Integrate a Download Manager into Chrome Browser????? NeerajJoshi 1/10/09 4:19 AM
I m using Internet Download Manager for managing my downloads.

I want to integrate it with Google Chrome so as to speed up my downloads. Is there any Plugin available??
Re: Integrate a Download Manager into Chrome Browser????? Critesjm 1/10/09 8:22 AM
NO PLUGINS ARE AVAILABLE YET GRAWR RAWR URG.

The default/only download manager can be accessed via ctrl+j.
Re: Integrate a Download Manager into Chrome Browser????? ryancrawcour 1/14/09 12:25 AM
yeah accept the default dl mngr sucks! you gotta keep the darn browser open whilst downloads run in the background. closing the browser cancels the download without any warning or anything! no way to resume the download either! it stinks!

Re: Integrate a Download Manager into Chrome Browser????? holypanl 1/21/09 12:08 PM
I use IDM, too, and I have no problem whatsoever handling downloads from Google Chrome. Actually, IDM found Chrome by itself, and added it to my List of programs from which to take over downloads.

There are two reasons why you would be saying that you're having problems with chrome working with IDM.

1)You are using a version of IDM that's way outdated, and I'm talking about something like...before IDM v4.x; Go and update the program. The current version is 5.15build5.

2)You don't understand how IDM works, and have fooled yourself into thinking that IDM accelerates page-display speed in your browser. No download Manager program currently out doe this. Not Free Download Manager, Download Accelerator Plus, IDM, or any other. They TAKE OVER downloads from your browser, and carry them out in the accelerator program's interface; They don't help the browser along.

Either way, if you're using a new version of IDM, you wouldn't have this problem.
Re: Integrate a Download Manager into Chrome Browser????? eltoze 1/23/09 4:53 AM
holypanl, do you really believe that anyone would be stupid enough to think that a download manager accelerates the page-display...pff

Re: Integrate a Download Manager into Chrome Browser????? honeyB 5/23/09 11:18 PM
It's always good do have a download manager integrated into a browser. It's almost a necessary condition for a browser nowadays. Will the google chrome team heed to my request?
Re: Integrate a Download Manager into Chrome Browser????? dancarrero 9/23/09 3:36 PM
I have found that Flashget can be several times faster than the built in downloader.I'm having to copy paste the url into Firefox to use Flashget because of the speed difference.I found this to be very surprising since in my short experience with Chrome I have found it to be twice and even 3 times faster when browsing than Firefox or IE.
Re: Integrate a Download Manager into Chrome Browser????? Bapabooiee 9/23/09 3:55 PM
You could always try-out ChromePlus: http://www.chromeplus.org/

I think it has Download Manager intergration - check the feature list on the website :]
Re: Integrate a Download Manager into Chrome Browser????? QQFarmer 9/23/09 4:11 PM

im using IDM 5.18........ptobably the latest version, but still its not working with crome.
even if the option in the setting of IDM is checked for "integrate IDM into browser : google chrome"......still it wont work.
Re: Integrate a Download Manager into Chrome Browser????? Sylphier 5/2/10 8:09 PM
I'd recommend AGAINST integrating IDM with Chrome. As seen here: http://www.google.com/support/forum/p/Chrome/thread?tid=6d85615617441e54&hl=en
Chrome is having some problems with IDM that will cause it to CRASH.
Re: Integrate a Download Manager into Chrome Browser????? Schnibble 5/8/10 7:30 AM
Here is a build of chromium with full support of Free Download Manager: http://schnibble.tk
Setup: Disable the item "Always use internal download manager" (Options-> Advanced-> Downloads)
Catches everything that comes in a standard manager, including Rapidshare, DepositFiles, etc (exception - files less than 512kb will download using standard manager - it's more convenient).

Re: Integrate a Download Manager into Chrome Browser????? sfuller 5/28/10 10:49 AM
IBM has just released 5.18 Build 3.  Not only did it fix my Windows 7 issue with advanced browser intregration (hangs), Chrome no longer crashes (except the 1st launch after updating IDM), and IDM is handling  downloads with no issue.
Re: Integrate a Download Manager into Chrome Browser????? sfuller 5/28/10 2:37 PM
Looks like I spoke too soon.  It worked for a day and then Chrome started crashing like before.  I tried Chrome 5 & 6.
Re: Integrate a Download Manager into Chrome Browser????? Schnibble 5/30/10 1:12 PM
IDM certainly has the most powerful method of intercepting downloads. But there is too many disadvantages
- in addition to instability, enhanced integration is achieved by implantation a tracking module into ALL running applications in the system... that is not good
- it seems that method doesn't correctly handle of downloads with redirect-links (for example depositfiles.com)
- IDM can't resume files in RAW format (for example, initiated by IE)

By the way, the link to latest stable build of chrome using FDM as download manager: http://schnibble.tk/schnibble_chrome_latest.exe

Open IDM --> Option
On tab General check on 2 box: Intergrate with Google Chrome
Re: Integrate a Download Manager into Chrome Browser????? Blair (Googler) 6/10/10 5:29 PM
Hey, could someone else verify that there is a check box in IDM entitled "Integrate with Google Chrome"?

