HTML showing in your "From the owner" description? Jade W. 9/7/12 3:34 PM
Seeing reports that HTML tags (like <div>, etc) are showing up on owner descriptions for merged pages that have gone through local verification. Team's working on fixing it, will post back here when I've got updates. Thanks for reporting!

Thanks Jade, you can minimize the effects by removing any page breaks, formatting, contractions or symbols etc.

Thank you for the information.

I just discovered that occurring on my page as well.  I can affirm that when my site was transferred and I subsequently had it verified about two weeks ago that it was initially displaying correctly.  I did edit the description at around that same time and it was still displaying correctly.  For myself it has displayed correctly up until I attempted to edit the description today and then this condition occurred.  I might add that it displays correctly as long as you are signed into the page from one's owner or manager account.  It only displays incorrectly when viewed by the 'Public' or as any other account including that of the owner's or manager's personal primary account.

I'll be following the status on this issue.

(Sample of my own instance below)
____________________________________________________________________________________________

(Correctly displayed when signed into the Google+ Page)
_______________________________________________________________________________________________

(Incorrectly displayed when viewed as public or anyone other than the Google+ Page account)

Hi Jade, i've noticed this issue too... i would like to clarify if this is only applicable for merged places or same goes with the stand alone owner-verified  Google+ Local page. Because upon checking all the  Google+ Local page listing we verified for our partner hotels, the descriptions are all missing. Hope to hear from you.

Thank you.

I think this is fixed. Any more examples?

It still shows up on mobile results.  I tried searching for the listing using the Local app for Iphone, pressed More Info, and the HTML code still shows.
Here's the listing.

The HTML tags are gone, but there is no formatting.  What looks nice and readable inside the backend, with bullets and spaces between lines, is just one single block of text.

Ah, thanks guys.

Confirmed with the team that this is now manifesting as no formatting in the owner description. Better than HTML tags showing, but we're still working on a better fix!

Thank you for the follow-up.

Yes, the lack of tags is much better.  I too would look forward to a better fix that allows for formatting.

I would add that besides simply not seeing the formatting there are also no line breaks.  I only mention that in the event that that doesn't fall under the definition of "formatting"

I cannot speak for anyone else who has experienced this condition, but as for myself the issue with the formatting of our page description has been resolved as of about a week now.

Now I just have to figure out why afterward our page inexplicably reverted back to a status of "Unverified" after having been verified for a month and a half and the listing no longer showing up in searches.

Ay Caramba!
