|How do I sync my iphone calendar onto my google calendar?||AycaLacey||3/8/10 6:10 AM|
I have found a lot of answers about transferring the info on Google calendar onto Iphone calendar, however, I am trying to do the reverse. How can I sync what is already on my iphone calendar onto my google calendar. I have just set up a google calendar which is blank and I would like all the information on my iphone to go onto that. I have set up Google calendar on my iphone by going to Settings; Mail, Contacts, Calendars; Add account; Other; Add CalDAV Account; Next. However, my google calendar is still blank.

I've been facing the same issue.
Everything seems to revolve around accessing multiple calendars on the iPhone but there doesn't seem to be any way to get the stuff off the iPhone's default calendar.
I haven't tried this but perhaps you could get iTunes to sync your iPhone's Calendar to Outlook, then export it from Outlook and then import that into Google Calendar.

I have the same problem - moving iPhone Cal to Google cal. Various help files suggest it is possible but like AycalLacey's experience, nothing seems to work. Does anyone have the definitive word on this? Seems a real opportunity for google given the growing installed base of iPhone. I for one would pay good money for a solution.

I've been trying to do the same thing for the past year. I don't have a compatible calendar in Windows Vista.I keep a daily time diary and have no way to backup the calendar or contacts list that is on my iphone. IT'S SO FRUSTATRATING!!! I've played for HOURS with several Google Calendar configurations, but to no avail. It appears to me that the only solution is to buy Outlook 97 for $110 so I have something that iTunes will recognize when I sync the iphone.

As far as the contacts list is concerned have you tried http://www.syncinablink.com/ ?

I'm trying to do the same thing as well. It'd be nice if Google would tell us if this is even possible and, if so, how to do it!
|Re: How do I sync my iphone calendar onto my google calendar?||AycaLacey||3/15/10 7:42 AM|
Hi everyone, I just wanted to let you know that I've come to a conclusion that its not possible to sync what's on your iPhone onto google cal. I've decided to bite the bullet and transfer all the info on my iPhone cal manually to google calendar and then get the app for google calendar (I think it's called goocal or something) which is £3.99 I think. I'm now using that instead of the calendar on the iPhone. It's great! It syncs as soon as there's an Internet connection with the google cal on your email account. So if you lose your iPhone all the info will be there. Hope this helps.
|Re: How do I sync my iphone calendar onto my google calendar?||filthmart||3/15/10 7:45 AM|
I think I may've found the answer, via an older post.
By jmjlewis: "It sounds like your trying to sync events that were stored on your iphone before you setup google sync. If this is the case these events won't get copied to your google calendar. To copy these to google you have to sync to outlook (iCal for mac user) through iTunes and then export the calendar into .ics format for importing in to google calendar.
As for events added post google sync setup not syncing there have been many people with this problem and im not sure why this happens. You could try deleting the google sync profile from your iphone and adding it again."

Synchronize Outlook and Apple iPhone or iPod touch calendars
Synchronization of calendars between Microsoft Office Outlook 2007 and your Apple iPhone or iPod touch requires Apple iTunes. You can configure which items are synchronized during a one-time set up process.
After the initial setup, each time that you connect your iPhone or iPod touch to your computer, the changes made on your computer or device are synchronized.
|Re: How do I sync my iphone calendar onto my google calendar?||fabulousyarn||4/5/10 11:01 AM|
I think the answer to the google sync with the calender is that the iphone calender is made to be used with mobile me. And mobile me syncs with - mobile me. There is an app called gocalender that syncs right to google calendar - I am testing it now - there are a few, but this one go tthe pbest reviews.

Man this is really frustrating... same problem here. I want to get my ipod touch and ipad calendars sync'd. I was hoping to use google calendars as a common element they could both sync to, but I can't get the info FROM my ipod TO google. II wish google would just give a definitive "no, you can't do that", or "yes, here's how". This is so frustating.
|Re: How do I sync my iphone calendar onto my google calendar?||AJAcker||4/21/10 6:51 AM|
I have multiple google calendars available, and editable, in my iPhone. I used the google sync option for the calendar and google exchange for contacts and email. Using googlemail to harvest my multiple POP3 accounts they then get pushed to my iPhone. http://www.google.com/mobile/sync/ contains the answer for google calendars, contacts and mail by google exchange. I waded through some readme's and it worked. If I can find the readme I'll post back.

