Unsubscribe from Google Calendars josephg5 3/29/11 7:31 PM
How do I permanently unsubscribe from other Google Calendars (like Holidays, etc.) that I subscribed to, a while back?

I can go to Calendar Settings -> Calendars -> Other Calendars -> Unsubscribe for each calendar listed there. But this seems to be temporary. The next time I login, or reopen calendar, all those Google Calendars are back again in my subscriptions list.

My subscriptions seem to be permanent subscriptions, and unsubscribe is only temporary. Please help.

Please always include:
Operating system (e.g. WinXP): Debian Linux
Program and version you use to access Google Calendar (e.g. Internet Explorer 7 or Outlook 2003):  Iceweasel, Opera
Any Sync software you're using or have used (e.g. Google Calendar Sync): Android
If you're using the non-Apps version of Google Calendar (accessing from google.com/calendar/render) or you're on Google Apps: non-Apps
If you have any Labs (and which ones) or Offline enabled: None

I have the same problem. It seems to be a bug affecting all users. I have to hide them at present. But when I set synchronization on my phone, it always show me the long list including the subscribed calendars that I don't need any more.

Re: Unsubscribe from Google Calendars flowheimer 4/13/11 4:46 AM
Same problem.

Ages ago I subscribed to Hebrew Calendar, accessed through Browse Interesting Calendars > More and now it won't go away. I've tried unsubscribing from Calendar Settings/Calendars and also from the Interesting Calendars page. Doing so removes the calendar from view but a refresh brings it right back.

I tried unsubscribing, logging out immediately and then logging back in, but that didn't help, not that anyone said it would.

Please fix!

Same problem here. Occurs with any operating system and any browser. Please note that I'm also syncing with CalDav and with Active Sync.
Please fix as soon as possible.

Re: Unsubscribe from Google Calendars ty888 4/30/11 8:10 PM
A very large number of people seem to have this problem recently (March 2011 or earlier).

But Google does not seem to provide a single acknowlegdement or response at all to any post, in the last 1 hour of Googling on this problem!!

In summary, and repeating what everyone is suffering from -

CANNOT UNSUBSCRIBE CALENDARS
- even after clicking "Unsubscribe", calendars will return after the next login.

Re: Unsubscribe from Google Calendars DavidDT 7/20/11 8:06 AM
Shame on Google - this is really lame problem to fix and it is plain sickening how Google is NOT ABLE to support its own products while attempting to fight Microsoft.
No wonder WP7 will kill lame Android soon ...

Re: Unsubscribe from Google Calendars Highlandman 8/9/11 6:15 AM
I'm having the same problem.  I subscribed to Remember the Milk for a short while before deciding I didn't like it - the same applies to the Weather calendar.  I only get the option to Unsubscribe - not to Delete.

I use a variety of computers plus my iPhone to access my account, operating systems from XP to Windows 7, lots of versions of Windows explorer, Chrome.  iPhone is set to sync with Google calendar, as well as using the third party CalenGoo.  No labs loaded as far as I am aware.

Have trawled for hours trying to find a fix but to no avail.  Have tried unsubscribing, deleting main calendar, deleting cookies, etc., etc. until I'm blue in the face, but whatever happens the pesky things keep reappearing like bad smells.

I could live with hiding the calendars I don't want to use any more - until I tried to start using CalenGoo, which now spends most of its time syncrhonising with the unwanted Remember the Milk, and is therefore a right royal pain in the backside.
Re: Unsubscribe from Google Calendars halex 8/17/11 9:09 AM
Wow!  I had no idea this has been going on for so long!  I have only been trying to remove some excess calendars from my primary calendar for about a week now, and it is very annoying.  I've tried from my mac, my pc at home, and my pc at work.
Re: Unsubscribe from Google Calendars gburlingame 8/27/11 7:16 PM

everybody changing to outlook then google will resolve quickly
Re: Unsubscribe from Google Calendars ryanlg 8/31/11 3:05 PM
Same problem.  Wouldn't think it would be that hard to fix an unsubscribe button.  At least let us know you are working on it.
Re: Unsubscribe from Google Calendars akaleluika 9/2/11 1:17 PM
Same problem as Highlandman.  Google get with the program...seriously!
Re: Unsubscribe from Google Calendars robjbrad 9/6/11 2:30 AM
Same problem here, making my new phone calendar unusable
Re: Unsubscribe from Google Calendars daxxus 9/6/11 7:44 AM
Hate to sound like a broken record, but I've had exactly the same problem.  Ages ago I added calendars like "Canadian Holidays", "US Holidays", and "Weather".  Unfortunately, now I can not remove any of them.

I tried using getting to settings both from the calendar (drop-down above other calendars) and from the settings icon on the top left of my browser window.  Every time after unsubscribing, the calendars show up again if I refresh/re-login.

I also tried unsubscribing from the "Browse interesting calendars" page... no luck.  I tried re-subscribing then unsubscribing (resulting in duplicate entries ... e.g. US Holidays would show up twice under settings, once with show in list checked, and once unchecked).

This really sucks because "Pocket Calendar" on my iPhone is picking up/syncing with all of these unwanted calendars (checked to show or not) making this mobile calendar compeltely unusable.

This is more than just an annoying bug... it's actually preventing me from being able to use google calendar!
Re: Unsubscribe from Google Calendars pjper 9/15/11 1:44 PM
This is so annoying... why can't google just fix this bug? It seems so simple... At least you could just say "we're on it"...
Re: Unsubscribe from Google Calendars xa2 10/5/11 1:13 AM
Same problem here....
Kubuntu 11.04
Chrome 12.0.742.60 beta

I'm having the same problem.  It is becoming very annoying.
Re: Unsubscribe from Google Calendars RedSmurf 10/8/11 8:13 AM
Would appreciate a response on this one too.  Can we get it at least listed in the "Known Bugs" section?

