chrome has bookmarks not favorites. import them from your other browsers
in firefox or ie export them as (firefox) bookmarks.html or (IE)bookmarks.htm and save them where you can find them like to your desktop etc
ctrl+shift+b to open the bookmarks manager > tools > import

Sorry, "bookmarks" but that doesnt answer my question, Before I updated chrome my "bookmarks" were in a list on the right hand side when I opened chrome, now after updating they are not there and I dont know how to get the list back

You could also try this: Go to your Start menu, and hit "Program Access and Defaults".
Tinker around there, and set whatever you can to "Internet Explorer", and then hit "Ok" or "Apply".
And "bookmarks" and "favorites" are the exact same thing - just different wording.
Anyway, so, Mr. OP? Are you interested in using Google Chrome, or do you just want to go back to your old browser?

If all that fails to solve your problem, try uninstalling your Chrome, and reinstall it. Or you could just launch the other browser you regularly use( I assume you got one) and export your favorites. Once you are done, ctrl+shift+B in Chrome and import the bookmarks.

Very much thanks Dwight Stegall, ctrl + shift + b, did the trick for me, you saved me one hell of a lot of searching to do all over, thanks again.

Go to the wrench logo in top right corner of screen. Click it go down to options. Under options you should see "Personal Stuff." Under personal stuff you will see the choice to import favorites from other web browsers. Click and all your favorites will be on your home page for Google Chrome. At your home page, or it is for me, you will see in the upper right corner a yellow box says other bookmarks. Click that and you should see your favorites from your old web browser. Hope this helps.

Try clicking the STAR in the upper right hand corner.
