Since Google Chrome is geared for web apps, which I find to be very useful for ABC iView (I just have an icon that loads up the video "app") - however, I would like to be able to set the window to be always on top so that I could watch the shows while doing other things with a full window.
|Re: Always on top option.||Bapabooiee||3/9/09 5:32 PM|
I think a feature like that would probably be a little too proprietary for Chrome to have. Methinks this should be a feature built-in to Windows, not the application >:3
You could always try searching for a program that lets you give all windows the option to always be on top; I'm sure some exist. (btw, my old Nvidia graphics card had a driver/software that would create an "always on top" context item for every application. It was really handy =D

It didn't work for me. I want to watch Netflix movies on my second monitor while doing other things on my main, but every time the window loses focus it goes out of fullscreen mode, and the above app's "pins" don't seem to do anything. This happens with any browser-based video system I have tried.

On Ubuntu/Linux, Chrom(ium) does not by default display the title bar and icon which you can click for more window options, such as "Always on Top". To show these window options, one can use the keyboard shortcut alt+space. It would be nice if the Chrome icon were displayed in the upper left hand corner of the window where application icons are usually located, as the icon is rumored to be located in Chrome OS.

@dmiller309: Actually, you can go to [Wrench menu > Options > Personal Stuff], and click the "Use system title bar and borders" button.
Though, I prefer to use Chrome on Linux without the borders. But it's nice to see Chrome complying with the Linux "look and feel" :]

Would be a great feature! Especially for apps
|Re: Always on top option.||bathrobehero||1/18/10 4:25 PM|
I absolutely agree, that Chrome needed the "Always on top" option.
Don not suggest us softwares, when it could be added to chrome easily, not to mention, that almost all program have that option.

I came here looking for the same thing (I'd like to watch the penguins at Edinburgh in a detached Chrome tab). Did a little search, and found "Always On Top Maker"--not particularly for Chrome, but once you run it, "Ctrl+Alt+T" toggles your active window to be "always on top." www.fadsoft.net/AlwaysOnTopMaker.htm

I used AlwaysOnTop from in this turtorial:
It was written using AutoHotkey, you can download here:
After install you just select the window you want to be always on top, and hit
"Ctrl + Space"
..and then the same to deactivate the window. Very easy!

I vote for always on top option.
|Re: Always on top option.||冲哥||9/3/10 7:08 PM|
In my Ubuntu I can right click on the google-chrome tab on the panel-bar(task-bar/the most button bar on the desk) to make my google-chrome always on top.
|Re: Always on top option.||冲哥||9/3/10 7:09 PM|
在Ubuntu中我们可以直接在任务栏（也称作板面）上的任何应用程序的标签上右键，然后选择Always on top这个选项来设置任意一个窗口保持在其它窗口的前面（上面）。

|Re: Always on top option.||dunderduck||6/25/11 3:29 AM|
Then I want an option to NOT have the Chrome window always on top. I am using latest (12.7) version of Chrome on Windows 7 and it is extremely annoying that whenever I do alt-tab or open an attachment that I always have to minimize Chrome to see it. I cannot believe how all you masochists above actually find this a desired feature. I want to be able to opt out from "always on top"!
|Re: Always on top option.||Maranax||6/27/11 9:17 PM|
I suggest to add 'Allways on top' checkboxable menu item in Chrome's window system menu:
So the menu will be looking this way (on Windows XP):
Reopen Closed Tabs
Allways on top !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And to add a command line argument, something like --always-on-top.
It would be very useful !

Is there not a voting mechanism or a plus one for this? I have nothing to say but I support.

Pop-up panels in Chrome OS are great! We need something similar for windows. That's why I'm in favor of a "always on top" option.

The Chrome Toolbox extension by Google has what you're looking for in terms for keeping Chrome windows always on top that are showing videos. It also has the much-appreciated feature of double-clicking on a tab to close it. Unfortunately, neither of those features are supported on Mac or Linux, but it works great in Windows.
|Re: Always on top option.||Ev0oD||3/11/12 7:35 AM|
I have an opposite problem. Chrome decides to sit always on top all by himself from time to time which can get freakishly annoying... What to do?

I just closed and re-opened Chrome, and it was fixed. I have it set to remember where I left off and usually have a couple dozen tabs open, being able to see them all again is great, and have all browsers set to do this...
