Google Calendar sync is built into the Fascinate, so yes, it does support syncing.  Where are your sync problems?  Is the Fascinate not connecting to the Google Calendar?  On the Fascinate, have you gone to Menu, Accounts, and under your Gmail account, is it set to sync the Calendar?

Or is this a matter of using Google Calendar Sync with Outlook and it is not syncing properly?

Reporting the same problem here. Events entered on my Samsung Fascinate do not sync to my Google calendar. Under Settings->Account & Sync, Google Calendar is set to sync (and the last successful sync was a mere few minutes ago).

Samsung Fascinate on Verizon.

Not sure why it's important, but running Windows 7 64bit, with Google Chrome.

I have my problem.  First you have to register your phone with google calender online.  Then make sure in settings / Accounts & sync / your google account is "Sync is On",  then you need to go to Calender / settings / Calenders then from there make sure you whatever account your tryingto sync is there and checked off.  This should fix your problem.

Hi - same problems here.  Events on my online calendar go to the phone, but if added to the phone it never syns with my online calendar.  This was not a problem and happend automatically on my I Touch.  And that was apple - the fascinate is supposed to be a Google device!!

I'm questioning the same as @leesmtp.

My sync is working fine, but I figured out that when entering a new Event from the Fascinate, I must select the Google calendar over the default "My Calendar" which is only on the phone itself. Is there any way to make the the google/gmail calendar the default calendar to eliminate this extra step?

Also, if I accidentally add an event to the phone "My Calendar," when I go to edit it, it seems as though I'm unable to change which calendar it's in. Instead I have to delete it and start fresh with a new event entry.

I am having the same issue, but there is a workaround.  The problem is not that your phone isnt syncing properly, it is that the appointments entered into your Facinate aren't being entered onto your GCal.  The default calendar entry is set to "My Calendar", which is the phones internal ONLY calendar.  This calendar does NOT sync over, as the device seems to think it is a standalone.  The workaround:
When you FIRST go to enter a new appointment on the device, scroll down and you will see a setting called "Calendar".  Click right, and it will allow you to select which calendar you are saving the appointment on (i.e. My Calendar (the default), GCal (shown as your gmail email address), FaceBook, etc.).  If you change it to GCal, the appointment will sync as desired.  Unfortunately, once an appointment is entered into the device, it will not allow you to change which calendar the appointment is associated with, so make sure to select the correct calendar BEFORE saving the appointment for the first time.
FYI, there does not currently seem to be a way to change the default calendar, but if I find it I will post it here.

DuckyDude is correct. I am starting to see a bunch of people have the same "issue" and as he explained it is as simple as the user not telling the phone to save it to the google calendar.

As for setting the default calendar, one would have the most luck trying a few different calendar apps in the market. I personally RARELY add/edit events from the phone itself, but i do appreciate how convenient a feature it is.

I am also having same problem with Captivate. Is there a way to sync 3 Google calendars then have only one sync to the phone?

While there is no "default calendar", if you go to calendar settings, then choose the calendars option, you can un-click My Calendar, disabling it as an option.  However, any tasks and appointments you have in My Calendar will disappear.  So, first recreate all the entries in My Calendar into your Google Calendar, then disable the My Calendar option.
Re: Is google calender supporting the Samsung fascinate - it does not sync correctly Dupays 10/21/10 6:54 AM
hkeiluhn, yes, disabling 'My Calendar' sounds nice, but it doesn't solve anything. New events are still added to 'My Calendar' by default. If you save them they will disappear completely until you re-enable 'My Calendar'.

Waht a horrible misfeature for a multi billion company who's aiming to take over the smartphone market. I find it depressing. Don't they use these things themselves???

Supposedly the 'default calendar' is fixed in Froyo. We'll see...

The Androd Tasks app, It is a GREAT app, works great with My Calendar and Google Calendar. Its task settings have far more options for for alarms, repeats, scheduling...than My Calendar. Really a great app. And all Android Tasks sync with Google. If you select the option in Android Tasks to add to calendar (under 'Add On' option) it will add to Google Calendar as a calendar event instead of a task. Then can sink from Google Calendar to the phone. BTW, Also have found Calendar Pad to be a HUGE improvement over the default calendar on the phone.

when i enter event on phone, and not under my calendar, but google calendar, takes awhile to sync? is that normal, non-automatic sync? also, newsmart, where is the android tasks app, are you talking about gtasks? thx

I agree! This phone should have a better calendar system. I have no oroblem syncing as long as I check the Google calendar option....I want to eliminate the default "my calendar"! The calendar was seamless on my Droid!
Re: Is google calender supporting the Samsung fascinate - it does not sync correctly ibandyo 2/7/11 9:29 PM
Hi Newsmart! After reading this forum today, I decided to look for the "Android Tasks" app so see if I like the calendar better....there are several Task apps listed, can you you tell me which one you used?
I also have to say that I like the way the calendar was displayed on the Droid better....white background instead of black.

