Missing plug in gibkelowna 2/11/09 11:53 AM
In Getting Started  View Features I get the message Required plug in not installed.   What is this and where do I find it?2009-02-12

Thanks Simon.   When I select the Getting Started page then select View Allk Featurews, which ever feature I select I get a Yellow square with "Required plug in is not installed".  I have Flash player installed.

Re: Missing plug in Simon D. Internets 2/11/09 2:38 PM
Hi gibkelowna,

I'm not sure exactly where you're seeing this message, but it often appears if you try to load a video and you don't have Flash installed. I've included two links below for you. One is the Adobe download page to get Flash. The other is a Help forum thread that'll help you if you get stuck in the Flash installation.

Re: Missing plug in WaveF 8/8/10 7:33 AM
Chrome always show "Missing plug-in" when I load some flash video embeded in some web page, I must reload that page several times then it might work correctly.
I am quite sure that I have the lastest version of flash player installed, and IE, Firefox, Opera works perfectly on loading this page.
In face, I meet this "Missing plug-in" message on chrome v4, v5, v6, I just keep seeing this, that quite boring me, hope this will be fixed soon.
Re: Missing plug in tyhaley7 9/27/10 9:26 PM
I also get this error, it has come up multiple times in the last week.  I thought it had something to do with not having the latest version of adobe or chrome installed, but everything is up to date and I am still getting the error "Missing Plug-in"
Re: Missing plug in Miguinbip 12/6/10 1:31 PM
I was having problem with the Shockwave i need to play games, then i kept installing it several times, until i remember i disabled it a  while ago, then i just have to enable again.

You can find this on chrome options, then go advanced tab, content settings, then click addons, there should be a link to display this option: enable/disable addons (or something like that)

There you can manage some addons.

Not sure if it helps, but hope you find your solution
Re: Missing plug in BLZRULZ 12/20/10 5:26 AM
Yeah I get this prob a lot....thought it was time for a new laptop....if it is Google based they need to jump to it and get er done.....I've reinstalled Adobe like 6x's. So already restarted but tried this before resuming Mafia Wars......
Re: Missing plug in BLZRULZ 12/20/10 5:27 AM
GLAD TO SAY I'M GOOD.....BUT GOOGLE PLEASE FIX THIS PROBLEM......KIND OF FRUSTRATING.  THANKS
Re: Missing plug in Toni (Googler) 12/20/10 5:39 PM
Hey guys,

Thanks for reporting this. To help us understand what might be going on, please provide the following information:

1. Your Google Chrome version (go to wrench menu -> About Google Chrome)

2. Does this issue happen in Firefox? We suggest trying Firefox because it uses the same type of Flash player that Google Chrome does.

3. Are you using our integrated Adobe Flash player? This should be enabled by default in Chrome 5.0 and higher if you haven't made any changes to your plug-in settings. Type about:plugins in your address bar, and find the "Flash" listing. Click on the 'Details' link in the top right. If you've previously installed Adobe Flash separately, you'll see two files listed.

4. Check to make sure you aren't blocking plug-ins by going to the Wrench menu -> Options -> Under the Hood -> Content Settings (under the Privacy section).

5. What sites are you experiencing this "missing plug-in" error in? If you're receiving this error while playing games in Facebook, please provide details on what games, etc.

Toni

Re: Missing plug in woodkath 12/21/10 5:41 AM
I am having the same problem!  8.0.552.224  It has been happening for awhile.  I reboot and maybe 2 days later it will work again.  Today I can open frontierville but not the inventory or the missions.  Cityville won't load pass 69%.  Any ideas??
Re: Missing plug in gaumi 12/21/10 4:58 PM
Hi all,

My Chrome is 8.0.552.224 (up to date). I'm having the same problem. I tried to go to adobe to install flash player but adobe said flash player was already integrated with Chrome, no need to install anything else. "Missing plugin" message appears even on youtube.

