|Delete single item from address bar history||Danibord80||10/15/10 11:04 AM|
Google Chrome version 6.0.472.63 ; Operating System: Windows7
Please describe your question/comment in detail (for example, steps to reproduce the problem):
When i put as first letter on the address bar O, it shows always a link to a page i visited long time ago and i don't want to be displayed.
I found only how to delete all the history or how to disable address bar suggestion, but i want to keep them both and delete only that single entry.
It is possible?

What we need is just a little "Delete" option on the right click menu. Even IE has that.
Enter the address of a website you want to delete, and then select it from the drop-down menu in the address bar. Then press Shift+Delete on it.

doesn't work; if i do like you say the address is canceled by the address bar in the moment, but if i write again the same letter in the address bar it shows up again like before.

shift-del works for me

Whether the shift+delete suggestion works or not depends on the little icon on the left side of the address. I see three types of icons. One is the globe/earth icon. For addresses that have this icon shift+delete works.
Another address that i tried to delete has a star icon. Shift+delete does not work on this address because the star means that it is saved in my bookmarks. To delete this address, i went into the bookmark manager, found it using search and deleted it. Now it's gone.
The third type of icon is a magnifying glass. These aren't addresses, but things that you've searched for. Shift+delete did not work on this type of saved info in the address bar and i couldn't find a way to do it. let us know if someone can.

Ok so the only thing that I found that permanently works is to go to the options page and clear the browsing history, intuition tells me that the address bar info is located in the browsing history cache but I just cleared everything. WARNING!!! THIS CLEARS THE ENTIRE ADDRESS BAR AND BROWSING HISTORY!!!! also if you want to open a page that won't show up in the adress bar sugestions afterward you can always use incognito windows -_~

Shift-delete isn't working for me even though the icon is the globe. Is it different on a Mac??
Mr.Dark, it's not always something nefarious that causes someone to want to delete something. I typed the wrong url and now it very inconveniently shows up in the url drop-down causing me to re-choose it over and over, prolonging the problem. (It's an i vs and l in the url, so it's tough to see the difference.) Incognito wouldn't have helped, and clearing the *entire* history is even more inconvenient than this one error. (For someone who *was* doing something nefarious or even working on an important surprise/gift, this would be the way to go!)

the only thing you have to do is HOLD A LEFT CLICK ON THE LINK YOU WANTED TO DELETE, THEN AIM FOR A SHIFT+DELETE. and that's it.
well, it only works for a globe/earth icon.

Closing this thread as there's another thread discussing the similar problem. In the mean time, please see the answer posted in another thread below. Thanks.
Shift+Delete (Fn+Shift+Delete on Mac laptops) is only applicable to items that have a globe icon in front of it in the address bar. As Karl.Honky and other who have mentioned that to delete history, you'll need to clear your browser history.
If you don't want to clear "all" your history, you can do the following:
1. Type chrome:history into the address bar.
2. Search for the specific history entry.
3. Click Edit items on the upper right corner - checkbox will appear in front of the history entries.
4. Select the checkbox for the entries that you'd like to delete.
5. Click Remove selected items.6. Click Done removing items to complete.
The entry won't show up in your address bar again.
