Google Calendar Syncing to Calendar App in Mountain Lion Constantly Asks for Password alexceleste 8/10/12 1:27 PM
Yesterday I changed my Google password, but haven't enabled 2-step verification (though I did enable it and then disable it after seeing this issue). After updating my account password in Mail, Contacts, and Calendars preferences in System Preferences with my new main Google account password everything except Calendar worked fine. Calendar now constantly asks for my account password in a dialog that states "Calendar can't connect to the Google account "__"; "Enter the password for user "__". After entering the (correct, as proven with Mail, Messages, and logging in online) little "alert" icons will appear next to most of my calendars that sync with Google (both main calendar and delegates) and some of the time the dialog reappears immediately and other times it appears on the next refresh. Likewise clicking the alert icons will either bring up the password dialog or a dialog saying the server responded with an error and "There was an unexpected error with the request (domain (null) / error 0)." After dismissing that dialog and clicking the alert icons again the password dialog reappears. I will find messages similar to the below in Console when the password fails and brings up the dialog again:

Any ideas what is going wrong or how to get Calendar to sync properly with Google Calendar again now that all I did was an innocent password change. Of note, my iOS devices were set up with CalDAV syncing and I've seen the same thing happen on them now. However, a simple fix there was to just set up my Google account using Exchange.
Re: Google Calendar Syncing to Calendar App in Mountain Lion Constantly Asks for Password AndrewP38 8/11/12 7:08 AM
I have a macbook air with mountain lion. I am having the same issue and it is very annoying. This was even happening before I changed my password (changed my password after it started happening to see if that would possibly fix it). I spent more than an hour on the phone with apple support and they had me reset my keychain twice, delete and re-add my google account, among other things. I even formatted my hard drive and installed a clean copy of mountain lion and that did not change a thing. It also seems whimsical as to which calendars have the exclamation mark beside them (see attached picture)
Re: Google Calendar Syncing to Calendar App in Mountain Lion Constantly Asks for Password RM-S 8/12/12 5:02 AM
I'm also having this problem!

Interspersed every so often are messages that the "server reported an error".
Re: Google Calendar Syncing to Calendar App in Mountain Lion Constantly Asks for Password stijndg 8/12/12 6:07 AM
Had the same problem, but suddenly, it started to work again.

Yesterday it worked again after turning my Google account off and on in Calendar ("iCal"), but today the problem reoccured. Now I just restarted Calendar and it works again.

So strange...
Re: Google Calendar Syncing to Calendar App in Mountain Lion Constantly Asks for Password Brenton007 8/12/12 10:12 PM
I'm having the same problem. It is quite frustrating that the calendar works perfectly in a browser but the syncing does not work consistently with iCal. We are finding that it works sometimes and not others. We have tried deleting passwords in Keychain and setting up accounts from scratch but nothing works consistently. The problem persists. Any other ideas??
Re: Google Calendar Syncing to Calendar App in Mountain Lion Constantly Asks for Password AndrewP38 8/13/12 4:20 AM
As stated above, I have also tried wiping the hard drive and reinstalling a clean copy of mountain lion to no avail.

Not just that, it works flawlessly on my iPhone and iPad calendar apps. Apple tech support told me that the google mobile server and the google server that my macbook air talks to are different.

Same problem here.  Very frustrating. Waiting for a answer

same problem .... any ideas?

Re: Google Calendar Syncing to Calendar App in Mountain Lion Constantly Asks for Password ChiliMac001 8/14/12 1:36 PM
I am also having problems with Google Calendar syncing with the Mac Calendar. Has anyone heard any response from Google? I spend an 2 hours with Apple trying to figure it out but it appears to be an issue communicating with Googles servers. I keep getting an error and asked for my password. Doesn't matter if I enter it, still won't work.
Re: Google Calendar Syncing to Calendar App in Mountain Lion Constantly Asks for Password stijndg 8/14/12 3:47 PM
For me, restarting the app a few times does the trick. Although, at the moment, I have to do this a couple of times each day, so it is really very annoying.
Re: Google Calendar Syncing to Calendar App in Mountain Lion Constantly Asks for Password rp90 8/15/12 8:33 AM
I'm also having the same problem. Sometimes iCal syncs just fine; other times I get a string of dialog boxes going diagonally down my screen, claiming my Google password is incorrect for each of my calendars. And it also seems that random items that I create on iCal on my laptop don't transfer over to another computer at home. An unreliable calendar is almost worse than none at all ...
Re: Google Calendar Syncing to Calendar App in Mountain Lion Constantly Asks for Password airgroove 8/15/12 9:11 AM
I am having the same problem. this is very frustrating. I am having the problem on my Air and on my iMac, so it doesn't seem to be device specific. I tried moving to 2-setp auth, but that caused other problems, so I went back to just password. And the problem persists.