Bought my Fascinate about a week ago and have immediatly noticed this same calendar syncing issue.  As others have mentioned, you can work around it with extra steps by ensuring before you save your appointment that the proper calendar is selected for syncing farther down on the list when you create the appointment.  The frustrating part is a simple setting to allow you to set the automatic default to a particular calendar so you don't have to do this EVERY TIME.  In my case, I use Outlook exclusively so if I'm on the road and need to enter something via my phone, I have to make sure it's going to sync with my corporate exchange server at work or risk losing the appointment all together.

Seems like a relatively simple fix to me and not sure why they haven't done it yet.  This is about the only signficantly frustrating thing for me when it comes to my Droid.

Does anyone know if they have a fix? I need to enter events as I move around; part of reason I bought a "google" phone!  If I try the fix above and lose all the "My Calendar" entries, will they have to be manually reentered into the Google calendar on the phone??? How can they sell the phone like this and should't we demand new phones?

I just tried to find the Android Tasks App as well.  There are about 100.  Does anyone know which one is the right one to try?  See Ibandyo and Newsmart above.

The Samsung Fascinate (Verizon) and its twin, the Captivate (AT&T), both have this same Calendar issue.  May I suggest an alternative that does a great job and syncs almost everything you would want of Outlook Calendar, Contacts, Notes, and Tasks.  It is CompanionLink and it even allows you to sync the data back to the native Android calendar and contacts.  You can find a direct link to the version that syncs from Outlook to Android here:  http://www.companionlink.com/android/outlook/?discountCode=IC8033  The software comes with a free 2 week trial to see if you like it.  And if you have problems, you can call their US based phone support for free.  It will sync through Google, USB, or Wi-Fi.  You can also find a writeup on it at Syncdroid.net where they have a chart listing most known Outlook to Android sync software here: http://www.syncdroid.net/companionlink-for-outlook  There are lots of pictures of what it looks like and how it works. The price may seem a little high, but I paid that much for my Palm Pilot sync software over 10 years ago and didn't get free phone support or apps with it.  Cheers!

The fix is included in the latest update to the Android system.  This is available on the Verizon network for the Samsung Fascinate.  From the home screen click on the menu button (bottom left lighted button).  Click "Settings", Click "About Phone",  click "System Updates", click "Check New" and follow the instructions to download and install the new version.

Thank-you, StAndroid!  I just updated and it looks like the calendar issue is gone!
Re: Is google calender supporting the Samsung fascinate - it does not sync correctly ibandyo 5/10/11 12:32 PM
Here I am again, complaining about my calendar again!  The update fixed my calendar issue at first.  Now, when I enter an appointment on my phone, it correctly enters it to the gmail calendar, but it is no longer syncing with my calendar on my computer!  What the heck?! I went to settings to make sure I have it set up to sync, and I do..... I am really beginning to hate this phone!
Re: Is google calender supporting the Samsung fascinate - it does not sync correctly ibandyo 5/10/11 12:43 PM
I guess I spoke too soon.  I had to go back into my settings on my G-mail calendar (on my computer), and click on the save button for the Mobile Setup.  I had already done this successfully previously, so I am not sure why it was looking for this now.  Now it is syncing.
Re: Is google calender supporting the Samsung fascinate - it does not sync correctly 84heyjude 5/10/11 4:49 PM
I have same problem of wishing my calendar to sync/backup to my gmail account and not the onboard MyCalendar.  With resets, you lose your calendar.  Don't want to use a third party Task Manager.  Is there anyway to sync to gmail's calendar without the extra three steps EVERY TIME you enter an event?  There surely is a way to change the default from MyCalendar sync to gmail sync, but I've talked with Samsung, verizon store, and verizon online and nobody knows how to do it.  They also don't know where that sync they did before a hard reset was stored or how to get to it.

84heyjude,

Look at StAndroid's post above (date 4/24/11).  When I updated the Android system, my phone no monger looked at "my calendar" as the default...instead it sees my Google calendar as the default.  That worked for me, I think the problem I posted today may have been due to my own error, I'm not sure.
