1. In Windows Live calendar select "Share" from the top menu, select your calendar then mark "Share this calendar" and tick "Make your calendar public" (temporarily) and Save. Click the option marked "ICS:Import into another calendar application" and copy the URL that begins "webcal://cid...".
2. Go to Import Calendars in Google Calendar (Settings>Calendars Settings>Import Calendars), choose your desired destination calendar for the import, and click chose file, then paste the copied URL from (1) into the "File Name" field but make sure you replace "webcal://" with "http://" and click open. The ics file will load and just hit "Import"
3. Return to your Windows Live Calendar share settings from (1) and unshare the calendar. Job complete.
Let me know if you have any probs.

Hi, this was almost all helpful but the problem with exporting the windows live to the google calendar is that on good it won't let me import as a URL. It's only letting me import as a file, but I can't seem to export the files from the windows live calendar.
|Re: How do I export my hotmail calendar to gmail calendar||genizzle||2/28/11 6:55 PM|
Nevermind. I found out that if you add it from Other Calendars, click on the 'Add' down drop menu it says you can "add by URL." Sorry! Thanks for helpful steps!!

Hi there. I followed each step outlined by tpuiatti however when I got to step 2, Google did not offer me an option to paste a URL. It only offered me an option to search for a file. I could not type in the file name field and it did not offer me any other options to paste links, etc.
I've also tried, though hotmail, to send an invite to my gmail account. The email is sent, and when I click on the "accept" button within the email, it says that the invitation has expired.
Is this Google's way of not cooperating with Microsoft and vice versa?
Are there any other options I have here?
Thanks for your time!

Thanks to you and GENIZZLE! I ran into the same problem but because he posted a reply I was able to add my calendar to google, except that I didn't have to change the webcall:// to http://, actually I forgot and it ended up importing it anyway as it was with the webcall:// Thanks u all

@ tpuiatti I was able to import my Hotmail calendar to Google calendar - THANKS! I have a quick question. When I create new events in my Hotmail calendar, will they automatically be added to Google calendar?
|Re: How do I export my hotmail calendar to gmail calendar||tpuiatti||8/9/11 9:06 AM|
Negative - you have only imported your calendar as of a given date. There is no connection thereafter. The steps are intended for someone transferring their hotmail calendar to Google Calendar and then planning to use Google Calendar exclusively thereafter.
You could add the link from step 1 by URL using the Add by URL feature this would then update a separate calendar on your list with your Hotmail events periodically but will be a read-only calendar.

Sorry if I'm being dumb but I can't seem to follow the part:
I can't find a Settings>Calendars Settings>Import Calendars - I seem to have Cogwheel> Calendar Settings>Calendars(tab)>Import Calendar but when the resulting choose file box opens I cannot paste in the link as it returns a "the file name is not valid" message.
Can you advise please?
NB: Windows 7 - Google Chrome - don't think I'm on Google Apps (?) - no Labs and offline not enabled

I followed the above steps and apparently imported 180, successfully imported 113....the message below followed?
Failed to import events: Could not upload your events because you do not have sufficient access on the target calendar..
Not sure what that mean?