Please Google fix this. FYI, I am using Google Apps - i.e. the paid version, not gmail.
Re: Google Calendar Syncing to Calendar App in Mountain Lion Constantly Asks for Password asdf2357 8/15/12 1:51 PM
I am having the same issue with both iCal and the Fantastical calendar app on my system running Mountain Lion, but syncing works properly on my iPhone and iPad. I use application-specific passwords and tried deleting them from the keychain. I also tried generating new passwords, but the problem annoyingly persists

Recently, Gmail did not work with third-party e-mail apps such as Apple Mail for several days for many users because of a Gmail IMAP issue discussed in a different thread. I would like know what Google is doing that would cause multiple service failures.
Re: Google Calendar Syncing to Calendar App in Mountain Lion Constantly Asks for Password owrh 8/15/12 2:07 PM
Also having the same issue.  Note I am using 2-factor authentication with my (paid-for!) Google Apps account.  I haven't tried turning this off to check (simply too much hassle to re-enable and regenerate app passwords!).  I have also tried turning off all delegation on the Calendar app, but this made no difference.

Very frustrating.
Re: Google Calendar Syncing to Calendar App in Mountain Lion Constantly Asks for Password pcharles 8/15/12 5:43 PM
Similar problems here.  I have noticed it is almost exclusively a problem with subscribed delegates.  I have some personal delegates and they do not cause this. I have also noticed the problem exists in BusyCal, but does not occur on my iPad, which uses Microsoft Exchange Sync, and not CalDAV.
Re: Google Calendar Syncing to Calendar App in Mountain Lion Constantly Asks for Password anasrana 8/15/12 8:02 PM
I had the same issue with Fantastical, I contacted them from their support site (http://flexibits.com/contact) and they sent me a link to the 1.3.3 version which seems to have fixed it for me. Might want to give that a try.
Re: Google Calendar Syncing to Calendar App in Mountain Lion Constantly Asks for Password stijndg 8/16/12 3:28 AM
I only have personal delegates and the problem also occurs here, so I think it does not have something to do with subscribed delegates. Or maybe, there are different causes for this problem.
Re: Google Calendar Syncing to Calendar App in Mountain Lion Constantly Asks for Password pcharles 8/16/12 8:05 AM
I was getting similar things with Fantastical, but that program only displays what is coming through CalDAV to your calendar program, so it is not surprising that the problem exists there as well.   I'm using the Apple App Store version of Fantastical, so would need to wait for the update.   I'm wondering if Google changed something with its CalDAV server.
Re: Google Calendar Syncing to Calendar App in Mountain Lion Constantly Asks for Password hudsonwrx 8/16/12 3:45 PM
Same deal here. Updated to Mountain Lion, didn't change anything on Google Calendars... now they keep giving the exact same error (displayed in the image by AndrewP38 above). Tried to uninstall and reinstall, same error. It synced them down from google when setting up the account in iCal, but won't update now and events don't sync up to Google. Grrrr! Apple... Google.... Clearly an issue that should be dealt with by one of them. what's the fix!?

Re: Google Calendar Syncing to Calendar App in Mountain Lion Constantly Asks for Password pcharles 8/16/12 3:55 PM
Actually, I am getting the problem with Snow Leopard and with Lion, with Anything supporting CalDAV. I have checked with another person at the university and they are not using Mountain Lion either.  Since it was working on Mountain lion up to a few days ago, it is illogical t assume the problem is Nountain Lion when nothing has changed.
Re: Google Calendar Syncing to Calendar App in Mountain Lion Constantly Asks for Password pcharles 8/16/12 3:58 PM
Incidentally, does anyone have access to a CalDAV compatible Windows Client?  Mac Outlook does not support CAlDAV and Sunbird does not seem to either.

I would appreciate a response from Google regarding this issue.

I'm having the same issue with iCal and Fantastical on Mountain Lion
Re: Google Calendar Syncing to Calendar App in Mountain Lion Constantly Asks for Password slkf355 8/16/12 9:18 PM
Its not mountain lion, it's the two step authentication that's causing the problem, at least for me. I am on Snow Leopard and turned on the two tier authentication yesterday and now I can't get iCal to sync anymore without giving me an "account not found" error! Google, this needs to be added to a FAQ on calendar issues somewhere especially with the number of people turning on 2 step authentication after the recent hacking.
Re: Google Calendar Syncing to Calendar App in Mountain Lion Constantly Asks for Password New User Mountain Lion 8/16/12 11:05 PM
Hello all,
I hope this info will help. Google calendar and Mountain Lion Calendar won't sync because you need to "Authorized Access to your Google Account".

