How to remedy the "The server's security certificate is not yet valid!" message tim.ake 2/17/09 10:16 AM
I have seen entries about this problem, all referring to the system time and date being wrong. My system date and time are correct, and I am receiving this message when in Chrome and in IE7 when attempting to browse sites with SSL. Any thoughts?

i have the same problem. it happens for google sites, as well as hotmail and facebook etc. microsoft suggests you can remedy this on internet explorer as follows:

Start Internet Explorer.
On the Tools menu, click Internet Options.
On the Advanced tab, in the Security section, make sure that the Check for server certificate revocation check box is cleared. Also, make sure that the Use SSL 2.0 and the Use SSL 3.0 check boxes are selected.
Click OK.

My system date and time was incorrect. Feb 2002? Don't think so. its 2009. Must be issues with my computer bios. No wonder my system is having so many issues booting.

Found a great thread on the Ask Dave Taylor site. It's a pretty extended discussion about this problem. Check it out. It might help.

it's not a date/time problem, it's a Chrome problem, which Google is unwilling to hire some genuine coders to fix. See link below for a screenshot of a Facebook (yes) "untrusted certificate", then tell me the Chrome outsourced intern coders aren't retarded.

this is not a chrome problem since i get the same error with firefox. the problem was fixed when i updated the time and date, but i don't know why that should fix it.  a website's certificate validity shouldn't depend on your computer's date and time!  so it's still a bug in my opinion. At least provide an error message that tells us better what the problem is so we can fix it, like "your date and time is not current."

System date and time is likely to be incorrect, however a route cause of this, and many other problems with booting is often an empty CMOS battery causing settings to be reset to factory. This can be replaced for about 2-3 pounds 3-4 dollars and is normally a 5 min job.

It does not have any thing to do with the date and time.

I want my date and time settings to be set wrongly for a couple of reasons. How can I avoid this problem without resetting date and time to the current time?
Re: How to remedy the "The server's security certificate is not yet valid!" message zencuke2 5/6/12 9:41 AM
My time and date settings are correct. Both the time zone and the time are correct. I verified both against my iPhone. What do I do now? Firefox failed first several days ago. I did a full delete and reinstall and that didn't fix anything. I installed chrome and it worked for two days and about an hour ago I started having security problems in chrome from all google.com servers, i.e. for searching, accounts.google.com etc. safari detects the error but it allows me to override which is the only reason I am able to post here.

I am only having problems with google servers. For example I have no problems with amazon.com.

I'm getting desperate.  I am heavily into google. Google handles much of my personal domain. I use gmail google+, google docs, google app engine etc. etc. I have no clue how to debug this and fifty gazillion posts saying "fix the system time" are not helping. The vague error messages from recent chrome and firefox versions (users are obviously too stupid to understand the technical details so why tell them anything at all) are not helping. Do I have to go to the security RFC's or the browser source code to figure out what is going on? These forums only seem capable of helping with the most common errors.

I did the same. But I'm ashamed to say I overlooked the year. It was set to 2011. Changed it and worked like a charm. Hope it helps.

This is still a problem. I started an old computer that hadn't been used in a year. I updated the date by synchronizing with time.windows.com and was able to open google.com. When i tried to login to my email, however, it gave me the error again and synchronizing the time did not correct it. I was FINALLY able to get in incognito mode. No idea why that worked, but really happy that I was able to upload artwork from the old computer to make sure I didn't lose it...
