|Cannot make Chrome my default browser in XP||Master619||4/16/09 7:27 AM|
I'm using XP SP3, and downloaded the newest version of Google Chrome (220.127.116.11 in the About box). Previously I was using Firefox 3 as my default browser, and now I have no way to make Chrome my default one. I tried the "Default browser" option in the Options menu of Chrome, tried the "Custom" setting in Control Panel -> Add or remove programs -> Set programs access and default, and nothing worked. I'm using Yahoo! Messenger and anytime I click a link from it, or open my mail box, or my Y!360 blog, it always opens in Firefox 3. Any ideas?

Wow, you seemed to have covered all bases. This might be a too simple answer, but why not try the usual 'cure' for windows. Reboot your computer.

I also tried that of course, and it didn't work. However thanks for your answer. Any other ideas?

If you found the answer already, please let me know! I know there is another section in windows, because I successfully changed to Google chrome once and I had it like that till a few days ago when I re-installed an AOL version of IE for some Winamp functionality and than IE (MOTHER FUCKER) at the installation asked if I'd like to make it my default browser, of course I declined the request and of course the fucking developers of the program don't give a shit what you want.
Just like toolbars, every-time I don't accept to install it as part of a program package, they pop on my browser anyways (thank G-D chrome doesn't use toolbars)!!!
Now after it made its self the default browser I can't seem to change it back!
I am EXTREMELY pissed-off and I hate Microsoft!!!
PLEASE someone help! I don't remember how to get to the correct configurations I got to last time.
I tried everything Master619 said he did and it still won't change.