Let me copy and paste below (highlighted in blue) from google "my account" setting, hopefully this will further explain a bit:
Application-specific passwords

Some applications that work outside a browser aren't yet compatible with 2-step verification and cannot ask for verification codes, for example:
Email apps on your iPhone and/or iPad
Email programs including Outlook, Apple Mail, or Thunderbird
Android smartphones or tablets
Google Sync via Exchange
Calendar sync
To use these applications, you first need to generate an application-specific password. Next, enter that in the password field of your application instead of your regular password. You can create a new application-specific password for each application that needs one. Learn more

I encountered the same problem as posted by you all, but then found out that I just need to go to my Google account settings, click on "security" and then click on "EDIT" button for "Authorizing Applications and Sites", then follow the steps there,.. and now I am all fine.

Hope this help and good luck!

It seems to work!!!!!! Woohoow, the first real solution!!!

I wasn't using the two-step verification, but this really seems to solve the problem.

Thanks a lot!
Re: Google Calendar Syncing to Calendar App in Mountain Lion Constantly Asks for Password elliotykim 8/17/12 3:00 AM
I was already following those steps when I was having problems earlier in the day. Now it's working without me changing anything. Seems like Google fixed the issue.
Re: Google Calendar Syncing to Calendar App in Mountain Lion Constantly Asks for Password AndrewP38 8/17/12 3:26 AM
I think most of us were having this problem with two-step verification turned off (I don't use two-step verification) so the option to add app-specific passwords is not available. Either way, using the calendar app on my mac seems to be without issue this morning. We will see if it acts up later.
Re: Google Calendar Syncing to Calendar App in Mountain Lion Constantly Asks for Password stijndg 8/17/12 4:04 AM
Oh, so my euphoria was for nothing?

Hmm, then I think I'll turn the 2-step verification off again.

Hi all,

Thanks for letting us know what you were seeing.  I can confirm there was an issue taking place, but our team was made aware and this should now be resolved.

@all Can you confirm whether you're still seeing the issue?  If you are, perhaps try a fresh reboot and then try again.

I will be on the lookout for your replies.  Thank you for your patience!

Katherine

Yesterday evening, it seemed that the problem reoccured.
Yet, now I rebooted my Mac and it seems gone. Hooray :)

Thanks!

hi Katherine,

I'm still facing this issue. In fact my delegates (I have 10 Google calendars in the same account) dont show up at all, in the delegates list. Please help!!

iCal 6, Mountain Lion 10.8.2
Re: Google Calendar Syncing to Calendar App in Mountain Lion Constantly Asks for Password KatherineG 10/26/12 2:52 PM
khush24 - can you give me some additional information about these delegates: are they calendars you created, calendars that are shared with you specifically, feeds, etc.

Did you just recently upgrade and notice the issue?
Re: Google Calendar Syncing to Calendar App in Mountain Lion Constantly Asks for Password Paul1Li 10/27/12 11:24 PM
Same old problem: error message pops out every now and then when calendar app is updating, but not always.

OSX 10.8.2, Calendar app 6.0, 2-step auth off.
I on sync with my private calendar.

Thanks.
Paul

Oh, it seems that my problem is not the same as everybody else's. My calendar app does not ask for a password; instead, the error message says :"The server responded with an error".

I Have the same problem here
Re: Google Calendar Syncing to Calendar App in Mountain Lion Constantly Asks for Password scottbrown5000 11/26/12 6:45 AM
Same problem here. Been happening for some time now. All errors are related to delegates. Here's an example: 'https://calendar.google.com/calendar/dav/username@email.com/user/ is not a location that supports this request.' (user...@email.com is a replacement for the actual email address in the error.)

I get dozens of these errors a day.

Using Mountain Lion 10.8.2.
Re: Google Calendar Syncing to Calendar App in Mountain Lion Constantly Asks for Password analyzeyou85 11/26/12 7:26 AM
I also get this error message many times a day... "The server responded with an error.  https://www.google.com/calendar/dav/USERNAME@gmail.com/user/ is not a location that supports this request."

This is getting quite frustrating and annoying!  Is there anything I can do to fix this?

Add another to the chorous...I am having this issue.

I am really just commenting so I can get e-mail updates when this issue is hopefully resolved.

I miss iCal :(

I everyone, this problem can be solved if you go to your google account and mark to public share.

My problem is with google agenda shared doesn't work properly, anybody knows how to solve that?
Re: Google Calendar Syncing to Calendar App in Mountain Lion Constantly Asks for Password im4GMG 12/5/12 10:23 AM
I posted about this on another discussion thread which seems to be potentially related. Google is evidently updating the way it handles secondary calendars, and that has resulted in some errors for people syncing with iCal/Calendar.

