It's important to sync your Google account with Chrome. If you haven't synced it, you can't see your Google toolbar favorites from IE or Fx. This site helped direct me the right way.
Hope it helps you as well!

Well, I use Google Chrome version 8.0.552.237 on Windows 7. Click on the Wrench icon in the browser, then on Options>Tab Personal Stuff>Browsing Data: Import data from another browser>click on the field from and select "Google Toolbar". It should import your Google Bookmarks now into your Google Chrome bookmarks.
The fact that the little star from Google Chrome disappeared seems strange to me. Did you try uninstalling and reinstalling the newest version of Chrome?
Chrome also has an option under Options>Tab Personal Stuff>Sync to keep your favorites and passwords and the like (you can select) stored in the cloud. Should you install Chrome on another computer, you will be able to sync your data with this second computer.
Please note that the bookmarks you create in Google Chrome are NOT identical to Google Bookmarks! Google Bookmarks are created via the Google Toolbar in Internet Explorer and can be imported into Chrome as described above. There is no sync function between Chrome and Google Bookmarks.
If you do not want or cannot use Chrome bookmarks because you are missing this little star, and you still have all your favorites in Google Bookmarks, I would recommend installing a Chrome extension called "YAGBE - Yet another Google Bookmarks Extension" from here: https://chrome.google.com/extensions/detail/jdnejaepfmacfdmhkplckpfdcjgbeode
It will allow you to access/edit your Google Bookmarks in a drop down menu, and add new bookmarks as well, similar to the Bookmarks button in the Google toolbar.
So you have two options for using Chrome: importing you Google Bookmarks to Chrome and discontinue Google Bookmarks, or installing the extension and ignore Chrome bookmarks (maybe except for your favorites bar).
Hope this helped.

Thank you! This answer was very helpful. I did not know the bookmarks you create in Google Chrome are NOT identical to Google Bookmarks! The star that disappeared was YAGBE, I didn't realize it wasn't part of Chrome. Now I can syn to other computers as you led me to Options/Personal stuff. Hey, I used to live in Sicily! small world.

Had the same problem and found trawling all the answers a pain. Here's my understanding:
1) You can access all your Google Bookmarks by clicking here: https://www.google.com/bookmarks/l and then bookmarking that page by clicking the start at RHS of address bar. Use CTRL-SHIFT-B to show a button to your bookmarks page
2) But!... you can't add new pages to your bookmarks, to do this, you need to install a Chrome plugin: click here: https://chrome.google.com/extensions/detail/jdnejaepfmacfdmhkplckpfdcjgbeode (YAGBE - Yet another Google Bookmarks Extension"). This adds a new Star button in blue at RHS of address bar, to add to your Google Bookmarks.

Step 2 works! Like everyone else, I find it astonishing that it is so difficult to import the Google Bookmarks created in IE...

Get Easy Access to Your Google Bookmarks in Chrome:
Want an easy way to access, add to, and manage your Google Bookmarks account in Chrome? Try These Google Chrome Extensions. Both are good because they allow you to create sub-labels (label tree).

At the end of the address bar, there is a star. Click on this and it will automatically save that to your bookmarks. just discovered that.Hope it helps. Chrome is taking some getting used to. Firefox bottomed out and had to get another browser. Chrome is it. just have to get used to it.

You can recall any of your Google Bookmarks with a keyword search in the address box. You need to add Google Bookmarks to your list of search engines. Screenshots and complete directions at <http://metaed.blogspot.com/2008/12/using-google-bookmarks-in-google-chrome.html>.

on the top right hand corner, under the address bar on the right hand side theres an icon saying "Other Bookmarks" otherwise u can also click the tools button under the cross on the right hand corner and click "bookmark manager"
|Re: Where do I find my google bookmarks in google chrome||Burgundy||12/14/08 12:43 PM|
You can press Ctrl+B to turn on/off 'always show [your] bookmarks bar'.
You can press Ctrl+Shift+B to show the 'bookmark manager' (which is a window that shows ALL your bookmarks, imported and otherwise).
PS: You can find these options by clicking on the wrench at the top-right of the browser window and reading the menu that appears. They are the 4th and 6th options.