OMG!!! I accidentally found the answer to this question!! It took me 4 hours...but..YES YOU CAN SEND CALENDAR EVENTS (PAST, PRESENT and FUTURE) FROM YOUR iPhone TO YOUR GOOGLE CALENDAR!! Here is how...
1. if you already have an event on your phone that you would like to add to your GOOGLE cal...from your iphone cal, select the event and hit EDIT...go down to where you see CALENDAR...tap it. Under EXCHANGE select your gmail account (it should have a check mark beside it) then hit DONE.You will now be back in the EDIT screen. Hit DONE again then go back out to your calendar. The dot beside your event should have changed colors...mine went from BLUE to GREEN.
2. if you want to add a NEW event hit the + sign to add it, type in the information, go down to calendar, tap it, look under EXCHANGE and select your gmail account, hit DONE, when you get to the ADD EVENT screen hit DONE and it will appear on your phone and on your gmail calendar.
So far it has worked WONDERFULLY for me!! I just transferred ALL of my phone events to my google cal by simply editing the CALENDAR setting on each event. I also did a test to make sure that my REMINDERS still work for the envents on my phone that have been sent to my google calendar...and..THEY DO!!!
I guess the next BIG question is...How can you set the gmail account as your default calendar? That way EVERYTHING that you put on your phone calendar will AUTOMATICALLY go to your gmail calendar. Anyone got any suggestions??
|Re: How do I sync my iphone calendar onto my google calendar?||mtj11312||7/18/10 5:10 PM|
OMG!!! I must be in GENIUS MODE!!!! I just answered my own QUESTION!!!
To set your gmail calendar as the default on your iphone...go to your calendar (I am in the MONTH view) at the top left, tap on the box that has CALENDAR on it. Next under On My iPhone UNSELECT calendar. Under exchange make sure that your gmail cal is selected (you may also select any other calendars that you might need/want). Hit DONE and you are finished.
Now your gmail calendar is the default for any events that you enter and they will appear on your phone and your gmail calendar. You can add events in either place and they show up on both places.
|Re: How do I sync my iphone calendar onto my google calendar?||rl390||7/20/10 8:54 AM|
Thanks for the info Tiffany! That helps me out so much. I spent the last couple of days trying out software and apps that would work and this finally did it :) The only thing I would clarify would be your second post. To make it your default calendar (at least this worked for me) do the following:
Mail, Contacts, Calendars...
Scroll down to Calendars section...
Under Default Calendar, choose your gmail account
Now anytime you add something on your phone, it should be reflected on your google calendar automatically.
|Re: How do I sync my iphone calendar onto my google calendar?||texw1||7/22/10 10:01 AM|
It didn't work for me. I transferred all of my events out my lousy yahoo calendar into google calendar successfully, but iTunes still does not show any "supported" calendar, and it won't post events that I create on my iphone onto my google calendar, even though my google calendar is now my default calendar on iphone. what did I miss here?
|Re: How do I sync my iphone calendar onto my google calendar?||texw1||7/22/10 11:05 AM|
Just tried it again and it works.
|Re: How do I sync my iphone calendar onto my google calendar?||mtj11312||7/24/10 4:19 AM|
iTtunes has NOTHING to do with syncing
the gmail cal and your phone cal...it's a cloud sync.
I'm glad that u figured it out.