Then I figure out the problem on my computer (not sure if it's the same for all of you). Chrome CANNOT open more than 1 tab (or window) that needs flash player at the same time.
- I opened youtube, play a video, it works well.
- I open another tab (or another Chrome window), navigate any site that contains flash --> "missing plugin".
- I close the 1st tab (youtube in this case), refresh the 2nd tab, now it works.

Hope this helps, and Google will fix it ASAP.
Re: Missing plug in Rick-KLN 12/25/10 2:27 PM
I also found this on my dad's pc.

I figured it out though :
Any combination of tabs and windows worked.
Gmail plus lots of tabs worked.

But when Gmail is open, then flash stops working (on youtube and all sites) in all the Other Windows.

Hope this helps and Google fixes it soon. (Think the web apps thing might have caused this.)
Chrome still rocks !
Re: Missing plug in Rick-KLN 12/27/10 11:37 AM
Also we have the latest version of chrome, flash and windows 7 installed.

Re: Missing plug in minkowind 12/30/10 8:14 AM
I got this problem too and found here for solution.  Eventually, I solved the "missing plug-in" problem using the following steps.

1. Go to "about:plugins".
2. Find the "Flash" (Shockwave Flash) plugin.
3. Click the "Disable" link.
4. Press Shift-Esc to open the Google Chrome Task Manager.
5. Find and select the "Plug-in: Shockwave Flash" in the Google Chrome Task Manager.
6. Click "End process" button in the Google Chrome Task Manager.
7. Close the Google Chrome Task Manager.
8. Click the "Enable" link of the "Flash" plugin in the plug in page.
9. Refresh the URL you used to view the flash video.
10. You should see the video now.

Hope this help.
Re: Missing plug in cje_stcloudmn 12/30/10 9:39 PM
@minkowind - Didn't work.
@Toni: I'm having the same problem. Re: your items: 1) 9.0.597.19 (I have uninstalled and tried a more stable version, no diff. I have this back in, now). 2) Firefox, Opera, work fine with Flash content. 3&4) I see two .dlls under flash plugins, 1 in a chrome folder path gcswf32.dll (integrated, I assume), and in a marcomed path, NPSWF32.dll. I have tried one, the other, both enabled and as a result, I CANNOT open a page with Flash content. Including gmail. (sad that I have to use Opera to read my gmail). If I disable both, I can open pages where the Flash is just part of a splash, or something, on the page (e.g., hiway.org).

OS is Win XP SP3
I hope you can help, you seem to be asking questions that are to the point.
Re: Missing plug in solum13 12/31/10 10:22 AM
@minkowind
Thanks! It worked for me.
(Chrome 8.0.552.224 on Windows 7 64bit)
Re: Missing plug in Adamsky 1/3/11 8:30 AM
@gaumi -Thanks, thats seems to be to solution.
Re: Missing plug in kevinjmorse 1/3/11 3:28 PM
Also running 8.0.552.224 on Windows 7 64 bit

I have two different versions of Flash showing in about:plugins

Shockwave Flash 10.1 r103
Version:        10,1,103,20
Priority:        2
Location:        C:\Program Files (x86)\Google\Chrome\Application\8.0.552.224\gcswf32.dll

and

Shockwave Flash 10.1 r102
Version:        10,1,102,64
Priority:        12
Location:        C:\Windows\SysWOW64\Macromed\Flash\NPSWF32.dll

Regardless of what is enabled I always receive the Missing Plug-in message in Chrome and cannot get any Flash to work in Firefox. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for your tip, and it did work for me!

Google Please FIX THIS asap!!
Re: Missing plug in m008 1/5/11 8:52 PM
@GAUMI -

Well, they haven't fixed it yet.

