How to enable the aero tab preview for Chrome? skywalker993 5/11/10 9:25 PM
Chrome version: 5.0.375.38
I would really like to be able to preview each tab in the taskbar, but it only works for Internet Explorer. How do I enable it for Chrome? I read something about running Chrome with "--enable-aero-peek-tabs command line" but I can't figure out where to do this. Please help me out.

You need to right click on your shortcut and at it to the end of the location
........\chrome.exe --enable-aero-peek-tabs

Add --enable-aero-peek-tabs at the end.

What is the minimum version for which --enable-aero-peek-tabs works?

The beta and dev versions as of today's date.

Step #1:
Right click on the shortcut on the desktop> Properties

Step #2:
on "Target" at the end press space and past this :"--enable-aero-peek-tabs"

Step #3:
Apply and have fun. :)

You need to be on the beta or the dev edition for this to work.

Same question here, is it possible for the tabs to preview when you hover your mouse over the thumbnail?
Or, will it be possible eventually?

Yes it is possible but you need to add the item above "--enable-aero-peek-tabs"  to the program shortcut and it only works in beta and dev and in Windows 7.

@webshitai webshitai has the best answer. It doesn't fully work. IT when you hover over the Google Chrome icon on the taskbar, it will popup images for all open tabs, but only the active tab will display. The other tabs will show as blank white pages in their respective popups.

I'm running the beta 6.0.475.51 and I've tried the --enable-aero-peek-tabs that was mentioned, but it is still not working? Any ideas of why or if I can try something else?

I'm using 6.0.472.53 (stable version), and it's working with -enable-aero-peek-tabs (only one leading hyphen, not two)

Do you have to restart the browser, or the entire machine, for it to implement?

Because you are changing the shortcut to start Google Chrome, then it will take effect the next time you start Google Chrome with that shortcut.
I didn't have to restart the machine.