|Re: How do I sync my iphone calendar onto my google calendar?||erjlc||8/27/10 10:31 AM|
THANK YOU Tiffany!
My only problem is that I don't have a calendar option on my old events when I go in to edit them. New ones that I add after setting everything up right work great. Does anyone know why I can't change the calendar on old ones? I checked to see if my software is up to date and it is...The only other thing I can think of is my phone is 1st generation. Maybe? hmm...Anyone else having a problem with this?
|Re: How do I sync my iphone calendar onto my google calendar?||mtj11312||8/27/10 7:38 PM|
I'm sorry...but I cannot answer your question...I LOST everything on my phone when I switched to i4 OS which is what led me to Google Cal...so syncing previous info was NEVER an issue for me...
There are MANY GREAT minds here perhaps someone will have the answer...
|Re: How do I sync my iphone calendar onto my google calendar?||Nestea||8/29/10 8:57 AM|
I had the same issue as you. Here's how I solved the uploading of past dates from my iphone to Google Cal. It may not be the best method, but it worked. I downloaded a free trial version of Outlook here http://www2.buyoffice.microsoft.com/usa/product.aspx?sku=10234476&culture=en-US and then downloaded my iphone calendar data to it. Then I saved a .ics version of the Outlook calendar and uploaded it into my Google calendar. At first they didn't show up, but when I entered a new appointment on my Google calendar and a new appointment on my iphone calendar, they showed up. I guess there is a lag. And then all the dates synced to my iphone, which created duplicate entries -- but I'd rather have duplicates than none at all.
This forum has been extremely helpful, as I have an older iphone and just now decided to sync my calendar. Thanks to everyone for your helpful tips!
For those with i4, there is a different forum about Calendar syncing as it seems there are unique issues.
|Re: How do I sync my iphone calendar onto my google calendar?||shweber215||9/1/10 8:16 PM|
Tiffany - I went to my calendar in my iPod touch and went to edit events and there is no option for calendar.
In my edit dialogue there is... location, start, end, repeat, end repeat, alert, notes and the delete event button. I just don't get it. Strange.
|Re: How do I sync my iphone calendar onto my google calendar?||claire70||9/2/10 1:39 AM|
Does anyone else have the issue that your phone is sending you alerts of events just before they happen? I have my Google calendar set to 'no notifications' already, and there doesn't seem to be anything on iPhone to switch it on or off, either way - but I am *still* getting alerts. I don't want them!

|Re: How do I sync my iphone calendar onto my google calendar?||mkrzenski||9/19/10 2:00 AM|
HERE IS THE ANSWER!!!
THIS IS THE ANSWER TO KEEPING YOUR IPHONE AND GOOGLE CALENDAR (and even iCal if you like) ALL IN SYNC OVER THE AIR IN REAL TIME WITH GOOGLE CALENDAR AS YOUR DEFAULT ON YOUR IPHONE!
Ok guys I futzed around with this for over an hour and finally found the working solution! It's been staring us all right in the face the whole time lol. In fact, AJAcker's post above (4/21/10) was the first one to actually point the most important part of it out. So thanks to him otherwise I would have probably never worked this through and this post wouldn't have been made.
Now, before getting started you need to make sure your iPhone is at least running OS version 3.0... I'm actually on the new 4.1 myself. You can check your current version by going to Settings > General > About > Version. If it's less than 3.0 go ahead and update your iphone to the latest version via itunes before continuing.
Lastly, here's my one disclaimer... I didn't have any calendar entries before doing this so I didn't have anything I needed to try and maintain when setting this up. In other words it may be a bit more involved if you need to try and keep any existing calendar events you already have, etc.
OK, with that in mind here are the steps I took to get my iPhone, Google Calendar and iCal all in synch... over the air...in real time!
STEP 1 (If you don't ever sync with iTunes skip this step): Hook your iPhone up and in iTunes click on it under the devices section. Click on the Info tab at the top and scroll down to where where it says Sync iCal Calendars (may be some other kind of calendar on a non-mac I would guess). And UNcheck that. Yes, we are no longer going to sync our iPhone calendar via iTunes at all. Go ahead and hit the Sync button to commit the change. You can disconnect your phone from the sync cable now.
STEP2: We're going to follow Google's instructions for setting up 'Google Sync' on your IPHONE (this is different from the CalDAV method most have us have been futzing around with).
1) On your iphone go into the iphone's Settings App and scroll down to and choose 'Mail, Contacts, Calendars'
2) Click 'Add Account...' and choose 'Microsoft Exchange' (Yes, I know...this threw me off too... but this is how Google says to do it)
3) Enter your gmail address for the 'Email' and 'Username' fields (do NOT enter anything in the 'Domain' field.
4) You can put a descriptive name in the 'Description' field if you like (I chose 'Gmail Calendar' for mine)
5) Enter your gmail password in the 'Password' field and hit the Next button at the top right of the screen.
6) After hitting next, it should say 'Verifying' for a moment and then give you a 'Server' field. Enter 'm.google.com' (without the quotes) into the 'Server' field and hit the 'Next' button at the top right of the screen again.
7) You are now presented with the options of what you would like to sync (Mail, Contacts, and Calendars). I personally turned off the Mail and Contacts options and only chose Calendars.
8) Now hit 'Save' in the top right corner.
9) After hitting Save you'll be brought back to the iphone 'Mail, Contacts, Calendars' setup are...but you should now see 'Gmail Calendars' in the list - or whatever you put in for the description earlier (simply 'Exchange' by default).
10) Right under that you should see a 'Fetch New Data' option... if you want the most real-time updates possible then make sure that's set to 'Push' (that's what I have mine set to), otherwise you can choose other options in there like 'Every 15 minutes', etc.
11) Now, get out of the settings and go open Calendar... click on the 'Calendars' button on the top left of the screen. On my screen after performing all these steps I only had two calendars listed: The new gmail calendar and the Birthdays calendar... I unchecked the birthdays calendar.
That's it for your iPhone and Gmail! They are now in Sync (and in real time if you had set the Fetch settings to 'Push' earlier). How fast is real-time you ask? Well, with my iphone on my wifi at home... if I put a new event in my calendar on my iphone... it's there within seconds when I hit refresh on my browser on my google calendar...and the same way the other way around if I enter something in my google calendar.. it shows right up on my iphone within seconds!
Here's the link to the Google page that I took all this from (thanks again to AJacker for posting it):
STEP 3: Now then, for those of you who would also like to setup iCal on their Mac's to also sync with the Google calendar here's the steps to do that as well.
Note: Read step one all the way through before doing it... you may not want to do step one!
1) Open up iCal and right-click on each calendar listed there and delete them (Again, you may not want to do this if you have stuff in there you want to maintain! I did it because I didn't have anything in those calendars and I just wanted one, consolidated, synced calendar)
2) Go up to the iCal menubar and click 'iCal' and then Click 'Preferences' from the menu.
3) Click on 'Accounts'
4) Click the + button at the bottom to add an Account
5) For 'Account type' choose 'Google' ...(NOT exchange this time)
6) Enter in your gmail address and password and click the 'Create' button
7) You should now be back at the 'Accounts' screen... choose your 'Refresh Calendars' preference (I chose 'Every minute').
8) Close the Accounts window.
9) Take a look at your calendar.. For me I simply had one single calendar listed - the gmail calendar...and it was up to date immediately!
That's it! Your done! This calendar will synch every minute (if that's what you set it to do). You can also right click on the calendar name on the left hand side and choose 'refresh' any time you'd like to update it immediately.
Well guys it's been fun. Hope fully in following this you now have your iPhone, Google Calendar (and iCal if you chose to) all synched up in real-time and ready to go!
Have fun! ;)

