Voice & Video Chat Plugin not working dinomario 2/25/10 3:45 AM
Every time I try to install Google Voice and Video chat, it doesn't work!  Here is the process I go through:

1.  Click "Add Voice/Video Chat" from the "Video & More" next to a person's name
2.  Go through the steps to install the plugin.
3.  I restart my browser.
4.  Back to Gmail(settings page).  It says "trying to detect audio hardware"
5.  I see no change at all and see that Add voice/video chat" again, and when I click it, it takes me back to the page to install the software again.

I have tried this in Firefox and chrome.....with no luck.

:
Operating system: Windows XP (SP2)
Browsers: Firefox 3.5.3 and Chrome 4.0.249.89
Antivirus: ESET Nod32 4.0.437.0

I have the exact same problem. Did you find a solution? I must have removed and installed the plugin some 20 times! Please let me know if you were able to resolve this.

Hi, please post again if this is still happening. I believe we have solved the last of these major issues with our latest 1.1.2 release.

I'm using plugin version 1.2.0.9398 which I just downloaded from google.com/talk and still no dice.

I was logged out and quit my browser while installing, and when i log back in, it still asks me to install it.

Do I have to manually place the files somewhere?

I'm using Firefox 3.6.3 on OSX 10.6.3

You should not have to place any files anywhere. Could you try giving your machine a quick reboot?

Same problem here.  OS X 10.6.4 - Firefox 3.6.8
Installer was installed - states I need to download and install the plugin.

I switch over to Safari 5.01 - plug in works fine.

I switch over to a clean firefox profile (not many plugins or extensions).
Plug in works fine.

I disabled all extensions - relaunched firefox with the other profile - still not working.
Here is a list from about:plugins
Default Plugin
Java Embedding Plugin 0.9.7.2
Unity Player
Microsoft Office Live Plug-in
QuakeLive Plugin
Garmin Communicator Plug-in Version 2.8.3.0
Silverlight Plug-In
Java Plug-In 2 for NPAPI Browsers
Google Talk Plugin Video Accelerator
Flip4Mac Windows Media Plugin 2.3.4
Shockwave Flash
QuickTime Plug-in 7.6.6

Notice that "Google Talk NPAPI Plugin" is missing from the list!!  Shouldn't be.. I installed it and it worked on the other profile.

I disabled them all except the 1 google talk plugin, relaunched - Now it states I need flash.  I enable it:
Now I can make calls.  I also did the same for extensions and went to the default theme.

A pain in the ass but disable all plugins and extensions except Shockwave Flash and Google Talk Plugin Video Accelerator.  Restart firefox.  Check to see if you now have Google Talk NPAPI Plugin installed/enabled.

Re-enable all your plugins and extensions and you should be sitting pretty.

I forgot to mention I think a plug in or extension did not allow the voice/video chat plug in to initiate properly.
I wish I could have pinpointed it to the exact plug in or extension but what I did above did work out for me.

I can't get the download to open as anything but a text file.  I've tried several times, in several different browsers.  Also unchecked Rosetta, restarted Firefox, and tried again.  No dice.

everybody upset, many people paied but no chance, they dont even answer people. i paied $10, guess we better talk to media, not even a costumer service eccept the swedish guy who so proud to making google voice to talk with his friend in state. i bet he use my $10 calling here and there. he better to creat an email for himself rather then google voice !!
Re: Voice & Video Chat Plugin not working çoban 4/28/11 11:22 PM
I think i have the same problem. The installer file i downloaded warns me to "restart all browsers" even if i have already closed them. In gmail settings, it prompts me to intall plugin again and again after it "detects the devices" for about 15 seconds. Up to now, none of the suggestions worked. I have tried rebooting, uninstalling/reinstallling and even reinstalling my windpws xp (32 bit) Any original ideas?