My YouTube in Firefox is working; it's not working at all in Chrome.
Re: Missing plug in okkadiroglu 1/7/11 5:19 AM
I am having a similar problem with the plugins. I use the most recent GC with Ubuntu10.04LTS on a AMD64 computer. When I open an web page, like nfl.com, with Firefox I get all the videos working but with GC I only get black frames in the place of the videos. I tried all the available Adobe Flash plugins. 32bit, 64bit beta, nothing changes. I tried minkowind solution but it did not worked. I did not have this problem before I had to reinstall my OS due to a disk problem. I am missing something but what? By the way is there a way to test plugins by playing various video formats from a web site?

Many thanks for the help.
Re: Missing plug in sour_lemon_1k 1/8/11 3:04 PM
i am having the same problem!  windows 7 64 bit
Re: Missing plug in smbyers 1/8/11 7:12 PM
I have tried everything.  I have to run youtube in the IE tab addon in Chrome to view flash videos.  No idea what is wrong and have tried so many combinations.

Version:  9.0.597.45
Re: Missing plug in smbyers 1/8/11 7:24 PM
UPDATE:  I resolved the problem - at least in my case.

1.  about:plugins in the address bar
2.  Click on the "+ Details" at the top right
3.  When I scroll down a bit I see "Flash (2 files) Version: 10.1.102.64" and "Shockwave Flash 10.1 r102" on the next line
4.  It shows both files for flash and a Disable link beside each (one is in c:\documents and settings... and the other is in c:\windows\system...)
5.  I disabled the one that was bundled with Chrome (in c:\documents and settings) and left the other enabled.

It now works.  Unfortunately, it looks like the one bundled with Chrome does not work but the system level install does and that's what I have to make Chrome use.  Must be a conflict with the two plug-ins or something.  When I tried just to use the one bundled in Chrome (the one in c:\documents and settings\...) it still didn't work.

Hope this helps someone as I've been struggling with this problem for a while now.
Re: Missing plug in tehek 1/18/11 4:40 AM
Just turn off Adblock on youtube, this will help in my case if not try to turn off :
"\Users\XXXX\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\Application\7.0.503.0\gcswf32.dll"
and then turn off adblock.

Regards
Re: Missing plug in exile 666 1/18/11 11:45 PM
i have the newest version of google chrome and flash and just today it started saying missing plugin when i try to watch flash videos...
Re: Missing plug in pianoman384 1/19/11 8:02 AM
@smbyers you solved the problem!

I read that the new flash player version doesn't work with the one bundled with Chrome!

Thank you very much!
Re: Missing plug in reshaw 1/20/11 6:49 AM
Someone already put this above so i'm not trying to claim the credit but it appears that gmail is causing the problem, I closed all other chrome windows and then reloaded the page with the missing plugin message (www.kongregate.com) and the flash started downloading straight away.
Re: Missing plug in enash8 1/21/11 11:45 AM
I've had the same problem several times. For me, chrome just needs to be updated. The wrench in the top right corner should have an orange dot next to it or something, click on that then on the pull down menu "Update Google Chrome" will have an orange exclamation point next to it. Click on that and it will restart chrome then open the same tabs you had up. Works for me.
Re: Missing plug in majalee 3/16/11 5:11 AM
Google Chrome version : 10.0.648.134, OS : Ubuntu 9.10. My synaptic package manager says that adobe flash player has been installed. But Google chrome does display this plugin. When i go to about:plugins, it does not show flashplayer plugin being installed. facing problem with www.ndtv.com, www.nytimes.com etc.
Re: Missing plug in Tashaharris 3/28/11 7:22 AM
@mindkowind   where is ABOUT PLUGINS?
Re: Missing plug in frostybeard 4/17/11 3:32 AM
I have Ubuntu 10.10 running on a Panda Board (OMAP4). The Chromium version here doesn't appear to have the Flash plugin at all. So I can't enable it from the about:plugins menu.
Re: Missing plug in carmisoraus 5/16/11 2:46 AM
@minkowind  where do you find "about:plugins"
cause i have googled and everything i cant find it
Re: Missing plug in jmilloy 5/19/11 2:26 PM
@carmisoraus type about:plugins into the address bar.

