Java is not working on google chrome but working perfectly on internet explorer? Yasi 2/12/09 12:14 PM
I am using google chrome 1.0.154.48 which is by far the latest available. I installed Java version 6 update 12 on my system to properly browse some websites that demand demand Java. Even after complete installation of the Java software it is not running properly on google chrome but perfectly on Internet explorer. I uninstalled the Java software and reinstalled it but no gain. I then installed chrome and reinstalled it but of no use. I visited the java tester webpage www.javatester.org to test the browser. The chrome did not pass the test but internet explorer was working properly.
The chrome is giving error message mentioning `application failed to run.` When I clicked on the details it showed the following:

Thanks

hi, google chrome seems to have big problems with java anyway so i'd suggest keeping to ie or firefox until it's stable. for example, the popular online game, runescape freezes every 10 seconds on chrome but not on any others.
i'd suggest to keep away from chrome until it's totally stable and working properly.

According to Sun website
"Google Chrome requires Java 6 Update 10 (Java 6u10), as indicated in the Google Chrome Help Center. The Chrome browser is new and not officially supported by Sun for Java 6. However, you may be able to use Chrome with Java 6u10 at your own risk. Sun will continue monitoring the acceptance of Chrome in the marketplace. "
so go here for official FAQ from Sun : http://java.com/en/download/faq/chrome.xml
Re: Java is not working on google chrome but working perfectly on internet explorer? tommygator 2/19/09 10:02 AM
you have Java 6u12 and google chrome needs Java 6u10 to sum it up.

This is the same with me. JavaScript isn't enabled in Chrome.

The interesting line within your stack trace is:

  Caused by: java.net.UnknownHostException: www.javatester.org

It appears that you're using a proxy or firewall that bars applets running within Chrome from accessing the internet. Not a solution yet, but a path to follow that looks promising :-(

And yes, javatester.org runs smoothly on my PC using both Chrome 1.0.154.48 and Java 6 Update 12, as Chrome requires AT LEAST Java 6 Update 10.

I appreciate all who replied to my query but still there is no answer that can resolve this issue.
Thanks anyways!

maybe this is not what you want but(!)
use the latest developer channel build (2.0.170.0)
switch to it like it says here

then use the latest sun java 6.12
and maybe it'll work

i have these configuration and as far as i can tell, all works fine

Same problem for me.  I've tried everything and I'm an advanced PC user.  Either there is something specific w/ registry since this is my work PC (but I have very close to full admin rights on it) or well, Java doesn't work with Chrome. How this works for so many baffles me. It doesn't work at all for me. BBR tweak test, JVM test, all applet test sites, etc.  Garbage "go download this plugin!" yeah I get it but that's not the fix.  Can't believe they released it without running Java well especially since they even touted how clean it runs Java? Did I miss something? Otherwise love it. Java problem has to go and soon. It's silly.

My Java was working fine on chrome until last week, when Java said it had an update to download and i accepted. Now when I try to get into my FTP client for my website, it won't even kick in. I don't want to use Firefox, and hate IE. But last night forced to open IE just to delete and upload some new files. I really hope Google fixes this soon, i want my browser back!!!
Google, are you listening???

There is some sort of problem for some Java apps relating to the latest update. Users have mentioned it here:
and

There is also an issue which you can star here to show your interest in getting a quick solution to this problem:

I have a factory installed Windows Vista.Liked Google Chrome, but internet explorer often interferes. IE slows down and Google crashes. IE wants payment for all upgrades even when my programs are Genuine. IE is creating miscief in running Google, as its firewall and Antivirus do not allow login to Google! Can Google do something about it.  IE is very slow ,, what to do?

Re: Java is not working on google chrome but working perfectly on internet explorer? gabole 1/26/12 12:22 AM
same problem here, java is not working on chrome 16 but perfectly on all browsers. i reinstalled everything, still not working...
Re: Java is not working on google chrome but working perfectly on internet explorer? RonicBeatsz 2/1/12 5:58 AM
I still haven't found the fix for this problem, Java does NOT work on Chrome, it does on Firefox and IE, I have reinstalled java a billion times to come to this conclusion, and it's bugging me because I really would like to keep using Chrome, together with Java.
Re: Java is not working on google chrome but working perfectly on internet explorer? Death Llama 7/3/12 7:40 AM
I had this problem a while ago, managed to fix it, but then updated Java and it broke again (crap). Google Chrome uses its own Java plugin thing, so you need to disable the one on your computer or disable the one in Google Chrome, but one won't work so you kind of have to guess and check. I forgot how to find the disable/enable list, but I'll let you know if I find it. I am also 100% certain that it is the problem, so try this before you try other things.
Re: Java is not working on google chrome but working perfectly on internet explorer? Death Llama 7/3/12 8:02 AM
Ok, what you need to do is go to "chrome://plugins/" (without quotation marks.) This page will show you all of the plugins that Chrome is using. Since Chrome uses Java, any versions of it that you have will appear here. Now, don't disable anything. Go to Java's download page, and look for the download that will work for your computer; for example, if you have a Windows, download Windows 32-bit or 64-bit, whichever you have. After that, go through the installation accordingly, and try using Java in Chrome (I used http://runescape.com/game.ws?j=1). It should work, however if it does not, go back to the plugins page and try enabling and disabling the different Java programs until it does. I hope it works for you!