I still not understand how to have one simple Google Bookmark button like in IE Google Toolbar.
With that button you can simply add your present site to your Google Bookmarks.
|Re: Where do I find my google bookmarks in google chrome||com2bhai||12/16/08 6:09 AM|
Yes Jan Kratochvíl , you r right, we want the same as we could do in google toolbar for ie/mf . by which we can directly add bookmarks to our google bookmark account. not in a browser.
there is a option called "Google Bookmark" by which we can add the bookmark to google bookmark account, but its not so user friendly when we try access those bookmark through "Google Bookmark"
|Re: Where do I find my google bookmarks in google chrome||com2bhai||12/16/08 6:34 AM|
we can bookmark blank tab... is it ok...???
|Re: Where do I find my google bookmarks in google chrome||MetaEd||12/16/08 7:01 AM|
@Jan The instructions in the article I posted earlier explain how to search your Google Bookmarks from the address bar, but they also explain how to add the button you want. I apologize for not making that clear before. If you follow the instructions you will be able to add the present site to Google Bookmarks with one click.
|Re: Where do I find my google bookmarks in google chrome||ThatSQLGuy||3/9/09 12:44 PM|
I believe I also have the issue that 'davemt21' reported. Here is how I would explain it:
In Internet Explorer I have installed the Google Toolbar. I've created many many bookmarks that when signed into my Google account show up by pressing the Bookmark button. They are already nicely grouped under the labels that I've chosen. When I installed Google Chrome it did import my "Favorites" from Internet Explorer, but it did not import my "Bookmarks" from the Google toolbar. How do I access the bookmarks from Google Chrome. I even setup my start page to be my iGoogle home page, thinking you needed to start that before Google Chrome knew to include those bookmarks. Why aren't these bookmarks just available when you sign in?
Someone please post the steps required to enable the Google Bookmarks from the Google Toolbar into my Google Chrome. Please don't tell me that I have to manually add them all.
Because if have to do that, I'll continue to use IE w/ Google Toolbar.
Do you have a link with the steps?
|Re: Where do I find my google bookmarks in google chrome||ThatSQLGuy||3/9/09 12:58 PM|
Alright, I figured it out. This is a terrible way to do this, but here are the steps.
1. Load IE
2. Sign in to Google Toolbar if you haven't already.
3. Click on the bookmark button on the Google Toolbar and choose "Manage All"
This will open up a web page to manage all the bookmarks.
4. Now at the bottom of the page is a link titled Export to "My Computer"
5. Save the file on your pc in a folder that you can find.
6. Run Google Chrome.
7. Load BookMark Manager by pressing Ctrl + Shift + B
8. Now from the tools menu choose Import Bookmarks
9. Browse to the file you saved in step 5 choose the file and press "Open"
10. All of the bookmarks will now be imported into a sub folder called "Imported"
11. Now spend another 1/2 hour or more moving the bookmarks to where you want them.
Absolutely unacceptable, but for those that want to do it, that is the complete steps.
|Re: Where do I find my google bookmarks in google chrome||mannrj3||5/8/09 2:57 PM|
I find it impossible to believe that Google really could create a browser and go to all this trouble and make it SO HARD and SO UNPLEASANT to switch to this browser for users that depend heavily on their existing Google toolbar. I want to ask the Tim.Charnley question again. Am I right in thinking that the ridiculous Rube Goldberg wire-around he describes is the only way to switch easily from Firefox/Explorer (which integrate so easily with Google) to Chrome (which seems willfully designed to punish those who previously have used Google)???
|Re: Where do I find my google bookmarks in google chrome||com2bhai||5/8/09 11:17 PM|
as in google toolbar bookmark button if google give the same feature in the existing bookmark button on chrome with option online and local bookmark then our love chrome will be double .

|Re: Where do I find my google bookmarks in google chrome||schnell0215||5/6/10 9:57 PM|
My husband recommended I use this browser because I have been having so many problems with IE. I totally regret it. This browser is terrible. There's no way to get to your favorites easily, and let's face it, most of us use our favorites folders on a regular basis. That's why they're called favorites. Google should really think about this in their next version. I'm so surprised they didn't think of when they developed it.
|Re: Where do I find my google bookmarks in google chrome||MetaEd||5/6/10 10:18 PM|
Press Ctrl-B to display your favorites at the top of the window (the Bookmarks bar). You can organize your favorites in folders or just have them right on the Bookmarks bar for access with one click.
|Re: Where do I find my google bookmarks in google chrome||Burgundy||5/7/10 10:30 AM|
@schnell0215: It's very easy to get to your bookmarks in Chrome.
"You can press Ctrl+B to turn on/off 'always show [your] bookmarks bar'.
You can press Ctrl+Shift+B to show the 'bookmark manager' (which is a window that shows ALL your bookmarks, imported and otherwise).
PS: You can find these options by clicking on the wrench at the top-right of the browser window and reading the menu that appears. They are the 4th and 6th* options."
You can arrange your bookmarks into folders very easily, and if you want a group of bookmarks easily accessible, just put them in a folder, and put that folder in 'Bookmarks bar.'
|Re: Where do I find my google bookmarks in google chrome||Burgundy||5/7/10 10:37 AM|
Also, if you just start typing the name of the bookmark in the URL bar, it will appear before you are done.
|Re: Where do I find my google bookmarks in google chrome||tanirae||10/20/10 4:59 PM|
I had a star on my extensions bar and lost it. I tried to follow the import instructions from Tim above but in windows 7 chrome i dont have a tools button once i am in bookmark manager. There is a tools option under the wrench but no import option under it. Besides, the icon I want is the star that i could click when on a website and it would let me remember the site and add any number of tab labels to it. I found the list I created in google bookmrks, but when i go to bookmark manager or the star in the browser address bar all i have is the old clumsy lists I exported from explorer where all things were in file folders. I can access my tab list by putting google bookmarks on my bookmark bar, but that takes me to that website to look at them. it does not let me remember the site i am on in the tab format. what am i missing? Did the extension with the star go away?
|Re: Where do I find my google bookmarks in google chrome||virtualgab||1/19/11 3:57 AM|
DIL has the simplest and most workable answer: "You can also place a bookmark to this link in your Chrome bookmark bar. <http://www.google.com/bookmarks/lookup?sort=label>". When you open up this page (and if you're logged in), all your Google bookmarks will appear. It's not in the same drop-down list format that you get in IE or FF, but it works OK.