I, too, don't see flash listed as a plugin in about:plugins. How can we add it if it isn't there?

Ubuntu 11.04 64 bit, chrome 11.0.696.68
Re: Missing plug in EmilyJaneA 5/20/11 7:02 AM
I have exactly the same problem: chrome 11.0.696.68 and ubuntu 11.04, flash player not found, and doesn't appear in the plugin list.
Re: Missing plug in EmilyJaneA 5/20/11 7:33 AM
I just installed the flash plugin for mozilla, and now the it's working in chrome as well.  Hope that helps
Re: Missing plug in tech-dude 5/23/11 4:06 PM
I have been trying for several days to get flash working in Chrome.  Flash was working on you tube, but nowhere else, especially Facebook Farmtown.  Following some of the instructions here, I found one instance of flash listed using Gnash and a 64 bit beta version of Adobe.  I disabled that instance and reinstalled Adobe flash player using Yum.  After that, flash player is gone from Chrome.  There are no listings in about:plugins, all flash windows display missing plugin, attempts to reinstall flash player result in "nothing to do, Flash installed and latest version".  Flash Player is working great in Firefox 4 in response to a remark above.

I have uninstalled Chrome, deleted all the configuration files I can find, caches labeled Chrome and the Chrome folder in Mozilla.  I have managed to lose all of my saved passwords, bookmarks, and extensions.  Flash Player still not available.

Can anyone tell me where the settings for the built in Flash Player are?   Adding --enable-internal-flash to the start icon command line has no effect.
Re: Missing plug in tech-dude 5/23/11 4:07 PM
I just installed the dev version of Chrome as per the forum.  What am I supposed to do now?

Re: Missing plug in Toni (Googler) 6/15/11 11:24 AM
For those folks who don't have a "Flash" listing in the about:plugins page - Can you tell me if this is still happening on the latest version (Stable version is now on 12.0.742.100)? If so, please make sure you've already answered the questions from my previous post on 12/20/10. For question #5, please provide the exact site URLs so we can try to reproduce.

@ImmortalShifter - Can you provide answers to the questions in the post I referenced? If you're not sure what plug-in is missing, it may not even be the Flash player (we would indicate it with a message bar) so following Flash-specific instructions won't help.

@MrProgrammer - There was an issue on Canary specifically that was causing this problem but it has since been fixed. You shouldn't be seeing this problem on the latest Canary version anymore, but let us know if you still are.

@temafrank, sudarschanaps - Like above, please provide answers to the questions in my previous post on 12/20/10. We're unable to investigate without having information about your situation as the "missing plug-in" message can be caused by various different reasons.

Re: Missing plug in PattyAnderson 6/26/11 3:43 PM
I tried the adding plugins, adobe page and still no avail. This plugin is causing problems on facebook as well as I am unable to load a video off of http://www.cbc.ca/radio2/cod/codPlayer.html?http%3A%2F%2Fwww.cbc.ca%2Fradio2%2Fmedia%2F20110615slave%2Fall.asx
It would be nice to be able to add our extensions or do our updates on this browser. When I go to the tool, about Chrome, it states that I am not able to connect to the update server. Error: 3
Re: Missing plug in montjoy 7/1/11 12:16 PM
This just started happening to me after I updated to 13.0.782.41.  I've also installed beta 13.0.782.41 and it doesn't work there either.  I'm in Ubuntu 11.04 64-bit Linux, so if I install the flash plugin that Firefox uses, chrome is able to use that instead.  I'd rather use Chrome's inbuilt flash player though.

Sometimes I see "Missing Plugin-in" and sometimes it just says I need a newer version of flash.

Recap:  In-built flash missing, but can use external one in /var/lib/flashplugin-installer/npwrapper.libflashplayer.so.