Thanks,

Re: Integrate a Download Manager into Chrome Browser????? vowelowl 8/10/10 4:24 AM
Because I use Hughes Satillite, I need to schedule my downloads for 2AM to 7AM.  Hughes has a version of Free Download Manager [a very good download manager].  I am not able to get it to work at all.

If anyone has suggestions, please reply.
Re: Integrate a Download Manager into Chrome Browser????? BryanChung 8/27/10 9:10 PM
The latest IDM 6.01 (beta 5) is finally not crashing with Chrome. However I am unable to integrate it with Chrome. I have ticked the option. But still when I try download something from Chrome, IDM doesn't capture it. Anyone knows why?
Re: Integrate a Download Manager into Chrome Browser????? QQFarmer 8/28/10 12:32 PM
@BryanChung, have you initiated Advanced Browser integration in the settings?
Re: Integrate a Download Manager into Chrome Browser????? sfuller 8/28/10 8:19 PM
I had to click on add browser in IDM and point to the chrome executable.  After taht it's working great.
Re: Integrate a Download Manager into Chrome Browser????? BryanChung 8/28/10 8:42 PM
@QQFarmer, I'm very sure I did. http://i35.tinypic.com/kewuti.jpg

Has it anything to do with my Chrome being (like) messed up? Because although my Chrome shows 7.0.503.0, it has "beta" next to it but not "dev". I understand that this happened because I once installed dev, uninstalled it and install beta and I probably did not do it correct? I'm just guessing but I hope that's not the case.

Re: Integrate a Download Manager into Chrome Browser????? fwupow 10/13/10 7:25 AM
Here's the EASY solution which applies currently on Oct 13, 2010.  It's important to realize that solutions posted months ago, often stop working on more recent versions of Google Chrome.

Download and install Free Download Manager.

Nevermind FDM's browser integration settings because, although it claims to support Chrome integration, this function is not working.

Go to Chrome/Tools/Extensions and download and install the "DM-Bridge" extension (https://chrome.google.com/extensions/detail/lfjamigppmepikjlacjdpgjaiojdjhoj?hl=en). This extension will provide access to most any Download Manager via the Right-click Context Menu.
Re: Integrate a Download Manager into Chrome Browser????? CuDan 11/15/10 6:35 PM
fwupow this is not working properly, 4 times out of 10 it works. Other times it doesn't

Common googlers, ad some  option to integrate  Dl managers/accelerators
Re: Integrate a Download Manager into Chrome Browser????? CuDan 11/16/10 4:11 AM
*tested Download Accelerator Plus (DAP) 9.5 and it automatically integrates in my chrome (and  every other browser I'm using), I am still optimizing it but as download speed it's near to FDM

Update to the latest IDM 6 version available from their site (currently 6.03 Beta).

This should fix Chrome integration problems.

4:Get more extensions
5: Download and install Download assistant
6: Go back to extensions
7: You will see download assistant clip options
8: Slect IDM
9: Save & close
Re: Integrate a Download Manager into Chrome Browser????? Mak 7/14/11 7:26 PM
The intent was to have a download manager BUILT-IN Chrome, not just an way of clicking on Chrome and sending it to another program... I wonder why no one has ever done this yet.

Re: Integrate a Download Manager into Chrome Browser????? Peculiar009 9/9/11 8:14 AM
This is NOT what is being asked. Stop repeating this idiotic set of instructions. The question is: like "DownThemAll" in Firefox, is there something WITHIN Chrome. Understand this question and respond only if you have something useful to contribute.
Re: Integrate a Download Manager into Chrome Browser????? Gustidroid 9/13/11 11:58 PM
using Downloader. download the Downloader from chrome market.
Re: Integrate a Download Manager into Chrome Browser????? QQFarmer 9/15/11 2:25 PM
@Peculiar009, you could at least be polite to a fellow user who is trying to be helpful. You are not the OP. What are you whining about? If you don't have anything better to offer, just shut up.

Use "Downloaders" from the chrome store

I'm not getting Orbit downloader to integrate with Google Chrome by any means within my [admittedly limited] skill set. That is, it isn't integrating by itself and the proposed solutions I'm seeing are just plain over my head.
Re: Integrate a Download Manager into Chrome Browser????? StichtingSALEK 3/7/12 8:19 AM
Yes, as Smoothtalk said, when you use your own Downloader Like Free Download Manager or others, get Downloaders and pick the one you want to integrate.
