|Why does Google Chrome not work with Windows XP Pro SP3?||wizzo49||11/8/08 6:31 PM|
It was downloading very slow when you say it takes less then a minute to download and setup! Anything else I download doesn't take that long. Then I see others complaining that they have trouble with it after running it with there Windows XP SP3. Why is that? Is it not made for Windows XP Pro SP3 and just for Windows XP SP2 and Windows Vista? If so, then state that it is not made for Windows XP Pro SP3. Thanks!

Having same prob! With IE8 also. I like the look & the alledged functionality of both, but DAMN THEY'RE BOTH SLOW. I've tried different configs, cleared temp, history, data caches, updated Patches, HotFixes, etc. My ISP/IC connect is maxed. (Direct Cable Modem Wired)Ran several diff. anti-virus/spyware prog configs. (SpyBot, DriveSentry, AVG8Free) To no avail! 8(
When I was running IE7 - things were just fine = fast! Going 2 try 2 go back 2 IE7. Hopefully there'll B no problems doing that although I here a lot of people trying 2 do so R having probs uninstalling IE8 with WinXP SP3. Hopefully, Microsoft & Google R working on the issues & will patch/update/fix soon.
WinXP SP3 with IE8 &/or Google Chrome = Really. Bad. Poor. No Good!

I just discovered this problem after trying to download youtube downloader as I need the upgraded version which caters to an October 21 Youtube change. As I try to click save from the Chrome download bar to save the latest version of the software (youtube downloader), the notification displayed estimated download time starting from 1 hour, then 2 hours, then 1 day, 3 days... I thought the download server might have some problems so I tried downloading other files from another site. Still the same response by Google Chrome browser.
So I tried going back to Firefox which I haven't used for quite some time since I've been using Chrome already. VOILA! I was able to successfully download the software (youtube downloader). So I am guessing maybe the recent auto-update of my Win XP into SP3 could be the culprit.
So hopefully Google guys will look into it as if Firefox can provide successful downloads, chances are people will switch back to it (away from Chrome) ;)

whatever you do no revert back to SP2, doing so could result in you having more problems than you did with SP3. Just saying.

First, try to install from your administrator account with the download files. Repeat installation to each user account.
If don't run, do this:
1) Make sure Google Chrome is permitted (except by any antivirus)
2) Firewall disables (Only to install Google Chrome) and
Automatic Updates Windows XP (Do Not Forget)
3) Into Administrator Account! In safe mode with Networking (F8)!
Make installation of Google Chrome provided by the alternatives (by the setup of standalone, chrome, pack, softonic)
Repeat this for each user account XP, and to make installation in each.
Note: this is because XP sp3 supports just a Chrome browser
4) Use Mozilla Firefox browser to download links for the option a.
Download free: http://www.mozilla-europe.org/es/firefox/
Do not use IE.
5) Must install several times depending on type errors "0xetc".
Until you install and run Google Chrome.
6) Sync your account chrome and import data from other browsers.
7) After installing Google Chrome for each user, close session until each one save setup