Also, I can't find your post on 12/20/10 so if you need more information can you send a link?  Thanks.

Re: Missing plug in Vladimir K. 8/12/11 8:24 AM
I have Ubuntu 11.04 x86_64 and Chrome 15.0.849.0 dev
I'm fixed this so:
1. download flashplayer11_b2_install_lin_64_080811.tar.gz archive from http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/flashplayer11.html
2. copy file libflashplayer.so from archive to folder /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/
3. restart browser
It's all, flash-plugin in Chome do work.
Re: Missing plug in LongOfTooth 8/24/11 8:40 AM
Just now I tried to view this video http://www.mitnicksecurity.com/video.php?video=lockpick but got the Missing Plug-in message.  Kind of frustrating when the message doesn't even give us a hint as to what Plug-In it was looking for.  Such as "Missing Windows Media Player Plug-In".  Now that would be informative and much less frustrating.
Re: Missing plug in Mike Todd 9/26/11 7:37 AM
@Toni - I am having this problem as well.  Here are the answers to your questions:

1. Version: 14.0.835.186 m  (I'm not sure what version I had before this, where it worked okay.)

2. Does not happen in Firefox, no.

3. Have made no changes in my plugin settings, am using all defaults.  As a note, I did not encounter this problem before I updated Chrome last week.

4. Plug-ins are not blocked.

5. Here is an example: http://rpg.drivethrustuff.com/product_info.php?products_id=94049 -- under Product Previews there should be a preview Flash widget.
Re: Missing plug in dahlihyou 10/2/11 1:23 AM
I encountered this kind of problem too. And I 100% sure it is not because adobe flash player is too old or not installed.
Because many website with flash can be displayed correctly, except few website including mine... :p

It turned out that the website use the HTML language to embed flash.  If one use the following HTML, <embed height="600" width="800" src="http://the.web.site/xxxx/flash.swf" quality="high" pluginspage="http://www.adobe.com/tw/products/flashplayer/" type="application/x-adobe-flash" />.
In my website, I used the previous HTML to embed flash.  In Firefox, Chrome and Safari, they will not show the flash file, but display  "Missing plug in" instead. So, I change the HTML as the following, and then all the flash show up!
<embed height="600" width="800" src="http://the.web.site/xxxx/flash.swf" quality="high" pluginspage="http://www.adobe.com/tw/products/flashplayer/" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" />

In summary, website owner may change the HTML code from type="application/x-adobe-flash" to  type="application/x-shockwave-flash".
Re: Missing plug in Mike Todd 10/3/11 4:22 PM
@dahlihyou: That fixed it!
Re: Missing plug in enough1 10/4/11 11:15 AM
This "missing plug-in" problem is very troubling.  This is a basic browser function.  The only way I have found to get this to work is to close Chrome and then start Chrome fresh.  This is not just a bug but a basic function that does not work.
Re: Missing plug in Woodecker 10/7/11 11:45 AM
- Missing plugin on flash player.
- The problem begin after installing flash player 11 update on MacOS 10.6.8
- Google Chrome version: 14.0.835.202
- Firefox runs OK.

Yes, both files. I tried activating/deactivating both.

Flash (2 files) - Versión: 11.0.1.152
Shockwave Flash 11.0 r1

4. Check to make sure you aren't blocking plug-ins by going to the Wrench menu -> Options -> Under the Hood -> Content Settings (under the Privacy section).
NO blocking.

5. What sites are you experiencing this "missing plug-in" error in? If you're receiving this error while playing games in Facebook, please provide details on what games, etc.
Youtube, Vimeo... all sites with flash.

Re: Missing plug in lagunexxx 10/24/11 10:12 PM
I had to manually install the plugin in my computer and then it worked fine.

Chrome version: 14.0.835.202
OS Version: Fedora release 15 (Lovelock)
Download link: http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/otherversions/
Options: Linux (64-bit) - Flash Player 11 for other Linux (.rpm) 64-bit.