Re: Unsubscribe from Google Calendars vrp2002 10/8/11 3:09 PM

Re: Unsubscribe from Google Calendars cbrct 10/19/11 4:08 AM
It looks like they fixed it! I just unsubscribed from my unwanted calendars and they did not come back. And for the first time they were synced and removed from my android phone as well. Now let's wait a few more hours and see if it is really fixed.
Re: Unsubscribe from Google Calendars cristina.ctorres 10/19/11 11:20 AM
It worked for the Weather calendar I subscribed to, but not for my Remember the Milk calendar...
Re: Unsubscribe from Google Calendars babyplue 10/19/11 6:57 PM
i think they fixed it alright, unsubscribe a few calendars, refreshed it and they still aren't back! :D will monitor closely and see how it goes :)
Re: Unsubscribe from Google Calendars vrp2006 10/19/11 8:45 PM
I unsubscribed from a couple this afternoon and they were back.
Re: Unsubscribe from Google Calendars cassiecat 10/20/11 11:06 AM
What I found to answer this question is under the calendar list is "other calendars".  When I clicked on that and the drop-down gave me all the calendars I subscribed to, I clicked on the calendar I no longer want to see, it gave me "hide this calendar from the list".  Then I clicked on the drop down of the My Calendars and unsubscribed. So far it hasn't shown back up.
Re: Unsubscribe from Google Calendars cyberfree17 12/25/11 1:35 PM
I can't unsubscribe from holiday calendars ,too.
Google calendar reload the unsubscribed calendars, they appear again.
Can anyone help me?
Re: Unsubscribe from Google Calendars anapp 4/23/12 7:27 AM
Dear  all,

Problem is still there.  Can you imagine about one thousand people get my daily reminding about an event that already finished three months ago?

Best Regards,
ana
Re: Unsubscribe from Google Calendars Grace D 5/29/12 9:01 AM
We recently did some clean up to how these calendars are stored that should fix the problem -- please try unsubscribing again.
Re: Unsubscribe from Google Calendars rickray 6/3/12 2:44 AM
Can you help me to unsubscribe the Malaysia holiday calendar?  malays...@holiday.calendar.google.com
The calendar is not correct, many holidays are wrongly dated.

Re: Unsubscribe from Google Calendars imatucb 6/16/12 4:50 PM
I have the same problem as some of the other people here.  Seems like the first gen holiday calendars are very stubborn:

The newer gen calendars, ie., tha...@holiday.calendar.google.com remove very well.

Please assist on this.  The former appear everywhere such as delegates account in iCal, Settings in Google Cal, and all other calendar client apps that sync with Google.

Best,
Re: Unsubscribe from Google Calendars Lwood40 6/17/12 10:37 AM
I also, have this problem. I cannot unsubscribe from the "Remember the Milk" calendar. I haven't used it for years, and tried to unsub. It is removed from the list of calendars, but then re-appears the next time Google Calendar is opened.

This is the string in the description field, if this helps:

Remember The Milk: http://www.rememberthemilk.com/services/modules/googlecalendar/?s=${d}

Let me know if you'd like more info.
Re: Unsubscribe from Google Calendars Grace D 6/27/12 4:26 AM
rickray, imatucb, and Lwood40: Can you try again now?
Re: Unsubscribe from Google Calendars Lwood40 6/27/12 5:30 AM
I was able to successfully unsubscribe from the calendar without it returning. Thank you!
Re: Unsubscribe from Google Calendars hg_arm 8/10/12 12:28 AM
I am trying to Delete some unnecessary calendars and it asks to verify my action, then I am checking Yes and pushing "Delete all events" after that page returns to my calendar but unnecessary calendar is still there.
I have deleted all Notifications and everything which was possible to remove and tried to delete calendar again and again many times but it didn't removes. I did also logout/login but my unnecessary calendar is still there.
Also, in calendar settings there is no Unsubscribe link.

So, what is your suggestion for this case?
Re: Unsubscribe from Google Calendars Grace D 8/10/12 2:09 PM
@hg_arm, it sounds like you have a different problem than the others on this thread.

If you have an option to "Delete" a calendar (using that exact word), then you have edit access to it. The holiday/sports/weather/etc cals we've been discussing on this thread shouldn't have a Delete option, only Unsubscribe.

So, I'm going to assume you're talking about a personally owned calendar. If you are then getting a message that all EVENTS will be deleted (rather than the underlying calendar itself), then it sounds like you're trying to delete your PRIMARY calendar. Your primary calendar can never be deleted, so when you do the Delete action, what you're actually doing is simply deleting all the events in that calendar. The primary calendar, ie the first calendar in your My Calendars list, can never be deleted.

Is that your problem, or have I made a wrong assumption in there?
Re: Unsubscribe from Google Calendars hg_arm 8/13/12 10:20 AM
You are exactly right that calendar is my primary calendar. Seems everything works as you decided.
I had confused becouse it's not clear that I can't remove primary calendar from Calendar Settings or which calendar is my primery calendar, only I detected that the primary calendar is always in the top of calendars list. At this moment I don't know what to do with that unneccessary calendar and it is not clear why I can't remove even primary calendar as it looks like others but I haven't other questions your answer is very clear to me.

Thanks a lot