I've been experiencing the same problem a lot of people have posted here. Events cannot be edited and new events cannot be added to any calendar, including my main one. Instead, any time I try to make a change and every time the calendar tries to update/refresh, I get the following error message:

The server responded with an error.
https://calendar.google.com/calendar/dav/myusername@gmail.com/user/ is not a location that supports this request.

In the process of trying to solve this problem, I've come across a couple of other forum discussions and have tried several things, including removing my Google Calendar account from Calendar and adding it again, and adding it directly to Calendar as a CalDAV account using the Google Calendar private address (Calendar Settings > Private Address > iCal). Nothing has worked so far. This problem started a little while ago, but I recently got a new computer and the problem has persisted onto the new computer as well, so it would appear to be device independent.

OS X 10.8.2 / Calendar version 6.0 (1645)

@Carlos - Making my calendar public isn't a solution. I don't want my calendar publicly searchable. Regarding making your calendar public, Google states: "Select this option only if you want to make all of your calendar information (including event details) available to the world."
Re: Google Calendar Syncing to Calendar App in Mountain Lion Constantly Asks for Password Chris Gruggen 12/10/12 1:25 PM
I've been having the same issue. Beyond frustrated trying to find a solution.

And yes, making your calendar public is NOT a solution. Ridiculous to say the least.
Re: Google Calendar Syncing to Calendar App in Mountain Lion Constantly Asks for Password JoeSCal 12/10/12 1:26 PM
I have the same problem. Tried remove re-adding and this did not work. The message appears more and more often for my "delegates" calendars. It's very annoying to have the calendar icon bouncing all of a sudden.
OS X 10.8.2 / Calendar version 6.0 (1645)
I also tried to mess around with this page: "https://www.google.com/calendar/syncselect?pli=1". While it seems like it solve the problem at first, all my delegates/secondary calendars appears twice in apple calendar app: both under "google" and under "delegates". When trying to unselect them from one category, it would them unselect them from both. So it's double or nothing...

Re: Google Calendar Syncing to Calendar App in Mountain Lion Constantly Asks for Password Chris Gruggen 12/10/12 1:52 PM
I went through that link you posted and removed Contacts Birthdays and Events, and turned on Canadian Holidays (Because I wanted them). It's only been about 30 minutes but seems to work.

Maybe it had an issue with getting info from my Contacts or something? The whole thing is a nightmare but at least this has worked.

Hopefully it continues to behave.
Re: Google Calendar Syncing to Calendar App in Mountain Lion Constantly Asks for Password im4GMG 12/10/12 3:25 PM
I found that deleting iCal/Calendar cache solved my problem. I deleted both the Calendar Cache folder and the com.apple.iCal file. Calendar has been syncing effectively so far, so I'm thinking it worked. Figured I would share what worked for me. You can find directions for how to find and delete the appropriate files at this page.
Re: Google Calendar Syncing to Calendar App in Mountain Lion Constantly Asks for Password Petite Pet Inn 12/29/12 11:22 AM
Thank you for your post. I was having the very same problem as everyone else. I never had any issues until I installed Mountain Lion on my mini mac. I thought it was a mountain lion issue and tried everything every one on the internet said. to no avail. I even thought it was a problem with The reminder list for some reason. But guess what? None of that fixed the issue I was having.  Rather the fix was a simple one and I never would have found it except for the post above. The post didn't fix it but it helped me figure it out. When I added a second Mountain Lion computer to my current system of computers I got an email from iCloud (i guess)  asking me to VERIFY each email address with a permission. I have an aol account, a gmail account, a petite pet inn account. I got the verification from each account and verified aol and gmail, however the Petitepetinn.com account didn't push the verification email to me in a timely manner and I forgot about it. Everytime mac mail tried to access that account it caused an error message saying it was not allowed. or the address was not correct. The email above led me to explore a little and I found the page with the verifications. And there it was staring me in the face my account that was NOT verified. I remidied that situation immediately and all is well with the mac world!  ahhhhhhhhh!

I work for an international non-profit, and we just switched from a Microsoft Exchange Server to the Google platform; and we having issues with our calendars! Some use Outlook, some use iCal... our Network Admin is telling everyone just to use the Google Calendar on the web browser, but that is ridiculous. This should not be the solution, and we may be switching back to the Exchange Server if we can't get this to work. Please get this fixed.

I just installed 2.0 on my mountain lion (previously had 1.6) and now nothing is working. I can't get my calendars to sync with my google calendars. There is just an exclamation point next to my calendars. I have tried deleting and creating a new account and it's not working.