The YUM version of Flash Player didn't worked for me.
Re: Missing plug in Fastbrother 11/20/11 2:50 PM
Ese error se debe también a un complemento (plugin) de Windows Media Player, no necesariamente a de Flash Player.
Re: Missing plug in DVeal 11/28/11 11:10 PM
Still having this error,
System info:
Windows Vista 64-bit O/S
Chrome: 15.0.874.121 m

Steps taken:
Disabled and Re-enabled Flash Plug-In
Loaded Task Killer and Killed Shockwave Flash
Rebooted Computer
Uninstalled Chrome > Reinstalled Chrome
Disabled one of the Flash plugins, the one local to Chrome
Manually Uninstalled Flash > Downloaded/Installed Latest Flash player per O/S ver.

All steps have had no resolve.

Issue persists in Internet Explorer, have not tried FireFox.

Regardless, why is this all of a sudden an issue? this never happened until recently.

anyone else have other suggestions?
Re: Missing plug in Woodecker 11/29/11 7:19 AM
Me too, still having this error on MacOS only on chrome, not on firefox non safari.

macos 10.6.8
Chrome: 15.0.874.121

Steps
Disabled and Re-enabled Flash Plug-In
Loaded Task Killer and Killed Shockwave Flash
Rebooted Computer
Uninstalled Chrome > Reinstalled Chrome
Disabled one of the Flash plugins, the one local to Chrome
Manually Uninstalled Flash > Downloaded/Installed Latest Flash player per O/S ver.
Checkdisk for privileges problems.
Re: Missing plug in Steph.O 12/13/11 2:34 PM
For me:

about:plugins DOES NOT show flash
installing flash from the Adobe website does nothing

version of chrome: 16.0.912.63     --- this problem has existed for about a year now though
website: youtube

I'm running Fedora 14, 64 bit

Firefox works fine.
Re: Missing plug in muny 12/14/11 12:58 AM
My issue was a missing plugin from embedded videos from some sites and not others.

http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/otherversions/
(I chose win7 64bit, other browser)
When the install finished the video loaded.

I re-launched chrome and it broke again.
I repeated the install,
went to about:plugins detailed view,
disabled flash11 (had a flash10 and a flash11 at this point)
re-launched chrome,
flash10 entry became flash11
(so I had 2 flash11, one of which was disabled)
and video is still working.

one thing worth mentioning is,
this was on a "standard user" sub account,
and my admin account didn't had the same issues.

I even tried to create another sub account,
but I was still getting the "missing plug in"

none of the above solutions worked for me.
I have Gentoo Linux x86_64
www-client/chromium-16.0.912.63
Flash - Version: 11.1 r102
Shockwave Flash 11.1 r102

I can see whatever flash animation but if I try to see a website where a "bannersnack.com" animation is present, I get "Missing Plug-In".
The animation is visible with Mozilla Firefox.

Please, fix it.

Shockwave Flash 11.1 r102
Name:        Shockwave Flash

and

Re: Missing plug in Woodecker 12/17/11 4:06 AM
This forum is useless. Even adobe or google don't resolve this problem.
Re: Missing plug in floxrin1 12/23/11 4:00 AM
It is cause by flash conflict. Do this:
1) enter in address bar: about:plugins
2) click: Details on right side
3) find: Flash (2 files)
3) Disable the first - the file that is in .../Google/Chrome.....
4) Restart chrome

Missing Plugin issue should be gone now.
Hope google will fix this with the next update
Re: Missing plug in fbcyborg 12/23/11 4:12 AM
No floxrin1, it is not possible.
First I have chromium, and I'm on Linux.

