" it works fine. If I used the advanced search page it works fine.
If I use Google from Internet Explorer it works fine.
I ran a scan with Malwarebytes and found nothing.
This is a recent problem and started a few days ago.

I have a workaround...I switched to the iGoogle interface.
This is a very frustrating problem. Hopefully someone will figure out what's causing it...

I have the same thing. Asked the question in a Google help forum, and the reply I got was a link to the Chrome help forum. So apparently nobody knows what is wrong.

Google Chrome started doing this a week or 2 ago for me. I reinstalled it and it was working but the problem has now come back. Strange. I have not found the solution yet either

I like Chrome very much. But since this problem and nobody knows how to resolve it, I am abandoning Chrome. It is very frustrating.

That's happening for me as well. It happened to me a while back, also, but it seemed to fix itself eventually; but now it's back again.

I have the same problem! It is weird because the "I'm Feeling Lucky" button works but I can't bring up a search page without typing it in in the URL box.

make the default search as google in setting and type words directly in address bar

Disabling the Firebug extension fixed this problem for me. Hope this helps others experiencing this issue.

amuller, thanks for the firebug suggestions. I un-installed the Firebug extension and now the Google search button, next page, and all work correctly.

i might of had the same problem. but i solve my issue by adding a new "search engine option". a place where you can direct the search bar to go to if you dont want to search with google no more.
example: "i don't want to search in google.com i want to search in yahoo.com."
"Manage search engine options" is where you would go to change that. funny thing was that google was not their to begin with. so i add a google search engine as an option. and to my amazement, this worked
here is the link to "step" on how to setup your search engine options.
hope this can help others.

I'm from the Firebug Working Group, and I'm working on Firebug Lite. I cannot reproduce this problem. If someone post a issue report I'll investigate and fix the issue.
