Google Chrome automatically imports your favorites/saved passwords(at least I think it imports these)/etc. when you install it for the first time.

If this fails to occur, you can take the following steps to import them to Chrome:

1. Open Google Chrome
2. Click on the Wrench icon in the upper right corner.
3. Select "Import bookmarks & settings..."
4. Microsoft Internet Explorer should already be selected, but if not, select it in the drop-down menu.
5. Select the options that you want imported.
6. Click the "Import" button.

Chrome will then import all the settings you requested.

This only imports folders from IE and not "loose" favourites that have been just saved in favourites.
I Would like to know too.

Just wanted to let you all know about transferring saved passwords from Firefox to Google Chrome.  It does not happen automatically, however, it is SUPER EASY to do.  Just click on the wrench in upper right hand corner of screen, go to import and then choose the Firefox option.  Boom!  It's done.

There is no "Import bookmarks & settings" under my "Wrench" and I have not been able to do this so will not use Chrome

Ted,
I had the same problem.  Just go to Wrench -> Options -> Personal Stuff -> Browsing Data -> Import Data -> Select what and from where you wish to import.  Hope this helps.

I am trying very "very" hard to use Chrome, but it doesn't seam to be competitive with windows internet explore which I am trying to get rid of. To import favorites it doesn't work...how Google is willing to release Google TV???????? With all means there are lots of simple things that Chrome doesn't cover. Come on guys, you can come up with something better...I went to "Bookmarks Manager" and on the dialog box on "Tools" menu there is the option to import it but is doesn't work...it should be simpler I guess...I hope someone would help. Thanks.

Don't know which version of Chrome you guys are talking about. Just did an import of the Favorite from IE. Here is how. Very Simple.

1. Open Google Chrome
2. Click on the Wrench icon in the upper right corner.
3. Select Options.
4. Select the personal stuff tab.
5. Go down to Browsing Data and select "Import data from another browser"
6. Microsoft Internet Explorer should already be selected, but if not, select it in the drop-down menu.
7. Select the options that you want imported.
8. Click the "Import" button.

But they are now all under the wrench and I have to go to bookmark manager in order to be able to see them.  do I have to manually move them somehow so that they show up automatically on the left side of the screen???  Help, I am so frustrated.  Thanks

Haroldh's post on 11/30/10 works perfectly. rvgbrusa is lost in the wilderness if he chooses not to take haroldh's advice.  Amongst the options one can select are IE Favourites. pappa.clegg

I just download chrome and told it to transfer my files from Firefox but nothing transfered. I tried this 2-3 times. Anyone got any tips on how to correct this problem?

I tried too, several times to transfer my files from Firefox, but it's not worked. Do you have to have the other browser open whilst transferring files to Chrome?
Re: How do I transfer my Favorites? MultiRoW 7/4/11 3:25 AM
From Firefox to Chrome
.Launch Firefox
.ctrl+shift+b (open bookmarks library)
.'Import and save' button menu: choose 'export html'
and the folder of destination
.Launch Chrome
.'Manage bookmarks', 'Manage', 'Import' (I dont'have english version so maybe you have to find something similar)
.Select the folder where you just saved the firefox bookmarks

I solved this way on XP with
Chrome version 12.0.742.112
Firefox version 4.0.1

Google Chrome automatically imports your favorites/saved passwords(at least I think it imports these)/etc. when you install it for the first time.

If this fails to occur, you can take the following steps to import them to Chrome:

1. Open Google Chrome
2. Click on the Wrench icon in the upper right corner - a new (settings) tab will open in the browser
3. Click Personal Stuff on the menu on the left hand side of the screen
4. Four rows down is the browsing data option to allow importing of data from another browser
5. Select "Import Data from another browser"
6. The default is Microsoft Internet Explorer and should already be selected, but if not, select it in the drop-down menu.
7. There are four tick box options to choose from Browser History,  Favourites/Bookmarks, Saved passwords, Search engines
8. Tick the options you want to import
9. Click the "Import" button.

Chrome will then import the settings you selected.

Enjoy ;-).

Actually there is a major flaw I just recently started using Chrome only  because I wanted to tinker with a Google display thing and there is only the Wrench and Bookmarks then Importing bookmarks. I haven't a clue where he gets the personal stuff from. Maybe it's because he has created a profile, something that should have been stated in his original post...
Also when I first tried to import them it wouldn't allow me to as Chrome was looking for html files and would not accept htm files. Miraculously after playing with Chrome for only a short while I clicked on import and it imported everything from IE as someone had suggested it did.
No one is 'lost in the wilderness' .. all aspects of his post weren't completed. Yes, I do find that Chrome is a pain in the ass but I don't seem to have the bugs that IE has... so I'll keep it for now.