Second I only have one file:

Flash - Version: 11.1 r102
Shockwave Flash 11.1 r102
Name:        Shockwave Flash
Version:        11.1 r102
Location:        /opt/Adobe/flash-player/flash-plugin/libflashplayer.so
          Disable
MIME types:
MIME type        Description        File extensions
application/x-shockwave-flash        Shockwave Flash
.swf
application/futuresplash        FutureSplash Player
.spl
Re: Missing plug in floxrin1 12/23/11 4:56 AM
Hi fbcyborg -

it works for Chrome 16.0.912.63 m. Tried it on 2 PCs and fixed the issue. No idea about Chromium though...
Re: Missing plug in jaloren 12/26/11 9:14 AM
This is what worked for me.

1. in the URL bar, type chrome://plugins/ and then press enter.
2. In the upper right hand corner, select the Details button.
3. locate the plugin with the following title

Flash (2 files)

4. In this plugin, there should be two shockwave flash entries. the difference between the two is the directory location. On win 7 system, they are as follows:

C:\Users\Joseph\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\Application\16.0.912.63\gcswf32.dll
C:\Windows\SysWOW64\Macromed\Flash\NPSWF32.dll

5. disable the shockwave file that is located in the AppData directory.
6. Reload the browser which has the flash player. It should be working now.

A solution for CHROMIUM on LINUX?
Re: Missing plug in Artistic 12/26/11 4:15 PM
None of these worked for me either. I'm trying to stream videos on Zager Guitar and it says missing plug-in. We've tried everything. I can get them to play in IE on the laptop, not safari or Google Chrome. Works fine on a Mac if I right click and 'run Flip 4 Mac'. But that gets the missing plug-in symbol first, too, in google chrome and Camino. Can't get it to work on Windows 7.
Re: Missing plug in Artistic 12/26/11 4:20 PM
I just tried to run them in FireFox and it says that it needs 32 bit to play them. I wonder if this is happening elsewhere.
Re: Missing plug in afrudii 12/29/11 1:21 PM
something wrong with flash player chrome plugin actually...

•at address bar go to: chrome://plugins/
•at right Plug-ins bar click +Details
•find Flash> and u will see there are 2 same Flash player was enabled... just click "disable" one of them or the first one...
•after disable, just refresh your browser and done!

Has anyone got an answer to this???
Re: Missing plug in JADABUG4 1/1/12 6:33 PM
THIS IS A WAY TO FIX IT, IT WORKED FOR ME AND A LOT OF OTHERS!!! If your video and game sites are all of a sudden saying "missing plug-in" this is how you can fix it!!

Re: Missing plug in Rosadilla 1/3/12 7:00 AM

Re: Missing plug in Toni (Googler) 1/4/12 3:24 PM
Hi everyone,

Thanks for your reports around this. If you recently started receiving the "missing plug-in" error after Chrome updated to version 16.0 (within the last few weeks), you are likely affected by http://crbug.com/108228. We don't need additional examples at this time so if this just started happening for you with the recent update, click on the star in the upper left corner of the crbug link to receive updates on progress. You can check your Chrome version by clicking on the Wrench menu -> About Google Chrome. We're aiming to roll out the fix soon and I'll update this thread when we know more.

Please note that not all "missing plug-in" errors are caused by the same reason, so if you had this problem before Chrome updated to 16.0, you're likely affected by something different. To avoid confusing this recent occurrence with past or new/different causes, I'm going to lock this thread for the interim. If you fall into this category of having had this issue prior to Chrome 16 (e.g. JADABUG4), please start a new thread and if you haven't already, provide specifics such as your Chrome version #, OS (WinXP, Mac OSX, etc), and the exact URL of the website that it's occurring on.

Thanks!
Toni
Re: Missing plug in Toni (Googler) 1/6/12 11:58 AM
Thanks for your patience, everyone! We've started rolling out the fix for this issue on Chrome 16.0.912.75. Check to see if you're on this latest version by going to Wrench menu -> About Google Chrome

Remember, if you were already having the "missing plug-in" issue prior to version 16, your problem is caused by something different. If you could start a new thread with the requested info in my above post, we can investigate that separately.
