Chrome does not have addons. The browser is built around functionality and simplicity.

go to this site
now, be sure to read all the way to the bottom as the easiest way to do it comes there. I have added these to Chrome bookmarks but have not had occasion to perform the task as of yet

I draged the links to the bookmarks and tested it ..... it works fine Thanks a lot !
Only have to rename the file and add the extension .flv .
Didn't change the icons of the new bookmarks , but i will .

That method no longer works, not surprising given it's over a year old, but somehow it's still one of the top results on google.
Google owns youtube, and youtube doesn't want people downloading their videos. There was a google chrome extension for downloading videos, and i've got it installed, but every effort i've made to make it distributable has failed. Even using developer mode, you only get to use it for that session, once you close chrome you loose it again.

If you can access it, could you possibly upload the code to userscripts.org? The site has thousands of scripts that work with Greasemonkey in FF, Chrome, Opera and numerous other browsers.
I have an extension called "Download YouTube Videos as MP4", which works well--and, unfortunately, only for YT, but it's something. I haven't run into any issues yet, but as with anything, install at your own risk. http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/25105
I eagerly await a script/extension with the capabilities of Video DownloadHelper in Chrome.

Try this http://jdownloader.org/
It has a clipboard watcher, so any file link that you find on Chrome and copy will be ultimately downloaded. Works on YT videos and even on file sharing sites like Rapidshare. Files are downloaded at accelerated speeds and are automatically unzipped if you choose to.
Give it a try at the link above.

There actually is!
Install Free Download Manager (FDM) (which is a program, not an extension), and Download Helper (which is an extension). Download Helper will reside in your right click menu ("Download all links with FDM") and call on FDM to do the actual downloading. Also, you can use filters or manual selection to select only the files you want to download.
For big files or a big number of files, this is great, since FDM lets you customize bandwidth usage, so if you're on a slow connection or downloading slows internet for other users on the same network, you can choose to download a little (or a lot) slower. Also, since it's a seperate program, it'll stay running when you shut down Chrome. And finally, you can pause the download if you want.
I found the Download Helper plugin was graphically a bit more user-friendly, but this works perfect, so no complaints from me.
Hope this helped!

There is a better way.Stop using chrome, because their logic not including Video downloaders, while they allowed Youtube downloaders it's plain stupid.Helloooo! There is Mozilla with several downloaders supporting multitude of sites and IE with Ant video downloader.Saddly to having this attitude, cuz i like Chrome, but we have the last say.If somebody can't read our needs we must teach them a lesson by simply turning our backs! This is the last time i enter Chrome.Bye!

Or instead you could've googled "chrome flash video download extension" or something similar, and come up with a nice list of chrome extensions.
Of course Chrome doesn't add every single functionality mankind has ever come up with, that'd slow the computer down big time with stuff 99.9% of all users would never use. Besides, none of the big browsers support stuff like flash video downloading out-of-the-box, and if you want to add some functionality to Chrome, chances are someone's written an extension for it, or you can write it yourself.