Google the same question and you can find:-
just email the .ics file to yourself in gmail and on the right of the open message it will ask if you want to add it to your calendar. piece of cake.
Aren't you embarrassed that you didn't try that first rather than be spoonfed?

@mtj11312 Thank you so much for you post. It was very helpful. To answer your question:
The answer is simple. Go to settings > mail, contacts, calendars > scroll down to Calendars > Default Calendar >
it should display the list of calendars on your phone. Select your Google calendar. A check mark will appear next to that option. Then you're done. You're DEFAULT calendar is now Google.

Thank you so much, everyone, for all of your very clear directions on syncing calendars. Everything is working great for me, except for the duplicate issue. I'm new to this, and see that most of these posts are over a year old...has there been updates on the issue of receiving duplicate appointments? When I sync or add an event to my Ipod, it correctly posts to my google mail, but then I get a duplicate "beamed back" to my Ipod, and when I attempt to delete one of the duplicates, it deletes both entries from my Ipod, and the single entry from my google calendar. Help?

I had been struggling with the issue of merging all my calendars into one place. I use my I phone calendar but I also live by Microsoft outlook for work purposes. I had really been wanting to merge all the data of these different calendars together but couldn't find a really good clean way to do it until my friend suggested I try BIEVO. bievo is a central calendar hub that exists on the cloud, it enables you to make one change there and then it changes all of the other calendars you may be using via email updates. Once you properly synch all your devices using bievo your good to go.

what i did to link my iphone calendar to my google calendar, was i went to my settings, then to mail, contacts. calendars, next i went to add account, then click on Gmail put in all the info it told me to which was just my name, email address, and my password. then i saw that i could turn off my email and turn on my calendar, but if you want to you can keep them both on, i just dont use my gmail email for email, use my hotmail. but i only use my gmail for my calendar.
